I wonder how many nations will get new unique units. China and Japan for sure will get some overhaul. I assume Korea, maybe some of the indonesian (Brunei, Pasai, Malaya... as they were chosen by players in the Dev Clash MP) and indochinese (except for Ayyuthaya, Dai Viet and Lan Xang who already have some nice ones). Really looking forward to the upcoming DDs.

So who'll get new renders? Ming, the Manchu tribes, Korea and Japan 100%. But there is Southeast-Asia too. Maybe Ayutthaya, Khmer and the others also get some love

I'm very hopeful. Especially about the last part; maybe some updated vanilla graphics again like with the Western tech-group?

I'm really looking forward to this expansion, might be my next favorite one after Art of War and Rights of Man!

I'm going to guess that Ming, Manchu/Jurchens, Japan/Daimyos, Korea, and ships.
It wouldn't seem like much, but I believe that the minor nations that make up the focal point of this DLC will get units as well. (Ie. Couple daimyo will have unique units specific to them)

Also, we have this little thing (from December 20 Dev Diary), so we can expect an East Asian Ships Pack.

Chinese Junks, very common, and one of the first known ships to sail from China to Africa.

Ayutthaya have units already.

Low-res models*. And not THAT unique, yeah some other textures than the rest of them, but so does Japan and the Ming Dynasty. Glad that the latter two do get a confirmed update, hoping for Ayutthaya too.

Don't mean to derail about the current unit pack coming this way but I am hoping someone can help answer a question of mine. As my signature says I am working on my AAR and as I get closer to EU4 I was wondering about the winged hussar pack near the bottom. Are those the 4 skins for cavalry for Poland as you tech up? I can't exactly check on my own time since I am running through CK2 to make sure it gets done (getting all my screenshots together that is) before the 7th, don't want to risk my save becoming unstable or un-usable.

You can always roll back to the current CKII patch level through the beta tab. As long as you don't save the save in the new patch (which means don't even open it if you're using ironman) then nothing will happen to it.

Thank you :)

Yeah I thought about that and how I could do it that way too, but I don't want to risk the converter being updated to Monks&Mystics level and it messing with my save. This game was already started before RD released and I have a tendency to procrastinate. I do appreciate the advice really but I don't want to risk my laziness coming back to bite me in the butt.

There are small differences, but overall turns out you were right.

Intresting....I've never seen such a neck guard on Ming armor, that was more of a Qing thing. The mirror plate he is wearing on his chest also has weird straps, they're supposed to be much thinner and run side by side, up and down. Still, the model looks very well done

Do remember that they do some artistic liberty here and there sometimes.

Or you could take into account that it actually is a Manchu/Qing T1 troop :p

Even if it is Ming, it is still a vast upgrade over what we have now

The middle ones are Ming, because Johan posted their shades on Twitter. Right is probably Qing tier 2/3 (or Mongolian).

Middle looks like drawings of Ming Iron Troops I've seen. For sure Ming, Korea, Japan and Manchu will get units, I just hope there's another for the hordes, Mongolia needs some love.

The Iron troops actually wore steel scale armor, not brigandine. But I agree the armor's silhouette does look similar.

I dunno why but the more I look at the middle model the more I see a neck cast, like if the soldier broke his neck on campaign lol. I still honestly feel slightly disappointed if that was the Ming model, but hey what are mods for?

I doubt the right ones are Qing, I'm pretty sure the Qing models would be based on the uniforms for Qing soldiers in real life, as they existed up to 1911. He does look Mongolian though, looking at the coat he is wearing. The hat he has also reminds me of those the Russian cossack cavalry wore in the 1800s, and since Russia did have influence over the Mongol region I wouldn't be surprised if that were referencing to their presence north of Mongolia
