The important thing is to (also) make the wife young.

I oppose too many edits. If your wife is old and you deperately need an heir, use ingame methods to resolve the issue. Worst case we rehost and he plays his brother.

4) Savoie and Upper Lorraine transfered to France from Germany
5) Something transfered from Flanders to Brabant

Brabant will also need a transfer to France.
Don't give them provinces from Flandern though. Upper Lorraine has 10(?) provinces at start so editing the two northermost to Brabant might be better. Flanders may be rich but it has few provinces.

Good observations and suggestions. And as we've found out in other MP's, even if you die without a heir there is still a cousin hiding under a stone somewhere...

Ok, a list of (wild) suggestions for next edition.

1) One of us (Johan?) plays King of France.
2) Duke of Normandy made bastard of the King, which drops him away from the line of heritage
3) Duke of Brittany and his wife made youngsters
4) Savoie and Upper Lorraine transfered to France from Germany
5) Something transfered from Flanders to Brabant

That way we'd get within France 9 good playable positions.

Ah, it will be hard to play a duke again... but oh well. Also, I think that the Duke of Brittany should remain the same age, he does have brothers right? If I ever get a wife that isn't good enough (which, in my eyes, is quite a few), I just introduce her to Mr. Knife. You should learn to be evil and heartless too, Aldo. :D But really, I agree with Flo, no editing should be done to make a player better. After all, I'm not complaining about the editing done to make my character much worse (even though it does bring me down to everyone else's level).

How will we choose the King? ;)

EDIT: I know, let's put our names in alphabetic order A at the top, Z at bottom, and whoever's name is lowest is King... :D

I think it's better to edit france to (semisalic?) so that it's open for wily marriage brokers to marry into. The most successful diplomat/assassin gets the throne.

2) Duke of Normandy made bastard of the King, which drops him away from the line of heritage

Seconded.

3) Duke of Brittany and his wife made youngsters

Seconded. Otherwise we're just in a crash/rehost mess..

4) Savoie and Upper Lorraine transfered to France from Germany

Fine with me.

5) Something transfered from Flanders to Brabant

Vehemently opposed! :D

Flanders is poorer than Normandy and Bourgogne.

I never suggested edits at all. I don't want to play Brittany next time though. The starting Duke has a son that also has an old wife that for me last time ended with a crash due to my dynasty dying out.

I may be too softhearted though. :)

I really prefer (with a human King or Normandy inheriting France) extra players in counties that can be promoted by the King to Dukes in conquered European lands (Savoi/Lorraine/Luxembourg etc.) or heathen lands. I volanteer as Count!

Sorry, guys. I had to run in the middle of the session, and the timing of this game just isn't right. I'll have to miss this one; I can't commit without risk of another interruption.

I took a look at Brittany. The Duke has worms and is married to a 28 year old woman. The Duke has no children, but he does have a brother. The brother is married with a 34 (IIRC) years old woman who has *excellent* stats. With some luck either of these two couples will have a child. Of course to make it sure the duke should kill the wife of of the brother and marry to him a 17 year old girl. Too bad the current wife of the brother is *excellent* (did I mention that already?).

As for edits, to keep it to mimimum and still keep the focus in one place:

1) Upper-Lorraine, Brabant and Savoie transfered from Germany to France.

2) Andernach from U-L to Brabant.

3) Duke of Normandy made a bastard son of the King.

Comments, please!

Don't forget to switch France to semisalic so marrying into the family becomes a possibility.
Will do that.

I'll make the changes to a save-file tonight so that only the host needs to have the file. Of course if everybody dl the save before the game we'll be able to start a few seconds faster.

The save for download

A save made from the 1337 scenario start with the following edits:

1) France is semisalic primosomething
2) Savoy, Upper Lorraine and Brabant transfered to France from Germany
3) Andernach transfered from U-L to Brabant
4) Duke of Normandy has the trait "Bastard", and is thus not a heir of France.

Well I'll be there for sure :) Either is Crusaders channel, or if V-Net is down in ICQ.

Care to do some one-on-one hosting as we seemed a bit incompatible last session?
Sure. I'll be home from work at around 21 CET today. I'll put my ICQ on then. Tomorrow I'll be home from work at about 18 CET if today is not good.

Anybody else wishing to test their routers/connections are also welcome to the testings, if V-Net is still down we'll agree on ICQ on whose IP to host :)

Slargos, I need to test to see if I can connect to you via IP. I know I can't connect to Jarkko, due to router, but I used to be able to connect to Patrucio. But, hopefully Vnet is up by tomorrow...

Remember, just under 2 hours...

Errr... Not really... Still *over* two hours :) 20:00CET, the time is now 17:27 CET.

EDIT: Dang, Byak was faster :)
