Fortunate that the West African ones look so good. Might have to consider playing as Mali next

No love for Hungary and the Balkan :(
Or Lithuania. I don't mind too much though. The vanilla African models are awful and seeing more flavor in the HRE is always welcome.

My ideas were incorrect, damn. Maybe next time we'll get Balkans and Eastern Europe. West Africa was very needed tho gj team

I also wanted to see some Eastern European units, but also for the Beyliks, the Sheeps, SE asians and the post colonial states.

But very happy with seeing West Africa getting some love, though it's a bit of a shame that Dahomey and Benin didnt get their own looks. Greatly looking foward to the post with the full list of renders :)

Looks neat, especially the Saxons. Though I really hope that they stop releasing unit packs only twice a year and return to Flavor packs. There's still Scandinavia, North America, Eastern Europe, Central Africa and Asia to hope for.

Is it just me or have the models since Mare Nostrum, including the Rights of Man one, look really... glossy and bulky compared to previous models?

Yeah, I have a similar feeling. It seems that the art style of the unit packs is evolving and isn't really consistent, which somehow bothers me (try comparing e.g. Genoese units with the Papal States and then with Florence). I understand that resolution is getting better, but the art style could have been kept more in line. Maybe they are made by different designers? Generally the new unit's that don't have dynamic colouring seem a bit off when compared to the rest, but it's hard to explain why.

What is even a bit more bothersome is that they are not consistent in periods represented by different units in a same tier. Armour of many T1 units (e.g. Portugal or Genoa) looks more modern than that of some T2 units (looking at you, Mare Nostrum), generally some T1 units represent late middle ages while others are already from early modern age.

This is just some nitpicking, but I really hope they will at least fix some of the bugs like Mamluks not having their unique cavalry with the MN pack, Italians using halberds with only one hand and some artillery units keeping the default skin.

These units look great Carlberg, but what of the Evangelical Majors? What of the Swedes? What of the French? WHAT OF THE PRUSSIANS! And the Catholic Majors? What of the Austrians? What of the Spaniards? What of the Poles!

I don't know if Carlberg would know. He is an artist and that decision would be up to marketing :/ @BjornB may be a bit more informed

Well if that's the case, Mr. Calberg, I hear that some of the North African Units, due to popular protest, are getting a makeover. Could the Polish Units (not to mention the Ottomans & Byzantines), specifically Tier III and IV likewise be edited? Don't wanna sound like I'm beating a dead horse by re-posting this, but just wanna make sure it's constantly on your alls radar ;)

This newest Catholic Majors Infantry DLC (although currently discontinued) was a fantastic addition, particularly all the Tier I units, and the impressively awesome Austrian roster (seriously they look bad-ass).

Due to the fact that Catholic Majors DLC has been pulled momentarily due to distribution issues, I would like to ask Paradox to use this opportunity to improve upon two units included in this DLC, namely the Tier III and Tier IV Polish Infantry Sprites.

TIER III POLISH INFANTRY
YH3EhQm.jpg

This representation is very time-period generic, and for a “DLC” unit is underwhelming. The Polish “Saxon” infantry formations of the time-period were far more colorful and splendid. The whole “red-coat” look of the infantrymen looks more like a replacement for generic Western European Infantry Sprites than anything else.

Here are depictions of Saxon-Style Polish Infantry of the time-period (1700-1735)

TIER IV POLISH INFANTRY

I actually had to go into super-search mode to figure out WHERE this model exactly came from, having visited numerous Polish National Museums with extensive historical military expositions, this rang no bells, until I realized that you all were in fact using the headpiece design from the Tier 4 Lithuanian Cavalry Unit.
PItwD8v.jpg

All of the illustrations above are of Lithuanian divisions from 1792 that served in the Commonwealth. This headgear is clearly Lithuanian, and stands apart from the iconic Polish division headpieces of the same time. The only similarity is the uniform, which after 1788 was dictated to be a dark navy across all formations, Lithuanian or Polish. I suggest keeping the existing Tier IV sprite for the Lithuanian Infantry, and include it into a Unit-Pack for Lithuania in the future.

These images below represent the iconic look of the Polish Infantry of the time-period, the Polish Napoleonic Legions in their dark navy uniforms.

Furthermore, they correlate with the already existing Polish Napoleonic Era Uhlans.

Also, backpacks are a necessity for these guys, the one on the Austrian unit would do nicely.

And although I’m a fan of the dark navy with red, here are some designs of the same uniform in red & white.

In closing;
  • It'd be fantastic if the Polish Tier III and Tier IV Infantry Sprites could be changed, I think I speak for everyone when I say that I'd gladly pay the price.
  • Also keep the current Tier IV Sprite for the Lithuanian Infantry (when the time comes).
  • That's all, and as always, thank you for this amazing game Paradox!
Sincerely,
Everto
And here...
The new Evangelical Units Swedish and Prussian units look AWESOME! Super excited!

Also, GM_Kaiser has created some really spot on unit models to replace those in the Polish Roster!

Tier 3 Infantry (based on the images in this very thread!)

The second "Alternative" Design is really on-point, GM_Kaiser they looks awesome

And here are GM_Kaiser's "Tier 4" Polish Units
dx8XNk9.jpg

Both of these versions looks a lot better than the originals (historically accurate navy uniform is key) but the headdresses are still not the iconic "Polish Napoleonic Shako", Alternative 1 is the Lithuanian headdress, whilst Alternative 2 is certainly an improvement.

Below are images of the iconic Polish Uniforms of the day

If Paradox could fix the Polish Tier 3 & Tier 4 before they "re-release" the catholic Majors, that'd be amazing. GM_Kaiser's work is an amazing step by the community, if Paradox would be so kind as to take note and implement these changes that'd be incredible.

Best,
Everto

So when will Hannover appear? Aren't they a formable country? Would that mean never seeing the T1 units?
They are formable indeed; was said in the other thread that Brunswick uses them too though and IIRC they exist in 1444. (And otherwise there always is the possibility of starting at a date where they do exist.)

Good, would be a waste of a fine model otherwise. Still sad that the French vassal models are basicly never seen anymore.
