Looks great, I really like the symbols and they look really nice with the background colour. A quill might do as well, but the letters are rather understandable.

The only thing that still needs attention is the frame...
Cheers

Looks good Gwalcmai, damn professional if you ask me. Other than the troop building icon being in gold and the rest silver they look really good. Either give each one a distinctive color or make them all the same.

BTW don't listen to ptah I rather like the rifles above the ship.

Quoting myself : I'll just point out the symbols are silver and turn gold when the mouse hovers over them.

....I've just noticed that one of the buttons is gold when the rest are silver.....are you messing up?... ;)

What sprites will be included for the next version? Have the glitches with the aeroplanes been rectified? :)

What glitches with aeroplanes? I can only remember that problem with the L-1 MIN sprite.

Anyway, the damn 'puter is going crazy, so I don't know what I'll have ready.

I have in mind the presence of a brown line instead of a sprite for a certain plane when it is stationary, as well as the flickering that occurs when they go into combat.

The brown line was the L-1 MIN sprite. Something to do with the contents of the STAND SPR file, but I don't remember what the problem was. I'll try to find a copy still carrying the error. Either that or look around all the threads to find the fix I posted. Hmmm...

As for the combat flickering, which sprite has that problem?

Does this one look familiar? :)

Yes, it does. It's the Maurice Farman recon plane sprite Stephen made. :p

I'll try to figure out what's causing that.

Its called the Pokemon Doctrine. You defeat the enemy by giving it a spas attack.

Soldier: Hah! I have you now you stinking tommy!
*Plane dissapears*
Soldier: Huh?

(Sorry about that, just couldn´t resist, I agree that thie airplane problem is a huge problem and sould be fixed, please come up with a tank sprite too, pronto!)

Gwalcmai, we shall also need some sort of sprite for Guards infantry - at the moment, mine are using the mechanised sprite (a fortress). I think it would be best if the infantry sprites were duplicated for each country and saved with a different name so that they appear as the Guards' sprite. At the moment, I'll come up with something provisional, but I don't intend for it to last.

Also, could I have the files for the counters? Whoever has them....?

The problem with the flickering bomber is solved, I think.

Basically, the "walk" animation is fourteen 68 x 56 pixel images side by side. I'd assumed that the "fight" animation was the same, and copied it over. Unfortunately, it turns out that it's actually thirteen 72 x 56 pixel images.

The following amended sprite files should now work. I don't know why there's both a FIRE and FIGHT animation; possibly one isn't actually needed.

T-NAVAL A-FIGHT C-MIN L-1 D-NE.bmp
T-NAVAL%20A-FIGHT%20C-MIN%20L-1%20D-NE.bmp

T-NAVAL A-FIGHT C-MIN L-1 D-SW.bmp
T-NAVAL%20A-FIGHT%20C-MIN%20L-1%20D-SW.bmp

T-NAVAL A-FIRE C-MIN L-1 D-NE.bmp
T-NAVAL%20A-FIRE%20C-MIN%20L-1%20D-NE.bmp

T-NAVAL A-FIRE C-MIN L-1 D-SW.bmp
T-NAVAL%20A-FIRE%20C-MIN%20L-1%20D-SW.bmp

I've no idea what's causing the vertical line problem.

Gwalchmai - will there be a WW1 bomber sprite? Even a generic one, rather than personalised national sprites?

About the Guards, I'd say the easiest way, at least until something better is created, is to just copy the contents of the infantry SPR files into the mech ones. The graphics files don't have to change, and everything looks fine. In fact, possibly all the different regular infantry types in the mod should get the normal infantry look.

FIGHT/FIRE animations: I really don't know why there are two different combat image files for airplanes. I just used the same image files for both.

As for bombers, we'll eventually have some, I think, but I wasn't rushing...

Allenby, I'll just send you the whole bundle, then. As for the counters, the files are still in the server, so you just need to go back to the page which has the links and pull the counter pack.

Random wisdom : Never go on the defence when one goal will knock you out of the Champions League. :)

I tried doing this myself and I got some funny results - firstly, I got a long row of infantry sprites appearing on screen except for one, and then I managed to get just the one, but standing lower down the screen than normal infantry sprites

Excellent! I'll go and get them, then :) And how about the brigade attachment icons? :)

....as a Tottenham supporter I wouldn't know what it's like to be in that competition..... :(

Milkshape keeps hanging my computer. :( I can't complete new sprites without fixing it. And I had a Nieuport in "Uncle Sam" finish, with blue wings and red-white-striped fuselage, ready to get the finishing touches...

Oh well, I'll just verify what I have and send it, then.

Could someone using the mod dir version of TGW verify if the TGW sprites show up, please? I'm running into a strange problem, and I'm beginning to wonder if moddir works for sprites... And as my version is now completely messed up, maybe someone with a cleaner version could help me out.

EDIT : scratch that, mod-dir does work with sprites, but, as always, files of the same name must exist in the HOI base... This could be messy.
