I´m new to this forum and has recently installed EU2 on my new computer PIII XP 2,0 Gz. It worked to install but frooze in the game after only a short while. I have changed the name on the avi file and istalled the 1.07 and run on the Vision park disc.

What shall I do??

You say it froze in the game. Do you mean that the the game actually froze (you were still in the game but nothing was happening.. complete stand-still) or did the game crash after starting it, dropping you to the Windows desktop?

Also, you might want to change the name of the whole avi folder or simply deleting it instead of just renaming one avi file.

The whole avi-folder-Binkplayer-thing is probably the most common problem of all when the game doesn't want to startup correctly.

If the above won't work, I suggest you check out the support forum and the Support FAQ.

I had a similar expirence when I first got EUII a few months back. It froze in game on me 2 or 3 times but ran okay other times.

I deleted everything, reloaded and patched to 1.07 and havent had a problem since. Try a new install see how it goes.

Good luck

it plays the intro and yes i can be safely removed.

also try upgrading all your drivers to the newest vailable might do the trick.

upgrade directx and all your drivers.

have you got the old drivers lying aroudn somewhere?

if you do then an update might be worth a try, to see if it helps anything.

New drivers aren't neccesarily better with such an old card as a geforce

you stated
Have Nvidia Geforce, runs at 30.something
either you forgot the 4 or just shortened it. in any case my guess is you confused Kurtbrian. In cases such as this it is usually better to refer to your specs completley, don't shorten, and be sure YOU know what you have. This helps the people helping you. ;)

Please do not cross post, you already have a thread open in the support forum, where this discussion properly belongs.

The problem is your old drivers, it is a known problem with those drivers.

Hey, it's not just an accusation, it's true :)

Remember that people are trying to help you voluntarily - there is no point in trying their patience by making them answer the same questions twice. If you are not sure which forum you should post to, then it would be better just to guess, and if it's wrong, a moderator will move it.

I simply informed you of net etiquette, it is the same everywhere.
Hey I even said PLEASE! ;)

And I did tell you what the problem was!

Have you updated your sound drivers as well?
What brand of CPU do you have?

Pentium 3 2,0Gz
yes updated sound drivers.
But I found out that you can downgrade the XP to a lower compability FREX win 98. So I took it down to win 98 during gameplay and it makes things go slower but it doesn´t freeze as often. Apparently XP demands so much memory so you have to downgrade it to run certain games.

Windows XP has that handy feature that if you left click the game icon and go to properties you can tell XP that you want to run the game in Win98, 95 or whatever op system came before the one you are currently using.

But your still freezing, you shouldnt have a problem with those specs at all, I still think you ought to do a fresh install and patch worked for me.
