Same here... Macbook Pro late 2011.

It will be interesting to know if this bug is still present in OS X 10.8 as newer video drivers from Apple could have fixed it maybe (I hope!).
Please guys don't just write "Macbook Pro late 2001": at least tell us if your mac has an Intel or AMD video card and the OS X version you are running. Thanks!

I'm on the mid 2011 MBA 1.7Ghz i5, 4GB RAM and 10.8.2 and I still have these freezes!

I'm running a late 2011 MacBook Pro. 2.8 GHz i7, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB. I'm still running Lion (10.7.5... I spend most of my time on my Linux box... I want to play this game so bad, by the way, that if the Linux version is stable I will replace OSX with Linux if I have to :)) on here but judging by VonSensburg's post Mountain Lion doesn't seem to work either.

I'm having these problems also. Got the game from a Steam download. EU3 works great. Looks like the CK2 problems are not solved on machines even more advanced than mine, and mine should support it.
Disappointing. Can't risk the constant freezes.

I played in windowed mode with trees and sky effects turned off... it didn't make much of a difference. One of the most annoying things is that the nature of the freeze is such that I don't quite know how to go about getting a crash report to post on here, which is probably what would be most useful for the devs...

Any word on this? 1,700 views compared to an average of around 50 per thread leads me to believe that this is a pretty major issue... I would hate to think that so many people paid good money for a product with a game-breaking problem that the developers have no intention of addressing...

I think part of the problem is that the CK2 Steam store page is a bit vague about system requirements for OS X version, and people who bought the game to play it on Intel HD Graphics equipped MacBooks and Airs feel cheated:

Code:
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 6750 / NVIDIA GeForce 320 / NVIDIA GeForce 9600 or higher

Besides the fact that no mac model ever is equipped with a non-mobile GeForce 320 or Radeon HD 6750 (so it shoud say GeForce 320m or Radeon HD 7650m instead), many other games clearly state that they won't run on Intel chipset, for example Civilization V:

Code:
NOTICE: Intel(r) integrated video chipsets are not supported.

I think PI should change the Steam page system requirements... or even better fix the damn bug! :)

Absolutely agreed... although, sadly, the former doesn't do much to help those of us who dished out good money for this game and have no other way to play it.

I try to avoid giving charity to businesses. When I give my money to a business I like to get a working product in return. My "charity dollars" go to causes that work to solve real-life needs. It's been over a month since this thread began and not one developer or representative of Paradox has posted a response to this thread to state, "Hey guys, sorry for the inconvenience... we're hard at work trying to fix this issue. At the moment, X, Y, and Z are roadblocks but rest assured this will be fixed -- please be a little patient!" I'd respect that. Sadly, they haven't even given us that courtesy.

I feel like I've given charity to a business and the lack of response by this point is, quite frankly, getting to be a tad insulting.

Hard to disagree.
Perhaps CK2 sales on OS X are so low they're not worth devs' time to post in this thread or change the Steam page requirements?
Fixing the bug seems unlikely at this point, probably Apple's drivers make it near impossible...

At the end of the day you're probably right on all accounts. Paradox has no control over the drivers it works with and, quite frankly, I don't entirely understand why Apple is using a video card in its high end laptops without the fullest driver support possible.

I agree that we are probably a small section of their sales numbers but it seems to me that we must have a somewhat significant problem on our hands considering that this thread is in the top five in the tech forum for number of replies and views among non-sticky posts. The money we dished out for the game (and expansions, in my case -- I spent a good $50 US on this) was every bit as good as that spent by people who bought the game for other platforms. We didn't buy this game as a gamble, at our own risk and, if it didn't work, "oh well"... we spent out hard earned money on a product that we were under the impression would function as advertised. Now, I will not argue against the fact that the time of the devs is both limited and important. But you know what? The money of each of us who laid down our hard earned cash for this product was limited and important too. If our money doesn't entitle us to a working product I would like to think that it at least entitles us to an apology, an explanation, and perhaps a diagnosis as to whether this problem might be able to be fixed in the future.

I'd like to think that we at least paid for something, and I would be satisfied with that much if they can't fix the problem.

Hey guys, I don't have a Mac so I can't comment on the issue, but maybe it would help if you guys filed a request on the Paradox Zendesk. That is where I was able to get help for my Problems regarding some games (look in my signature). Here is the link https://paradox.zendesk.com then click on Submit a request. Hope I helped some. Regards, Chazzen.

I'm done. Game now freezes when I am going over the pregame map trying to decide who I want to play as.

Quite frankly, I feel a bit cheated with the lack on concern from the developers. I won't be spending my money on any games this company produces unless they fix this problem. Very disappointing. The game has such great potential. Why did they even release a mac version if they don't know what they are doing?

There is a feature request there since september 2012...
