Will tomorrow/Saturday's release be savegame-compatible? I got a good thing going with my game in the current version.
The next release will be once NBRT+ has been updated for the latest version of SWMH. When exactly that'll be we don't know.

As there haven't really been anything major happening to any mod in HIP since the last release, I doubt saves will be affected.

Install python2 and run the main.py file... There you have your installer.

I have downloaded python 2.7 and clicked on the main.py file and I get a a white box that says Python Shell but nothing happens.

I have never used (or even understand what python is) - what do i do to make this work?
can someone provide some baby steps for newbies - it would be a shame for all your hard work to go to waste because we dont know how to get the installer working.

Next Version will of NBRT+ will fully support latest Version of SWMH. Im working atm on complete new Highres Textures for both Versions of NBRT+ (HIP and MEIOU&Taxes)
Some Screenshots of actual ingame highres Textures can be seen here : http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...discussion&p=16931913&viewfull=1#post16931913

In CK2 Textures will look better, because of greater Scale of the Map.

Ingame Screenshots running HIP soon(tm) ... :)

This decision has been had (before you joined the team). Most everyone agreed that just using the date as the version for HIP itself made the most sense.
The date option is, of course, totally irrelevant to the savegame compatibility question, unless users are supposed to assume that every HIP release is savegame-incompatible. Also, dates have not been provided until the latest major release, so...

Decisions can and should be re-evaluated sometimes. Several of them are being reevaluated right now, in fact.

Why don't you download the new Mac-friendly installer beta here:
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...Support-First-Public-Release-(feedback-wanted!)

I'm assuming you're running on a Mac if you're not just clicking on the EXE for Windows. If so, follow the simple instructions in that thread (and download the new installer beta version to which it links). However, even if you were running on Windows, it should work to double-click the Mac-friendly installer then. If the python shell pops up, then try typing (and then hitting ENTER):

main()

So are there any modules on this that won't destroy my saves? I've tried not installing SWMH but still doesn't work.

If your old save was with SWMH then trying it without SWMH won't work. Currently only SWMH is savegame compatible.

So I'm running Crusader Kings 2 on Ubuntu, and want to use HIP. I check the Readme.txt and it says:

6. If using NBRT+ interface, copy the "NBRT+" folder
* If not using SWMH, delete Historical Immersion Project\map\terrain.bmp and trees.bmp
* If not using SWMH, delete Historical Immersion Project\map\terrain\colormap.dds and colormap_water.dds
* If using ARKO armoiries, also copy the "NBRT+ARKO" folder

Since I plan on converting to EU4 once I'm done, and it seems SWMH doesn't support the Converter, I choose VIET Immersion rather than SWMH and thus ought to follow the instructions above and remove those files. Yet, I can't find the files. Are those instructions old? Have they been moved somewhere else and you simply forgot to change the Readme? I just want to play this one, and I'm to unsure to just try to make it fly.

They've been moved to the folder "NBRT+SWMH".
Come next release there probably won't be any manual instructions at all though, as then the installer should work for both OS X and Linux .
Since you're on Linux, it'd be appreciated if you'd try the beta version of the new installer. See this thread.

Sure, I can try out the Beta. Thanks for the quick answer!

So, I get an error message with the Python installer. I thought you should know.
