Thank you!!! I encountered some problems in this game with Italy. I used the FONA (F**k Off North Africa) tactic and sent everything I got to the southern Soviet front while the Allies took my useless colonies. After the Russian defeat, the Germans and I went down from the Caucasus to MO and Iran. Nice that you can't walk from Sinai to Suez, it gave me some headaches.

Thanks to the "acceptall" cheat I forced Germany to give me all the Iraqi provinces and from there all the Axis conquests in MO and Africa were mine. But I never saw the Arab Federation on the puppet list. Is it stuck behind a chain of events? Will it be a German or Italian puppet?

Two considerations: what are the conditions for triggering a truce between the US and Axis once only the New World is left to fight? I admit it wouldn't make much sense for them; we can't defend all of Africa and will probably lose it to the U.S. and Canada. But once we take that one they will be stuck there too.

As soon as the 5-year truce between Germany and the defeated USSR expires, Germany attacks again activating I guess the Charlemagne decision. But it does so without arranging anything on the front, leaving all the army scattered between Europe, Persia and India and as a result in the first month of the war the USSR returns to its 1941 borders annexing almost all the Reichskommissariat.

Finally I really want to give you huge kudos for the work you are doing. Germany succeeded alone, without any help from me, in landing in England!!! And knocking it out of the war by itself! Bravo!

I'm fairly certain I've released the arab federation in this mod. I used to get confused sometimes why I couldn't release certain nations, and it was usually because I forgot to remove my claims in certain areas. I'm sure you know this but I'll mention it regardless just in case. Egypt on the other hand sometimes becomes a German puppet when I approach their province, which sometimes make it tricky to avoid Egypt gobbling up arab federation terriory, it should still be releaseable with the 1 province puppet Egypt.

When playing as Italy, I like to use TET tactic™ (Two Empires Together) where I just puppet Ethiopia instead of annexing them...
Their 53 divisions even if weak, are useful as garrisons and 40 of them together with 20 Italian are enough to keep and expand in the Horn of Africa. To properly puppet them you need to take most of their territories without destroying any of their divisions. It's tricky, but possible and fun.

Darkest Hour is the only Hoi game that properly represented Ethiopian army; big and scary on paper, but very outdated and disorganized. Recent Hoi 4 DLC added nice focuses to their nation, but their army representation is still bad; they have barely any divisions.

I'm currently playing Italian Plot Twist Campaign™, where I joined...Allies in 1939. Brave Ethiopians are fighting against German tanks in Austria

Sadly Netherlands, Belgium and France are completely useless as allies and I will likely face German divisions near Piedmont too...
It would be nice to see their AI slightly buffed. France just sends almost everything to the Maginot Line, leaving Belgium and Netherlands to the Germans.

Unfortunately, France must be weak and powerless against Germany to allow the normal course of World War II to unfold. If it were truly equivalent to historic France, Fall Gelb would fail at least half the time, basically every time the Germans failed to encircle the best and most numerous part of the Anglo-French army in Belgium. But I doubt we would want a Darkest Hour in which half the time WWII becomes a remake of WWI.

Every mod seems to have some gripe, if not bug or flaw, -especially dealing with the AI. I'm curious about people's opinion about this mod overall. I normally have been playing AIOGE and TRP. How does this mod compare? Would you recommend it?

I understand, though it would be nice to see something like that let's say 1 out of 10 games. Curently it happens only if you play as France :(
EODAIP already added some scenarios that almost never happen in vanilla DH; successful German invasion of UK, Allies invasion in Yugoslavia (instead of scripted Normandy/Italy in vanilla) etc.

Depends what kind of mod you want to play. For me it's the best AI focused DH mod. AI can now use paratroopers, is a lot better when it comes to naval invasions, army composition and coordinated attacks. Most mods try to improve AI and difficulty by just spamming dozens of free divisions and manpower for AI or by artificially increasing their defence/attack modifiers. EODAIP actually improves AI.

When it comes to content (like decisions and flavour) AIOGE is likely better. TRP I'm not sure. I enjoyed TRP too, but I don't remember it for lot's of flavour.
All of them are good mods though. For flavour, I recommend Kaiserreich (alt history mod) and Peace without Victory (adds 1914, 1918, 1919, 1920 and 1931 historical starts that can continue until WW2. Mod also offers optional alt history scenarios).

I know it's releasable from the German Fate of Africa events, and according to revolts.txt it should be releasable as long as you have province 1172 (Jerusalem) & it's not your core... but, It's only allowed to be released by GER right now :(. Since I finally found this file (legit missed it when looking at /misc/ for the past few weeks...) I can add ITA in the next update.

There is currently no truce, as well as no real Chinese Civil war, Korean war and real Unthinkable support. These are all things I would like to do one day, but they just haven't been on my radar so far. I've seen USA come back from Allies losing the entire Europe and Africa, though :p

It's impossible (to my knowledge) to have the AI prepare divisions on an allied front before a war starts; Similar reason for why GER has no divisions of the border of GG Polen. It's the best it can be right now, without cutting out a corridor of provinces through RKs to Soviets. I would like to improve this if I do figure out a way though, maybe I can try experimenting with garrison priorities on RK borders one day

Thanks! There's a lot of cool stuff that can happen at times, I was hoping to make an AI that combines forces often and meaningfully enough to where some operations can kind of feel like a Panzerkorps-type fleshed-out battle - though I'm definitely not at that level yet :p. I hope we get a DH patch that smooths out some edges around the way AI functions or is debugged one day, it'd make my mod way better if I could get text debug for oversea fronts or paratroopers.

France stacking way too many divs on Maginot is definitely on my to-do! I made some changes for GER in the last update already ahead of working of France, and will be rewriting the bad offensive AI script it inherited from vanilla HOI when I work on the next update

I think the Japanese AI needs to fix it like it was originally, now they don't accept white peace when I take Manchuria and Korea, they can only send a few divisions up to kill themselves in my territory, in when their fleet was destroyed by my fleet of 30 submarines. I think the Japanese AI should only refuse to make peace if they are joining the fascism side, otherwise if they are alone they should accept the white peace. along with a non-aggressive treaty with the Soviet Union like in history. I don't mind fighting on both fronts but I feel really sorry for the Japanese soldiers under the stubbornness of AI @@

Hmm I would've figured there's a surrender event for Japan if it's beaten by SOV xD I'll take a look at when it triggers & if it makes sense, thanks!

AI seems to be better. Although the US did not join the allies because they were not attacked by Japan at Pearl Harbor. But Britain also sent troops to liberate France. AI Germany is fine, they are no longer available. attach tanks to infantry more and build less planes @@

When I began to successfully conquer the Japanese island nation, a peace agreement was triggered forcing Japan to return the southern Sakhalin island to me and I automatically annex all of Manchuria. This is correct in terms of historical but illogical with the current situation. I propose a new peace agreement similar to that of USA to make Japan my puppet, otherwise it would be odd to immediately declare war on them to complete the world revolution @@

Finally done! I have one and comment on the mod:

- The AI still doesn't know how to create large fleets, my fleet of 15 CV+ 10 CA +5 DDs kills them as easily as a walk even though I haven't studied much naval doctrine.
- When I landed in North America, I was hoping for a tug-of-war with hundreds of allied divisions and being bombed right into the army that had just arrived like an all-in-one mod. But all in all. The resistance I encountered was a handful of divisions, smaller than the British Isles, and it wasn't until late 1946 that the USA got its first nuclear bomb, which was rather slow because usually they would have an atomic bomb by the end of the year. 1944 and did not hesitate to use it. The defeat of the world's No. 1 superpower took place really quickly and easily. I have downloaded the game save for anyone who needs @@

I never really thought about it game-wise before, but any invasion of the U.S. should result in a huge mobilization of the population.

I started a game with Brazil having pushed out nuclear development in the 1980s. I joined the Axis when I saw they were losing and ended up in a defensive WW2 against the Allies who are also fighting the Soviets alongside a strong Japan AI that has puppet states in Australia and NZ and fighting hard against the Soviets. The Allied AI does naval invasions exactly at my sweet spots where I have beach spots lightly guarded - I have noticed a bug though: once the AI takes over a beachhead, it immediately withdraws its troops so my defeated troops can simply "walk" and take over the lost province.

A few days ago I got darkest hour on Steam and as a grand strategy noob, my first game was 1933 with Austria to get used to the mechanics.
After the Germans conquered Moscow and had a treaty with the soviets, I just took switzerland out and let the AI battle themselves to see how it goes.
In 1952 I ended the game disillusioned, because the Germans, while having conquered all of Russia, Afrika and going to Nepal, they didn't invade the UK or even touch the US. Also the Allies never invaded mainland europe but only sent bombers and nukes ... So i thought about a mod that made AI better and found EoDAIP.

After having put the downloaded file in "mods" I could easily enough start the game as Romania 1936.
But here my trouble started: The head of state and the ministers were just black shadows without pictures or information. I could not click them .
I could have lived with that, but an even bigger problem is that I cannot click on the Technology teams to choose one.
So the campaign ended on day 3.

As a test, I tried Germany 1936, U.S. 1941 and Finnland 1939: Same result. Ministers and Tech teams not usable.
I hope there is a fix?
I'm thankful for any ideas.

You in the darkest hour launcher and turn on the mod like this. The EODAIP mod only has the 1933 campaign, no other campaigns. Also make sure to update your darkest hour version to 105.2 like the picture @ @
