Well, you could take a duchy in a player kingdom (I myself would actually enjoy the interaction with a vassal), in fact the Duchy of Podlasia is quite powerful. However, you might want to take a German duchy if you REALLY want a duchy. I would suggest a kingdom though, like Germany.
 
btw i would have joined this game a while ago if i knew it was such a decent time. I kinda asumed cos it was on american times it would be like 4am or something. :)

Check out KoM AAR thread, the Great Game, those pics sums up the status pretty good.
 
I think it may be a little late in the game to take a duchy, with the kingdoms growing so powerful. If your heart's set on it, though, perhaps Milan? It is reasonably well away from the most aggressive powers, and has good opportunities for expansion into the wealthy south of France. Or perhaps a Russian duchy; I'd hate to see the Rurikoviches go down into obscurity after such a good start.
 
I might be late on sunday, away on a wedding on saturday, dunno when I will get back. So you just know.
 
I'd love to see someone take Germany or France or Rus.

Actually, Rus might be interesting with the time frame we're about to enter.

Will the other players let the Hordes smash Russia, or will we come help you?

Will Bavaria remain a vassal of Naples, or is it merely <insert Admiral Akbar> a trap!

Will Poland continue to be seen as the biggest threat to the world while Castille sends mercenary forces rampaging all over Europe?

Will Jerusalem christianize the entire Levant?

You may want to consider the Kingdom of Jerusalem or Rus then. Actually the Kingdom of Jerusalem would be a very good place for a newer player to start in our game, as it is well established and has very few peotentials for destructive contests that would hurt you before you could learn the game.
 
Hello folks,

I've updated my ICQ with the numbers some of you gave. I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday. Oh and for some clarification, when I say "good player" I mean:
  • Someone who shows up and plays, doesn't take things personal, can roleplay a little, and wants to have fun.

I've updated the thread starter with a current game map. I will try to do that after every game now, so people can see how things are going at a glance. I've read Dom's AAR, very well done.

I do hope the rest of you would post something. It doesn't have to be long, just a snipet or update as to how your Kingdom is doing. There are readers out there, that are dying to know why Poland does what they do and where Flanders is going, What Byzantium is up to, some more intel on Bavaria, who the leader of Castille is and so on. It's fun folks and adds flavor to the game. KoM has done a good job and I've done my best. It's time ya'll joined in. Well enough ranting, see ya'll on Sunday.

Yes, please Blackeye... I didn't even know there was a Byzantine player..
:D kidding...

EDIT: Oh yes, and we must know what the Spiders are planning so we may better protect those peoples with morals... :eek:
 
I took a look at map and is hell ugly

I think out of the options id like france most. Germany too messy and hungary ugly too.

Why I never! I'm insulted. Bavaria is SWEET AND LOVABLE. Oh, and PEACE LOVING.

Weekly Game Update


We played at Below Normal for most of the game with 9 players. We played from November 10 1197 to July 19 1211.

The players this session:
  • KoM - King of Norway
  • Traveler - King of Naples
  • Prime - Duke of Flanders
  • Dominus - King of England
  • Sterk - King of Poland
  • Lurken - King of Castille
  • Duuk - Duke of Bavaria

We welcomed two new players:
  • Aladar - King of Jerusalem
  • cheech - King of France

We had 9 game stops. I’ll list the causes for each stop:
  • Stopped to p/u Sterk
  • Stopped to p/u Lurken
  • cheech CTD, not sure why
  • Duuk CTD, was making peace with former vassal
  • Everyone CTD, not sure why
  • Duuk CTD, not sure why
  • Lurken CTD, not sure why
  • KoM CTD, not sure why
  • Everyone CTD, not sure why, called it a day.

Other than the stops, again we covered a lot of years. I look forward to reading the AAR’s and spicy Diplomacy so get to work.

Open realms:
  • Kingdom of Hungary
  • Kingdom of Rus (if we force Poland to release her)
