Well, I was going to suggest either myself or Varyar actually (I would suggest Lurken over me, but Lurken is busy enough as it is). I'm sorry Sid, but with your attitude towards the spirit of the games in general is at odds with the philosophy of most. Your general outlook on Paradox games not as wargames but as games where people should be predictable and if you give them gifts they shouldn't hurt you seems, to me, to be in general bad for a competitive game.
I essentially was the recruiter and organizer for this game. Bin was the guy who started the first thread, but I have been working on getting a game of this nature going forever. I wish Bin were still here and could be GM, but he is not. I organized the thread, I've tried my best to keep people all over paradox forums aware of the game, and I hope this game can survive. However, I believe we need a GM who's experienced in real MP, by which I mean EU2 MP, wherein lie the true veterans of Paradox MP. I know both Lurken and I have played in numerous EU2 MP games, and I believe Varyar has as well (?). Also, Varyar was a crucial part of holding this game together back when my internet had cut out and bin left without notice, leaving the game leaderless.
I realize many people would be scared with me being a big realm and GM. Perhaps one would think I'm simply trying to control the game. All I'm doing is trying to keep this game alive and trying to avoid the mistakes I've seen made in March Through Time and other, shorter games. I've seen what can happen when there is a GM who doesn't make his decisions clearly, quickly, and reasonably, or when a GM is biased towards his country or his allies, or against his enemies. For just one example, when a GM isn't officially GM, but only the host, and simply has so many rules that one can't keep track of them. Rules are important yes, but they should be few in number and clear in description. Rules are probably most important in CK and Vicky, but EU2 and HOI2 don't require nearly as many. That being said, the game has to be flexible. Things change, new situations arise, and rules must be changed as a result, primarily by a majority. Once again, I've seen games, such as Great Game 2 and the Dukes game descend into chaos and pointless bickering and namecalling. I'm not going to let that happen to this game, because it is one of my goals to play this game all the way until 1953. I hope to see you all there as well.
Therefore, I propose myself as GM, though Varyar certainly is just as suitable. Just please don't make your decision based on recent developments but on experience.
