That was a typo. It's fixed now.
Anyway, that's what I mean with "COMPLEX ISSUE". If you cannot figure the correct link out like Flame Of Udun did, I don't think this toolset is something for you. With that I mean that you need a mentality of "hey, this don't work, what's wrong and how can I fix this myself?" instead of immediately crying for help. ;)

I just tried it with the GIMP and it doesn't save it the way Magellan expects. Oh well, I wasn't really expecting it to work. Still, great to see this released. What a great time to happen upon checking the forums! ;)

Now I just need to go through the other things on my list...

lol.. i'll be available for help if anybody wants to ask me questions.
What files do I open with what. I keep trying to open the .tbl files with either of the mextracts (1615 and 2020) but none of the lightmaps open. In fact, nothing in the "Map" folder will open and the only tool that works if the colour scales..... :(

You don't need to open the files separately. Reread the tutorial I posted: it says you need to specify the directory a level BELOW the Map directory (in other words, the base EU2 directory). The tools go looking for files in their specific locations.

It's not *THAT* hard.

MEXTRACT <destination[.eu2map]> [/D:directory] [/O] [/1|/2|/3]

<destination> Specifies the file to export to. The extension is automatically added if it is omitted.
/O Allows overwriting an existing file when extracting.
/D:<dir> Specifies the base directory to look for the files. This should be the root EU2 directory.
/1 Indicates to only extract lightmap1.
/2 Indicates to only extract lightmap1 and lightmap2.
/3 Indicates to extract all lightmaps.
/G Forces ID tbl to be generated from lightmap1, even if the program thinks it shouldn't be.

The extractor will lookup the EU2 path through the registry.
By default, the extractor will extract all 3 lightmaps.

Then where do I type this?

When I double-click one of the tools, the command promt is up for maybe a second and in that time all you can read is some error thing before it closes.

Run command (win9x, winme) or cmd (winnt, win2000, winxp) from the start=>run menu and run the program through it.

i copied the file cmd.exe in the magellan folder, then i changed the target to c:/magellan (my magellan folder). Anyway, when i do mimage, i have weird shapes with borders but nothing looking like a map. Could someone tell me what coordinates to use with /R in mimage?

Eh, that depends on what part of the map you want to export...

WiSK's map editor (although not finished yet) contains a grid with values of each block on the map. You can get the block coordinates from there. In order to get the pixel coordinates just take the numbers in WiSK's editor times 32 (each block contains 32 pixels).

WiSK's editor can be found here:

The mview tool has the same info.

Okay, one more time.... and now in English......

Let us say that all the magellan files and the .eu2map viewer are all in the Europa Universalis 2 folder. I am using v1.08 and there is a copy of the provence.csv in the Map folder. What would I type into the command promt to get this stuff to work.... I suck with using my command prompt

THere's no need to put everything in the EU2 dir. The tools do not work directly on the EU2 anyway.

Take a look at the tutorial in the Magellan beta 1 thread. It explains how to do stuff.
