demokratickid - It's always a possibility but don't jump to conclusions.

germanpeon - Exactly.

Venz - Given the history of the Khan's position the odds point that way.

nette001 - I hear that the thouands being slaughtered in battle also fail to see it as a game. Funny that.

Chief Ragusa - Sounds a reasonable way to direct conquest to me.

billy bob - Its a true conquerors breakfast is it not?

coz1 - Thats true about the khan, and about the Horde too I think.

GhostWriter - Thanks, great to see you back.

Old Joe - I think thats the least of his problems now.

Ulugh V : Part 4
Different people saw many different things to Ulugh. Foreign dignitaries tended to see two apparently contradictory things. On one hand they saw an adorable young boy who was prone to throwing tantrums when his minders refused to allow him to play Beheading® (a popular game in the Horde similar to hangman today) and on the other they saw an object of fear who had the power to direct millions of men at arms. For the everyday people of the Horde they saw in Ulugh an almost godlike figure, as Khan he was looked up to with great reverence. However in the ten men of the Horde council they saw one thing only, opportunity. This young khan was just the thing they had been waiting for.

So it was that in March 1815 the Edict of Allah was issued. Speaking with all the authority the Council could muster they announced that the recent aggression of many nations against the Horde plus unfortunate events of the wars were clear signs that Allah was not pleased by the leadership of the Golden Horde. In order to rectify the issue immediately and ensure the continued glory of the Horde the Council would now oversee all matters of running the Horde and no longer require the approval the Khan for any decision.

It was a poorly covered coup and few bought into it. There would be uprisings.

Revolts against the Council get underway

The presence of rebels just indicates that the Horde has maintained its sense of national identity for four centuries, resisting the urge to fall to the uncivilised ways of the west and their "debate" and "reason" :p

Oh, just wait until baby Khan comes of age. His wraith will be fuwious! :D

*sigh*

I wondered when a Khan would get around to dissolving the quasi-democratic institution of the Council. I guess that time has come. ;)

BOOOO!

I want a civil war!

hmmm. it seems that the Council needs to learn how to "cook the books" a little better ! ! :D ;)

awesome update ! !

Hey, it's 4 years until the end of the game! There won't even be enough time for the great little Khan to grow up, let alone cwush the council! I demand that this be continued for at least some time after 1819 :p.

demokratickid - It is a very bold move. Will it last?

Chief Ragusa - Golden Horde change? Don't be silly.

Falastur - Quite right. The Horde is a proud nation and refuses to change for anyone. Rebels all the way.

coz1 - :D I wonder if it will be so cute when he swinging an axe in the direction of the council.

germanpeon - It should have been done sooner don't you think?

billy bob - Of course you do.

GhostWriter - Haha, too true but these are early days for coups of this nature.

Emperor_krk - I do have the no time limit patch installed so the end mightn't be abrupt.

Ulugh V : Part 5
The time immediately following the Horde Council's seizure of power from Ulugh V became known as the blood period. Some have suggested this was due to the fact that the Horde was no longer controlled by those bearing royal blood. However the truth is much much simpler. It was really a period characterised by a lot of blood.

First it was spilled in the month after the change of power by as royalists rose up in support of their khan. The army however remained loyal to its generals on the council. Retribution was swift and sharp. The Council survived its first challenge with little trouble.

The imams on the council soon found that there was nothing holding back their desire to crush the heathens within the Horde. Whereas under the old system the population had had to be the first to take up arms the army could now be put on conversion duty. Results were quick.

But ultimately the army would have little time for conversion duty as it was stretched thin dealing with revolts across the land.

In the Balkans

In Italy

And in Persia

In fact it seemed that rebels were so attracted to the Horde that even those over the border were keen to get in on the fun.

Inexplicably the Confucian Manchu people of far eastern Asia decide that they will be better off under the Muslim Golden Horde from the fringes of Europe

Events came to a head when Sicily declared independence from the Horde citing irreconcilable differences.

Cursed Italians

Not surprisingly the Italians put up little fight and were soon overrun by the Horde.
854-overrun.png
Somewhat surprisingly they were allowed to keep their lands and independence only having to accept to pay tribute to the Horde annually. Was it a sign that the Horde Council was recognising the limits of its power? How would the rest of the Horde take such a peace deal?

OFF WITH THEIR HEADS! THEY ARE uZBEKS IN DISGUISE! LONG LIVE THE KHAN!

Okay, the Council slaughters royalists....and uses the army to force convert...yet when Sicily revolts away the army goes in, kills some people and the council let's both provinces GO? Did the council take a nap that day? No horde member even RECOGNIZES limits, let alone believes in them! What happened? Who gave the council bad advice? Heads SHOULD roll, but probably won't....

Those Sicilians won't remain independent long or the Council will fall. Young Ulugh V's favourite word is "Kwush". Those Chinese just don't understand rebellion. The Council's strange ideas are a change too far.

It's either the Sicilian Mafia, or maybe the Council Generals are carving out their own independent empires. Either way, I hope the Khan discovers Miracle-Gwo because he's only got a handful of years to grow big and strong and axe off their heads for their insolence...
