RP, I didn't mean to imply that you were doing anything wrong in either of the TOW games. You were playing well, and I enjoyed it even when I lost. (Well, not as much as I would have if I'd won. But still.) What I'm saying is, I didn't get bitter about it.
And as for diplomacy - I do feel it is incumbent on the statesman to ensure that the target of his approaches isn't lying. It's an MP game, broken deals happen all the time. You have to take it into account. I mean, you already know from TOW II that I'm an untrustworthy bastard, right?

I've done this to you before, even. You really should stop taking me at my word when I say I'll go against my own best interest for your sake.
And fairness? I don't see what that has to do with it. You attacked my ally - and while I know you disagree, I feel that England has helped me more than you have. Maybe Dom has a better PR department, I don't know; I'm just telling you how I feel about it. In any case, you attacked my ally, and I judged I would rather have England's friendship than an exhausted England, France, and Flanders, because I would not be able to take advantage of the latter outcome. So - I smashed you. Get your revenge in the next generation, when my king will be much suckier.
Really, I think all this comes down to me lying about my intentions. Well, I know you are bitter about it, but it's a part of the game.
