Trouble is, there aren't exactly enough mercs to go around.

Well with Essos being in the next release, we might get way more mercs, like the big groups such as the second sons. Plus holy orders such as the unsullied and similar might be available for each faith, the seven might even get multiple on account that it does have the largest amount of kingdoms that use it.

Still, it's probably one good measure to simply increase the amount of mercs available per region, or even making a few kingdom-specific. If necessary, AGoT could simply use retinues if it really is that bad.

Retinues? That would presumably on the LI model, where they're expensive and have a maintenance cost as well as a reinforcement cost.

Which explains my point (far more succinctly than I can) that CK2 "feudal" mechanics don't really suit the Northern Lords.
To bear in mind with how Winterfell views its vassals however- the Stark Lords give the chiefs of the Mountain Clans the style and treatment of Lord, just as much as the Karstarks, Boltons, Umbars, Manderlys et al. Therefore, it may be clever diplomacy on Winterfell's part, rather than the actual "de jure" status, and clearly isn't the de facto set up- I believe that even combined, the Clans aren't able to raise more men then Manderly? Although I could be wrong with that last point.

I think that in Westeros all titles are Lords, for example, Manderly is Lord Manderly but he makes mention in ADWD that he has minor Lords under him. Dukes, Earls and Barons are all just called Lords with the same title, their power is just derived from how many under lords they have. I'd say that the Karstarks and Boltons etc were Duke tier with other Earl grade lords below them but Bear Island was a Count tier lord who had no Duke Tier between him and Winterfell as Bear Island would only have Baron level Lords paying him fealty wheras Karstarks and Boltons could easily have several counties.

Nah the mod aint dead just slow progress right now
I just try to not think about the word "slow" too much and be happy about the "progress" part. I am not that good at it, but well.

So I'm not quite sure where to ask this question but I figured I'd try here first, having played with this awesome mod (really awesome mod guys!) for a while I came across the [Mod Generator] Kingdoms (and Empires) Abound Titular Title Generator and felt that it might give my a fun experience in the got-settings. Works great and all apart from one small thing. As I understand it the way you make a title in agot requires you to have your capital in said title, is there a way to modify this so you can form a title when you have enough provinces even if your capital is outside said title? While I do generally like the fact that you don't get a whole heaps of duchies that your vassals are constantly pestering you for it did sort of limit my attempted organic play stile when the AI is limited to creating 1 duchy. (unless he then moves his capital and can create another one but they don't seem very keen on doing that and besides u can only move your capital every so often) Would simply removing #capital = and the allow capital_scope for the titles in the landed_titles file fix it or would that just really mess everything up? Sorry if this is a really stupid question, modding really isn't my cup of tea. Nor is it my cup of blueberry soup which is what I'm currently using as fuel.

Should work... try it but make a back up incase it doesn't. Let me know if it does work because then I might do that as well when the much anticipated update arrives (I can't be bothered rolling back to 1.111 despite how easy it is so will wait)

Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but why does Gregor Clegane have a daughter in some start dates?

I think that's canon? He's been married at least three times.
Yeah, but I don't think it's been mentioned that he has children. I don't think any of his wives lived long enough. But it doesn't really bother me that he does in the mod. I'm just curious

I agree that this really needs to be changed. As LP of the North, I should completely have the option to appoint a High Lord of the Mountain Clans or Skagos, or in some start dates reform the High Lordship of Hornwood.
