Livonia/Courland interested me. They had a colony on Trinidad and also in the Gambia!

Hopefully so! Maybe Fredrik II would be so gracious as to inform us more? :)

Sorry for the silence. I hope the devs will soon join us here. We have a meeting with the devs next week to plan the release. Within two weeks we should be able to give you more info.

Not sure what EU-style is but doubt it will be TW-style. Rather hope is not from what I have seen in the Demo. I have a feeling it wil be more like AOS2 or Privateer's Bounty. Where you give the ship a speed and direction orders, instead go to waypoint and STOP.

From what I understand of the Dev blogs on the eic-game site the multi-player combat is strictly tactical or ship to ship. Single player mode is the campaign game.

Tis a pitty all the info from the old official Lighthouse board did not come here. Kim Soares, head developer, answered many questions and input clarifications about the game's operation.

Greg.

EU-style is referring to the Europa Universalis series, which is one of Paradox's biggest sellers. The latest game is Europa Universalis 3.

This is its forum under the "Paradox Games" section at the top on the main forum page.

Thanks Humancalculator. I will look into it.

Greg.

If you want to get an idea of how the game works, read the AAR's, or After Action Reports.

They are basically fan-fiction of players experiences in the game.

I am always glad to help. :)

This looks like a great game! I first heard about it in the Paradox Off Topic forum and was planning to look out for the game in any game shop I passed but having it released via GamersGate and having its own subforum here will make things so much easier. :)

add me to the list of people who are glad this game will still be released.
one concern though, im sure people remember the crusaders kings debacle a few years ago where paradox took over from the original devs and the game suffered big time because of this.

im hopin the late change in devs wont have the same affect for EIC. would i be right in sayin that EIC is almost near completion? thats the impression i get over at their forums.

it will be finished by the original developers, which are a great team. I've tested the game and was saying "we have to sign this game" several times to fredrik, so I am so happy we could announce this.

I don't know if anyone ever played the game 'Pirates of the Caribbean' (it wasn't really based on the movie at all, really). The ship fights remind me somewhat of the EIC screenshots of naval warfare... just a lot... LOT better! Haha!

It's a genius signing by Paradox though!

Great news! Well done to Paradox and the EIC team.

I've been following this game for a while and it looks superb. The era is probably my favourite, but the editors appear to be crafting a genuinely excellent game around it as well. I'd recommend everyone check out the website (http://www.eic-game.com/) - the developer blogs and screenshots are very good, and most importantly show a great deal of care and attention are going into the game.

I look very much forward to this game, I must say. I've been looking for games like this for a while now, but there aren't many of them out there.

I second the hope that it will be moddable, though. :)

Ugh, Italy is a nation in EIC? Hopefully we can mod that little detail...:D

yeah, not to mention that they set the spanish main port in barcelona by 1700
i was excited about this game but after reading a bit it looks like not much research has been put in to it. really, makes one wonder what the rest of the game is going to look like.

patrician and pirates of the caribean were fairly good, although i find that is High seas trader the reference for this type even after the years past since it was released.

I wasn't a fan of Patrician, and PotC I haven't tried, but I'll check out High Seas Trader immediately. Old games are something of a hobby of mine.

I don't know how you can compare EIC to Pirates of the Caribbean, the ships in POTC looked like they came out of a 5 year old's drawing, just overall I'm like "whats with the graphics?" everything was very unrealistic and seemed like a very kiddish game except for the water reflection and special effects, which was alright. Pirates of the Burning Sea had MUCH better ships and everything, that's where they actually got realistic on those ship battles, 10 times better than the ones in Pirates of the Caribbean. But EIC is like another step up, seems even more detailed than Pirates of the Burning Sea, which makes me very excited to try it, only if I can wait til it releases......

Haha! That's why I did say: "... a lot... LOT better!".

But that whole wooden vessel fighting-type thing I first experienced in that game. Hence the, somewhat nostalgic, comparison.

EDIT: Welcome to the forum anyway! :)

I would not compare to Pirates of the Caribbean. That game was originally going to be Sea Dogs2 before Disney got a hold of it. Also POTC came out what 5 or 6 years ago. Compared to today it looks a bit dated but in its day it was pretty cutting edge graphics.

POTC is also an RPG game whose main focus was walking about solving quests. Sailing was not the primary focus. Although the sailing part is what I liked best.
I believe in EIC the only first person activity is Sailing. The original concept for the game had the RPG portion but I believe it was removed. I am guessing that the first person walking about will become their next game "Cutthroats" which appears to build on EIC.
