Ironfoundersson: I'm converting some Italian minors. I'll upload them when I'm finished so you don't accidentally double them. Also, start to include pop_growth_mod like pop_growth_mod = 1.0033 for all the German countries. I added it to those that you had already done, and I believe it's important to get the right final population somehow...

EDIT: Does anyone know about a place where I 1) can find all Victoria relgions?, 2) find all Victoria country tags?

Ughh there seems to be a work conflict here like I anticipated, I believe both of you are working on Germany and now Austria. You have to communicate better.

Anyhow, I'll definately add the low countries since they have not been added, and I will consider G-Klav's German IDs because some of kokomo's look funny (Saxony looks 100% strange although once again converting provinces is not easy).

As for Zeeland, make it true to EU2. I think since that a player can play for so long before converting he won't worry too much about historical borders by the end of his EU2 campaign and the conversion.

I hope you had enough common sense to include the capital of the EU2 province in the Vic state. For example, the capital of the province "Sachsen" in EU2 is Dresden. Did you include the (Vic) province Dresden in the state "Sachsen"?

Well, in my Italy conversion the Victoria province "Siena" lies outside the EU2 province Siena (rather in Tuscany in fact). What I say is that while it is good if historical accuracy is achieved, I think the link between land areas is even more important. The more we can make a player's Victoria country remind him of his EU2 one the better.

I sent a PM about the sub forum to Dark Knight, if he doesn't respond (why wouldn't he?) within a week I'll PM another forum moderator.

16 will not exist at the game end
87 can only revolt
71 have the same name in Victoria
25 have similar names in Victoria (e.g. Eire<=>Ireland, Nippon<=>Japan)
99 have no really similar tags (this includes NAP and GEN which Chaingun converted to SIC and SAR)

Which means that with a bit of carefull selecting the conversion shouldn't return "white holes" in most of the cases as there are 214 Victoria TAGs

I'll work through the 105 tags and try to find more tags of category 4 today, in the mean time some questions:

1) Can multiple TAGs be converted to one TAG? For instance the TAGs SPA, CAS and ARG could all be converted to SPA
2) Where are the country names stored in Victoria? Can it easily be modded (I assume so) and, more importantly, will it mess up playing a vanilla Victoria game?

Unfortunely I don't think the they can be changed without either A) screwing up other scenarios, or B) creating a new mod directory and place a copy of the country definition file/text file there. This would not make Eu2Vic compatible with either the Vanilla or other mods though, and as such it is not a good idea.

As for the Castille-Spain-Aragon->Spain thing it all depends on the programming I can do. I admit it would be practical, but then again there are other problems since for example Castille and Aragon are likely to co-exist if they by event did not unite into Spain. One idea that Lord Asharak had was to create "mother countries" for certain minor countries so that any French minors have survived for example automatically get converted into French territory. This spawns another problem however if France itself has been exterminated for some reason (although I guess an artifical France could be imbued and then act as a assembler for the minor countries). Asharak also proposed that any vassalage would supersede the mother country as the territory receiver; eg. if Lorraine is a vassal of Austria it gets merged with Austria upon conversion instead of France. I will return further with more information on this future, probably I'll create some table such as tag_conversion_table where mother countries can be specified for certain tags.

At least, remember that any user of the converter will be able to modify Countries.txt himself. This means that if he is not a casual converter (he might for example have been given the task of converting a massive MP game), he can easily correct any white holes in the map or strange tag selections. What we must accomplish however is to provide a solid base for those people who will rather just run the program want it to work.

In the Poland/Austria/Hungary border provinces there are several duplicate ids, it looks like the Danube region is a bit moved to far to the north and east. I tried to redo the area but it caused me headaches. I hope our province masters kokomo and G-Klav can do it better
