when i turn on the mod it crashes the game upon startup, ive tried turning off the antivirus system but its had no effect, what do i do?
I'm sorry for that.
The question is, which version of the mod do you use (Steam or Paradox mods), do you use any other mods?
Frankly at this point I have no idea :(

Oh god, I love this map. Your map work is great as always! This will help me a lot if I ever get enough time to go back to CK map modding.
I hope you will eventually get back and get your map finnished one day.
Have you thought about joining your efforts with @Trinculo ?
Both yours and his projects are very similar in scope (I have always admired the ambition, but always regarded it way too ambitious and impossible for one person to ever get it ever finnished)... maybe if you guys cooperate and split the map, CK3 could get a map mod which goes into far deeper detail than I or anyone else could ever think (and in my case even want).

Sorry i shouldve elaborated, im using the paradox version. Im not quite used to mods but it seems simple to download and install.

Thanks for the additional info.

To be honest I'm not really a good troubleshoter myself and I usually need others' help to solve issues like this, so I can't promise I will be able to solve this at all. But maybe try to deactivate the mod, and activate it only after restarting your computer.
And the question is - do you just activate it through Pdx mods and launcher and then run the game? And then it crashes? Or did you download it manually and run it from your computer?
I'd tend to ask you to send me a screenshots of your launcher when the mod is activated, in particular what is shown when you open the active playset.

OTOH, investigating this brought me to find out that if I myself run the Paradox mods version from my launcher, the game doesn't read the mod at all, so I can't rule out there is something wrong, but - as I said at the beggining - since I'm terrible troubleshooter, I have no idea what it means and how I could help at this point.

As for now, all I can advise is to try deactivating the mod and activating it again and if it won't work, either seek for help in the technical subforum section, or, sadly, don't use the mod, since I most probably won't be able to help :(

What's the difference between a core and otherwise settled area?
That actually is a weird way to describe conflicting data of two source maps which are overlaped here.
One of them depicts settled areas in mid 11th century
The other depicts settled areas in the 12th century. It ought to be said that this one is quite schematic and not very detailed.

In the final map, here are some areas which are marked as inhabitted in the 11th, but in the 12th they overlap with areas marked as "Forests with dispersed settlements" or "Deep forests". To solve this oddity, I described it as I did.
Generally it shouldn't matter that much - I used the settled areas as one of hints to help me define the possible borders of castellany provinces.

I don't know if there's anything you can do about this but there's a graphic/display bug when traveling from some counties to another. Here's one example:

By display I mean the units follow that path but I don't think in actuality they do as one would assume the trip would take longer, and also they won't attack any hostile troops that are in the displayed path.

thanks for reporting this. Seems like I made a typo in one of the coordinates of units locations in the province/barony of Daniski.
I'll fix that

Also when sieging Zamtam one's forces appear to be in Biram.

Good to know, I fear I havent play-tested siege locations, so for the next update (will come within a week) I will better auto-replace them all in this particular region.
Thanks for reporting!

The mod has been updated.

The main change is that there are now 3 new terrains in total:
Savanna (previously added)
Boreal Highlands (added in previous version)
Arid Hills (NEW)

Apart from that I made several minor fixes of locations in central section of the Sahel.

thanks for reporting it.
And my apologies for the inconvenience.

I checked it together with surrounding provinces and found some more mislocations and fixed them all.... and uploaded the fix already.
I hope it should now be all okay.

It's not really an inconvenience, but if I had known it was something you could have fixed I would have mentioned it a long time ago. :)

Ibn Battuta has arrived to Al-Andalus, at last...

... which means that the long debated Iberia update is finally out.
My very special thanks for this all go to @Cèsar de Quart who made absolutely amazing comprehensive suggestion, without which this would never been done. I took some liberties and edited his ideas and suggestions, so if there's something wrong, it was my doing. All the good stuff comes from him... as well as @Torngasuk, who helped me filling histories of the new provinces

Iberia.jpg

it contains:
- 57 new baronies (+ 4 new impassable mountain ranges)
- 25 new counties
- 3 new de jure duchies (Zaragoza, Ávila and Urgell)
- 3 new major rivers (Ebro and Duero in Iberia and Sokoto in central Sahel)
- 2 new dynasties and several new characters, while another number of already existing characters now gains land and became playable.
Iberia1066.jpg

Iberia867.jpg

a minor overhaul of central Sahara:
- Touat duchy is now adjoined to the kingdom of Sahara (although it historically leaned to Anbiya, it looks way better if it's part of Sahara)
- Ghadames is moved from Jerid duchy to Ghat
- minor adjustment of wastelands on the border of Jerid, Tripolitania and Fezzan to avoid weird looking map, caused solely by one wasteland province (as described here).

after the small edits of Egypt and big changes in al-Andalus, I am finally bringing Ibn Battuta to the core of his legacy.
Here are some preliminary shots of how is the Levant going to look like...

but much bigger changes are happening in Maghreb - here is a first shot of how will the High Atlas area look after the next update - some 4 new duchies in k_maghreb, some 8 new counties, and countless new provinces/baronies...
