Hey ya'll,

Tried to hook up with King Josiah but we are having trouble. Perhaps one of you could help him figure out how we can help him join our MP games. King Josiah is interested in joining as the King of Bohemia. Game tomorrow, hope to see ya'll there.

Ah, that would be most welcome! Unfortunately, every time I fire up ICQ, my modem goes unstable. It is a weirdness. So I'm afraid I can't help. But I'd be glad to see a new Power in Central Europe.

I'll be on ICQ until gamestart. 122-996-214.

Its is more fitting that Burgundy should welcome her new friend and ally against the growing darkness pouring down from the north anyway. :D

Weekly Game Update

We played at Below Normal for most of the game with 6 players. We played from November 6 1324 to June 27 1335. Newest game MAP is up. I’ve purged and zipped the most recent game save which can be downloaded from here.

The players this session:
  • Traveler - King of Italy
  • Prime - King of Burgundy
  • Ear - King of Hungary had to leave early
  • Sterk - King of Poland had modem trouble
  • KoM - King of Norway
  • cheech - King of France
  • Dominus - King of England
  • Blackeye - Emperor of Byzantium

We had 4 game stops. I’ll list the causes for each stop:
  • Stopped to p/u Sterk
  • Sterk CTD, was out of sync, modem trouble
  • Sterk CTD, modem trouble
  • Sterk CTD, we played on for some years then called it a day

Pretty good game all and all. I do hope Sterk can fix his modem. A lot of cause for war floating around. A couple good sessions would definitely give an opportunity for some to wage some serious fighting. Look forward to seeing ya’ll next week. Lets all try and round up some more players for those open realms. We’re getting close to EU2, now’s the time to jump in.

New Session Time
  • Saturday Morning (0600PST/0900EST/1400GMT/1500CET)

Open realms:
  • Kingdom of Jerusalem
  • Kingdom of Bohemia
  • Rus

Uh... you played on 4 years after I was gone and 6 years after RP left? That's uh, quite a bit over the time. RP left at the end time and I thought we agreed we'd keep speeding up until we crashed, right?

Oh, and while I'd very much like to add the Kingdom of Castille to my many already-acquired titles, I don't have it just yet. ;)

Well there is no harm done, I checked the save and my 19 steward son inherited. I wouldn't have been so happy if his leperd brother had sat on the throne.

Trav, you've got no less than three Kings of Norway there. I've had two civil wars already, I don't need another.

Sterk, we did speed up until we crashed! It's just that, um, the game seems a little more stable without you. Trust me, I was vastly relieved when the crash finally came! Dealing with that number of popups was an absolute nightmare.

King Josiah, sorry you could not play yesterday, but please do not give up. We would very much like to have you join us. If I can make a suggestion, you might try logging onto Vnet with one of the other Pdox games (if you don't have one, get thee to the store!) and see if you can fix your router problems with someone there.

I don't know if you have firewall troubles or not, but one thing you might want to be aware of is that the Windows popup for 'shall I give this program permission to download data' doesn't automatically go to the top. So the first thing to try is to minimise CK (after you've tried logging on somewhere) and seeing if you've got such a dilaog, and clicking 'yes'.

Yeah, once I reformat and/or get a new comp and/or modem, things should be better...

By the way, the .eug fixed my error, but another one has popped up.

Uh, KOM, according to your response in the converter thread, you continued on while my country was GHOSTED and UNDER ATTACK. Exactly why would you all do such a thing? If it was AI, ok, then maybe. But while it was ghosted and could do nothing? I already had my country's infrastructure destroyed by war, but that was my fault for not having my modem fixed and not being there for the sessions. However, this is continuing on far past end time and essentially allowing Hungary to run rampant over my lands.

ai-hungary dowed poland again?

To tell you the absolute truth, Sterk, I didn't actually notice that you were under attack. I can't speak for the others, but I at least was so busy dealing with popups that I had absolutely no chance to look at other parts of the world.

Frig, I haven't paid attention to Poland since about the whole Russian war thing...

Uh...what did you do in sunny warm Castille/Iberia, Sterkarm? Was it fun?

Absolutely nothing actually. Merely mislabeling by Trav.

We are playing today, right?

So what happened? I was, unfortunately, unable to play today for numerous reasons.

I had my war with RP; Burgundy is now a little smaller. But still incredibly powerful. It took three nations to beat them down. Poland refused to peace with Hungary, although Hungary offered to give back the provinces you claimed. I dunno, I don't think that AI is very bright. It also spammed me with alliance offers. Byz is well on the way to recovery. I skirmished a bit with Italy in my southern marches, as he tried to support Burgundy, but nothing really decisive. RP still has not handed back Normandy.

So basically, had I been at that session, Norway would be in ruin right now. Well damnit.

Sorry RP... :(

That is entirely possible, yes. :D Though maybe I wouldn't have been quite so aggressive in attacking RP's armies in Mecklenburg, and then my hosts wouldn't have melted away like snow in the face of that horrible attrition. This war showed that in CK, concentration of force only works to a certain extent. If we assume RP following the tactics he did, but me diverting my Finnish and Russian armies to Poland, then with the French-Spanish intervention I might might well have won anyway. Or the war could have dragged on until Byz came in, or Hungary. At any rate, a neutral Poland probably did more good than harm.

On the other hand, armies recover fast in CK. Who knows? Maybe RP will be ready for a rematch next week. :) And he still hasn't handed over Normandy, in spite of Dom remaining neutral in this war to help him. By the way, Dom, Orkney is not strictly speaking 'mainland England'. But eh, it's also pretty worthless, Norwegian culture or none.

Ya, I had to make a decision on that... And the decision I came to was that it considering the islands don't even exist in EU2 and that the counties probably do have some relavence to northern Scotland as of the crossover, the complications that would arise then would more than justify any complications now...
