Istanbul Taskizak and Golcuk are two separate naval arsenals. When Istanbul and the Turkish Straits (Bosphorus and Dardanelles) were demilitarized after WWI, most of the arsenal was moved to Golcuk (Kocaeli, close to Izmit) but following the Montreaux Treaty of 1936, the Straits and Istanbul was militarized again, leading to Taskizak operate as a separate naval arsenal.

According to an agreement with Germania Werft (Germany), two submarines; "Atilay" and "Yildiray" were constructed in Taskizak Tersanesi in 1939.

However the bulk of the arsenal capacity remained in Golcuk and Taskizak operated as a repair / upgrade facility and focused on the construction of smaller vessels.

Golcuk Tersanesi (Arsenal) on the other hand was a sophisticated naval base with a shipyard capable of building destroyers, frigates, torpedo boats and submarines.

I’ve now changeed the worst pictures of the faces. Is this what you thought of? Looks kind a wierd with the white frame, but it’s the best it can get I guess.

Copy it over any picture by paradox (tech-team picture)? So you had to do this with all of my pictures?
Yes I did. And also some photoshopping to avoid the withe bars:

@Tunch Khan

I have updated the tech teams according to your inputs (for example Gölcük Tersanesi is now skill 4 and Istanbul Taskizak Tersanesi is skill 3) please see here the updated tech team for Turkey http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10442840&postcount=598. Could you please let us know whether your are fine with that?

Thanks for flattering me, but I'm not an expert. I just try my best to fill in the blanks wherever necessary.

Your final list is more refined than most other mods and I really like it.

Nuri Demirag (check minor typo) has some pictures over here.

I'm looking for the consensus especially when I don't master the matter! :)

I have amended the typo. Are you able to help on the pictures? kunadam explained the way in which they should be made. Please see here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10442436&postcount=596

@ All,

Could you please let me know your thoughts about this proposal? I would say, for example, that Keynes was a great economist (one of the greatest ever) but I cannot see any economics in HOI2 tech tree. A second example is that Rolls Royce produced and it is still producing the best aeronautics engines in the world but, unfortunately, engines are not included in the tech tree.

It is too late for that but I think that some specific additions like medicine, economics, cryptology, computer science, etc. to the tech tree would have been a nice feature.

No doubt Keynes is one of the greatest economist and management-theorist known to man. I agree with Cardus though - including him in AOD feels like a step in the wrong direction.

When it comes to Rolls-Royce Motors, I think it can be included. It was definitely an aero-engine manufacturing company, but it was also a major producer of cars. Here and here are two of the cars it produced in the 30s and 40s. In the early 50s it also produced this aircraft. Yes, I consider the Rolls-Royce Motors to have the potential of developing “new technology” in some fields. It could have “mechanics” and maybe “electronics” and “technical efficiency” as team specialties. I’m more skeptical of representing it with aeronautics. It’s a question of how significant the mere engine is for the performance and character of the aircraft itself I guess.

Yes I did. And also some photoshopping to avoid the withe bars:

Nice. Damn you’re good. I’m struggling with MS Paint mostly :p.

Really appreciate your efforts on this project.

Rolls Royce made and actually still makes beautiful luxury cars but in terms of a war game this has little relevance. What is or better it should be really relevant is the ability/capacity Rolls Royce has to build aircraft engines. The Merlin really made the difference in WWII. In my opinion it is a real pity that the tech tree doesn't take into account the engines. Just for a comparison Macchi, Fiat and Reggiane aircrafts could match/outclass the Allies fighters only when they could use the DB engines and get rid of Alfa/Isotta Fraschini engines.
So my opinion is to not consider Rolls Royce even thought from the historical and logical point of view is senseless.

I recognize your arguments, so I think I’m sort of ambivalent when it comes to including Rolls Royce or not. Anyways…maybe Rolls Royce is too much of a niche-company to fit into the abstract tech-world of HOI2-AOD.

We should get A LOT of inspiration from this thread. Tech-teams for the 1914-mod…

I will add one argument. An abstract one:
Many tech teams are actually niche companies and people (like top scientist, railways, oil companies). So that is fine.
Also in AoD one could run 10 research at the same time. If none else USA will have the IC/money, whatnot to do it. It also means, that there is a need for second and third "rate" teams. Here rate means that there are a better team for that given technology, but the one chosen is still good, and the best do something else. For example one team researches destroyer while the other carrier.
Thus please do include these teams.

If they did it right then those teams are relevant for WWI and not WWII and Cold War. Also IIRC the tech setup including specialties are completly different in the 1914 mod.
We should focus on the '40-'50 where AoD extends the game play.

The reason why we are doing this exercise is because of what you mentioned above but the idea is to give some ground to it.
Regarding aeronautics UK has already a very large choice (7 tech teams) and we do need to assign the first team we can think about just for the sake of the ten slots.

Instead of Rolls Royce, not suitable for the earlier mentioned reasons, please find below two proposals which I see suitable

Westland Aircraft

Bristol Aeroplane Company

That is right. for example regarding Italy I was thinking about Olivetti.

Yeah, but lots of proposed tech-teams (mainly the industry, not the doctrine teams) in that thread is also entirely relevant for the WWII-period. We can use it as “a base of operation” to get ideas and collect knowledge on which industry that basically existed and was accessible to each country, also in the 30s, 40s and 50s. We shall not copy anything. It should be a good reference for minors in Latin America and Asia I think.

Romania

Şantierul Naval Constanţa (Constanţa Shipyard) needs some liftup otherwise the air team (IAR) would research all ships.

Dimitrie Leonida: He was a professor of physics doing thing in electronics. Why mechanics and artillery? There is a mistake here. There is a Leonida automobile workshop
http://autoturism.rdslink.ro/gbist.htm
It did the conversion of Sov tanks.

Uzinele Metallurgice Copșa Mică și Cugir
Note2: The original had training, I have retained it.

Costin D. Neniţescu
Note2: Added industrial engineering. He was a prominent figure behind the industrialization of Romania.

As promised, here are the accompanying pics for the ENG teams I suggested earlier. For some reason imageshack converts them to png files. You will need to convert them back to BMP: this can easily be done in paint. If you wish however, I can email the BMP files to you (you would need to PM me your email address though).

I have renumbered the IDs to take into account the removal of Keynes and Rolls Royce. Perfectly understand the logic behind not including them, but it is a shame about Rolls Royce, as they would have been cool! But I understand completely:)

As for Bristol and Westland Aircraft: I would be happy to make these if anyone wants them, but I think you made a good point earlier: the UK has enough Aeronautics teams by now.

I don't think any of the teams I suggested would be appropriate for Scotland or other revolters: I have a few ideas though, so will whip up a few teams for them.
