Its probably too early to pass judgement on the DLC given that next week they are revealing non-focus tree features.

? I just refer to what @podcat wrote...

I plain fail at the logic: we did it for allies (Brits) on last DLC and ppl were upset we didnt address more of the AI (because they played Germany?). Instead of getting the AI fixed and telling us whats going on in the AI department, we get ...

TfV Axis version?

So that was the first big lesson: new content needs to tie back to major countries, particularly Germany.

Would this be in the form of (news)events? I personally really like seeing what's going on in other countries via events, and kinda missed that in TvF. For example I would've loved to see a news event pop up whenever a country becomes independent.

I think I read a post a while back where you said you didn't want to add too many events that don't directly affect gameplay, so I'm curious how you're planning to tie in the new content :)

Also, the Romanian focus tree looks awesome, so I guess it's time to start the hype train.

Great diary in all, and I do really like the Reflections part, but... like others have said what about the AI? It is the biggest complain of the game. SINCE LAUNCH by the way!

That many people play Germany? I have never played them. Even with the portraits turned of playing the nazis rubs me the wrong way. Now if you gave me an option to depose the filthy little revolutionary and put the kaiser back in power that would be an entirely different matter.

What I'm really saying is that Germany plays way to linear. I get that it's needed because they are the force whihc acts upon the game which makes the world war happen but still.

Sorry, that "excuse" no longer holds much weight, not when the glaring issues are literally game breaking to the vanilla single player game unless you play Germany. I was really expecting more than a focus tree and marketing lesson.
That's probably why Germany is played 40% of the time... It's either play Germany or don't play at all sometimes. And most people recommend playing as them because of it.

The biggest gripe customers had was the perceived lack of content of TfV.

I hope that the new expansion will feature more than half a dozen NF-trees (most of which are already done by the community in pretty decent quality). Still hoping for a major Wunderwaffen-addition in the expansion. German space bombers and Japanese microwave coastal defenses please! Oh yeah, I would appreciate Hugo Drax as a leader.

I'm pretty pleased with how this diary turned out. Personally I'm not to upset about not mentioning the AI, you have to assume its being worked on. And SteelVolt has mentioned that he is making progress on the shuffling.

Nice update on Romania, but......Wow.

Not one word on what fixes you are working on to solve the issues players have reported since 1.3.3? Not even a list of issues you recognize need work on? You have got to realize this was not going to make some people happy.

This DD apparently focus on stuff in the DLC.
AI fixes will be in the patch.
Two separate things.
Because I find it hard to believe that you want the AI fixes to be part of the DLC.

Any plans on research change? For example implementing shipyard mechanics in research?
We build research facilities, choosing technology we want to research and appointing maximum 15 research facilities to this technology... something like this.
And would be great to have theoretical and practical experiences for faster research in certain areas (like if you researching many technologies from armor and build many tanks your engineers and scientists should get better at those tasks in the future).
Because right now research tab just feels not right and unrealistic... really needs changes.

There is a lil bit more than shuffling to the AI... Ya know, "little bit" like an egg, compared to "lil bit" like earth ball or similar - ya know?

Several of the things we are working on are also very large things that take some weeks to complete, and it ties into the above. Two of these things are AI related and one is changes to air system as we said before the break we have been working on larger stuff for the Oak Update. Showing partial bits before all is in place is not very useful or easy for us.

Maybe some people missed this part? Clearly they are working on the AI and other stuff and are just not ready to talk about it yet.

As long as you aren’t part of a faction, you can negotiate freely to get new technologies and equipment from the major powers (how you get that equipment will be revealed in the next dev diary).

I hope this means we get to purchase production licenses... A sorely needed part of the game, IMO.

Otherwise, great diary, and looking forward to see what else is coming in the next few weeks.

If its AI and not only AI related... By then none stops podcat to elaborate on it.

This is a little underwhelming in my opinion. My biggest fear was that the development team would focus on focus trees and events, something that modders can easily do. To reignite people's interest in HOI4, you need to add new mechanics especially in terms of diplomacy, espionnage, economy, politics & trade, not custom focus trees which can be easily looked up in the workshop.

I hope that the next dlc will cover MUCH more than this. I'm just not interested in buying a dlc that mainly adds some custom focus trees.

Considering the next dd will focus on mechanics only, while TfV dev diaries had so few to say about mechanics they were sidenotes in focus trees dev diaries, I think this dlc might have at least half of its dd focusing solely on mechanics and fixes. I might be wrong, though.
Anyway, I don't see why Paradox should stop entirely working on stuffs the modders are also doing.
