Political map modes?

but neither of them can hold a candle against vicky2.

I agree. CKII looks a lot better than EUIV. Graphics, interface, everything looks so much better.

This is so true. Even if EUIV and especially CKII looks good, they just don't reach the level of Victoria II.

I prefer the CK2 map. EU4 looks far too soft.

I prefer the look of the CK2 map, it may be because it's smaller and more focused, but the province shapes also look more detailed and the border stripes as well, in EU4 it's very hard to get nice borders. Maybe it's the whole nesting of provinces within higher ranked titles that does it.

I would assume it's because of the higher province count for area in CK2 compared to EU4.

EU IV,has a very plastic feel

I Agree, CK2 looks better and it looks like HOI4 is going to beat both.

Indeed.

EU IV,has a very plastic feel

It's only noticeable on the non-terrain map. I blame Johan for it, since he always seems to play in terrain mode. Though, it is the most gorgeous of all the terrain modes as far as the game is concerned.

You guys are kidding, right?

After playing EU4, CK2 looks amazingly 'oldschool' despite its recent release. The muted tones, square rigid interface, clunky borders and map models/textures all feel quite outdated now.

Which isn't to say it's not a fairly attractive game... but really... cmon'.

Why is why i only play HIP and Game of Thrones.

I'm a fan of EUIV's map but nothing beats Victoria 2, The interface map and music just put it far above.

I think both look fantastic, and my compliments go to whoever designed them.
And I don't mean to insult, but I think EUIV's map looks a bit.. Cartoony?

I don't know, I just get the feeling of looking over a medieval map when I play CK2.

Couldn't you copy the textures from EU4 over to CK2 and vice versa if you had them both and preferred the look of the terrain in one over the other? I think I did that once with the March of the Eagles demo. Not all of the textures are transferable, though.

Political map is clearly nicer in CK2 but the terrain mode is much improved and playable in EU4.
It takes a session or two to get used to not play in political, but now i prefer EU4 in terrain mode. And catch myself trying the same in CK2 but it isn't as feasible and have to play in Politcal mode there.

But i agree Victoria 2 has the best map by far. The look adds a lot to the immersion. Unlike Eu4 map does little to give you a feel for the age the game is set in, besides the TI blank paper look.

CK2 has the best UI style and is more "thematic".

EU4 could go along way with some themed UIs for tech groups, everyone having the same gilded European UI isn't very immersive.

EU4 does have nicer map textures though, it's just the map modes and provinces make it look not as detailed.

Indeed. Say what you want about republics, but they have the best UI.
