So, I posted this in the forum, but I think it went unnoticed. Anyway, here it is.

Hi there, my first post here, but long time player and admirer. After playing your mod Vanilla seems so restricted and shallow - no personal interactions, no swords, no whitecloaks etc etc. The Kingsguard is certainly one of my favourite parts of the mod, so I would like to make some suggestions concerning them for the next releases.

It's awesome how you can choose the commander of the Goldcloaks, but it's a shame that you can do the same for the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Is there a way to fix this, perhaps through honorary title (although it would be tricky to get the desired sworn brother to your official court)? Also, would it be possible to create different kinds of kingsguards (Falconguard for the Vale, Greenhands for the Reach etc.) for all kingdoms? I do remeber reading somewhere that the Kingsguard should be exclusive to the King on the Iron Throne, but it would be neat anyway to have my own Kingsguard as a sovereign monarch.

Another thing that I would like to see implemented is really an expansion of the personal interaction button, which is also one of the highligts of the mod. Namely, I would like to see an option to challenge a rival of yours to a duel, or maybe even the regent of your liege lord, mirroring the event chains when you are a regent yourself. Intentional should be rare and restricted for people sharing a court/territory with you and you would have to be at peace to challenge someone, elsewise wars would be too easy to be exploited both by the player and the AI.

Two last final suggestions, both regarding the Small Council and both I deem to be impossible, otherwise they would have already been implemented. Either way, would it be possible to give special powers to the Hand of the King? As it stands now, it is only a flavour title awarded to the man with highest stewardship of the Iron Throne's bannermen (usually Loren Lannister or Harlan Tyrell in the Wars of Conquest scenario, when in canon Aegon's Hand was Orys Baratheon). I would like to see the King actually choosing someone who makes sense politically, or at least change the requirement from stewardship to martial ability, as the office of Hand was much more militarily in nature in the early days of the Seven Kingdoms (see again the example of Orys Baratheon, Maegor the Cruel and much later Baelor Breakspear). The second suggestion is for the King to be able to appoint indirect vassals to the Small Council instead of only the LPs and the Crownlander lords. Examples there are plenty of: Jon Connington, the Merrywheathers, Harys Swyft, Tyrion Lannister, Otto Hightower, Paxter Redwyne, Aurane Waters and so on. I'm pretty sure you have already thought about this, but it doesn't hurt to bring it up.

Also, it would be neat to have a spot for the Master of Ships in the Council. Perhaps he could replace the Master-at-Arms but still have the same function?

Anyway, thank you very much for the mod! Other than those points, there are also the traditional complaints about the diseases and stillbirths, but I bet you're already sick of hearing them. :)

---

Suggestions and criticism would be welcome.

Don't forget Littlefinger seems as he seems to be one of the most influential person on the council besides Varys.

Replace? Why would you replace the Master-At-Arms with the master of the ships? Almost every lord would have a master at arms but it seems that a paltry few would have a master of ships, especially in comparison, within Westeros. The Iron Isles, The Iron Throne, a few Reach lords, later on Manderly, Dragonstone and, well that's about it really. None of the other 'Kingdoms' have displayed a power at sea in the books and as for the Reach only the Redwyne's seem to have ships of any note. I admit, a Master of Ships would be neat but very few lords would have one so having a council seat deliberately set aside for them doesn't seem to make sense, especially if one was playing a landlocked lord.

Fair point. Perhaps make it read "Master of Ships" under the description just as the castellan of the Iron Throne reads Hand of the King?

Yes (I think).

Why do people keep on asking if the mod is dead? You can clearly see from the front page that it is alive and well.

It's just like the Elder Kings thread, where you had people asking if the mod was dead, or about compatibility four times (each with answers) on a page.

On a totally unrelated note to recent "fears" of this mod being dead (despite the mod creators explicitly stating the opposite): there might be new canonical facts about the "Dance of Dragons", as I just got a delivery notice from our favorite online books retailer that "Dangerous Women", featuring a massive story by GRRM, is due to be arriving Friday.

I keep thinking how awesome a series of pilgrimage event chains would be, but I always struggle to think of suitable places, for any of the religions...

Yeah it would be good... how about
God's Eye for the Old Gods worshipers (there was a story about the Crannogman who went there and met the children of the forest or something like that)
Perhaps to Baelor's Sept and the Starry Sept (the one in Oldtown??) for The Seven.

For the Seven:
- Great Sept of Baelor
- Starry Sept
- Andalos, in Essos-- wouldn't it be amazing to kneel in prayer on the same hill where the Father placed his starry crown on Hugor's brow?

I'm not sure the Old Gods are pilgrimage material, really. They're more tied to the land and the people than they are to grand edifices and specific spots, but if you wanted I bet the Gods' Eye would work, along with perhaps the Wall? Or perhaps have a thing where you go on a circuit of the great Godswoods of the land. R'hllor might have pilgrimages, to places of great power-- the Wall, the red temple in Volantis, I'd say Asshai except we don't know much about it. Valyrian Gods worshippers would go to the chapel at Dragonstone, Volantis, and the shores of the Smoking Sea.

Perhaps the Old Gods worshippers could also go to Barrowton (supposedly where the First King, or maybe a giant, is/are buried), as well as the Wall, Gods' Eye, possibly Winterfell (Bran the Builder, Starks, et al), although the circuit of great Godwoods that brucepm suggests also sound good.
