2) Meglok is a forum veteran, he has 3.6k posts and posts a lot in popular threads and dev diaries. He has surely read the last diary where we talked about what AI issues were our priorities after 1.3.3.

Yes, I did read that. But I also know that priorities can change over 2 months, especially after the many comments and issues people have reported with the changes caused by 1.3.3. For instance the production line shutdown issue, the ai handling lack of resources poorly, the generic ai template scripts not handling well the lack of resource penalties in 1.3.3, and lack of trade for Japan caused by the new distance to trade penalties.

In fact he comments on page 3 of that diary saying how much better SP has gotten with the patch.

Got me there. Ah the exuberance of the first day glance. Many of the ai changes in 1.3.3 were and are very good, like the naval changes, the improved garrison order, and the many minor tweaks and corrections. But then I looked deeper at why things had gotten easier against the Axis and saw the suicide naval transports, the deploying to Africa, and front shuffling were back with vengeance, along with the issues above. Kind of like first seeing a hot looking blind date, only to find out they don't use deodorant and have bad breath. My posts since the first week have been somewhat less kind to SP 1.3.3.

anyways guys, I hear ya. You'd have loved to know it all right away and hear about AI stuff, I explained (I thought) why we arent ready to show off that. Seems when people actually discuss Romania and diary content they like the stuff they see.
See you all after easter next week for next diary!

Thank you as always for your and the staffs time and effort on this project.

Weird, that there is nothing about little entente. I am curious about "split Czechoslovakia" focus, since Romania and Czechoslovakia had great relations between each other.
It´s probably Romania taking Carpathian Ruthenia and Hungary taking Slovakia. Czech part would perhaps remain, since there already is a custom tag for Czechoslovakia having only Bohemia and Moravia - Czech republic.

Well, so far this mod seems superior to what seems to be a "Monarch Babying Simulator." The Iron Guard are a lot more fascinating than Carol the Boring Philanderer.

Paradox is now giving us content that is already available as mods. "ENHANCED PEACE CONFERENCE V2" coming soon.

As no small historian of Romania during WW1 and WW2, I would like the opportunity to comment on Paradox's Romanian National Focus Tree but I understand that dissent against Paradox is received nebulously at best. "Why come here, if it is not to worship?"

Go ahead and comment on it then, don't leave us in the dark.

Edit: I see in the tree that if you wish to strengthen Romanian and Polish ties, that's the Allies path. What if Poland forms the Intermarium?

Made by Romanians (although having been born there and living in the US, the cross linguistic syntax in their English burns holes in my retinas and brain when I read their events judging by their Steam pics), and apparently the mod went through a lot of changes, I remember seeing it in its infancy. They also apparently have a lot of strong opinions about the Carol and Michael NF choices (for reasons I don't care to learn, since everyone in Romania is an expert on something, [trust me, I'm speaking as an expert on Romanians]). If Michael leading a coup is as historically implausible as they claim, I'm all for it, but I dig the alt-history stuff.

Point being, yea, as an ex-patriate, I also feel their mod is VASTLY superior in content and flavor to this expansion (minus the 3d models, went to a military museum in Bucharest with my dad, and PDX's models are dopely accurate, as they usually are).

The mod's NFs however, sound and feel more Romanian, and there's a ton more.

I don't get how y'all over at PDX don't understand that your focus trees are too small yet...

Seriously, please do (check my signature if you're still worried, dissenting opinions are THE most important ones) most folks in the US don't really know Romanian history (gee, I wonder why lol....), so if there are glaring problems with the new expansion's hypotheticals, I don't think most US players (myself included) would catch it.

Thanks for asking actual questions about the tree btw.

Also, @podcat, or whoever decides the content, since y'all are complaining that no one's talking about it lol: how come "the day we turned arms" or whatever the Romanians flipping sides during the war isn't a thing. It's literally one of the most important things that happened in that country during WW2. Like, MASSIVELY important, and not just cause I say it is. Ask around.

I do dig the shoutout to Ploiesti, I was born there, stepdad and dad worked in the oil fields at one point, met a dude here in the US while I was working at a diner in my teenage years who claimed he flew a bomber over them during the war. Glad that was a thing that was included. The mines, I never heard of lol, hope that's an important

PS: seriously, could you please link some kind of historical something about the Baita Bihor mine during WW2, or is that some kind of hypothetical thing like the NZ heavy tank and the Carrier make out of cork? (amazing stuff by the way, just like Hobart being a general in HOI 3, I laughed my ass off and immediately created the funnies). A cursory google check comes up with nothing, and I speak Romanian mind you, tried a bunch of stuff. Please educate this poor, ignorant soul. Or does the NF just give you copper from the mines there, which means copper is gonna be a thing now lol?

I must agree the trees could be larger. I would not mind this, but I fear that PDX will be very hesitant to make any major tree improvements later on.

It's just that I hate running out of NF stuff to do by 1941, (despite the continuous foci that are thing now) and they're SUCH an amazing game mechanic. I've never seen something like them before, and I wish there was more of it. I also get that they'd need retool some of the old ones, but I for one really like folks saying my bad, mea culpa, shit happens, let's see how we can make it better. I absolutely love that mindset in business, it feels sincere.

Not to say they're not, but it's just a bummer.

Anyway, I don't wanna derail the thread, I'm stoked as hell to hear back from them about the Baita mines and my NF tree question lol. I'm about to text my dad about it too, he oughta be able to shed some light on those darn mines lol.

Yeah, yeah! Though, can you go down the other trees if you become friends with Poland and don't want to join the Allies?

Historically, Romania followed a very flexible policy, negotiating with the Germans and the Allies in parallel, trying to get the best deal. This is represented in game by not locking you into an alliance branch too early. As long as you aren’t part of a faction, you can negotiate freely to get new technologies and equipment from the major powers (how you get that equipment will be revealed in the next dev diary).

Looks like Romania can go down every path until it makes a definitive choice, so I guess becoming friend with Poland won't harm you.
By the way, I was wondering... Could "the Cordon Sanitaire" make you join the Polish faction?

Oh man, the Pykrete Carrier? Man, I wish that there would be a dlc that just adds in all those cooky inventions, like drill tanks and pipe men.

yea lol, wikipedia says Project Habakkuk, I remember having a few one night and going on a wikipedia binge after I read about that one and Hobart's Funnies, it was SO awesome

PS: holy crap, how did I make that a hyperlink???!!!
