I thought all map modders had a collection of historical atlases by now? ;) I've been collecting since I was modding civ 2 back in the day (I love historical maps in general though).

I am curious though if you could tell me of a good historical atlas for central asia (ie the area on the screenshot above) I've been modding it for eu3 and came up with this but even if the provinces were perfect (which I doubt) too many of them are named for their capital city as of now... The local university library is very well stocked (it's supposedly the biggest one in scandinavia) so if I just knew what to look for...



I know I know, there shouldn't be snow in the dessert. I haven't modded the climate file yet ;)

But you could do a keyword search and search for more at your library;). I didn't find these all that useful...

I've been working on some borders. I started the process of de-squaring. So here is the Tarim Basin after some random de-squaring and re-shaping to fit the plain region of the Tarim Basin (so it looks like much more real):

I don't have news on the "max provinces" problem yet, so I didn't add or split provinces yet...:(

If anyone is interested, I've halved the width of MT's province borders. IMHO, it looks a little neater this way.

To install, just extract the .zip file to your mod\Magna Terra\map\terrain folder.

It doesn't fix the weird red border bug, though. The only method I can think of to fix that is use the same principle as Descartes' suggestion for Imperium - ie, recolour the red borders to be black as well. That'll at least hide the border bug.

Thanks, it looks good, as provinces are smaller than vanilla.

That's actually a very good idea (although I like "national" borders). That way I can continue to expand the map (Indochina + Japan + some provinces north of Rhoxolani + ?Tibet + ?Inner Arabia) and split provinces in China and India (and Nubia/Ethiopia and Arabia?) (as I plan to do). What do you think?

I've been playing with the 2.31 patch to test the game. I started with Qin in 531 AVC and now the game is 667 AVC. It crashed only twice in all this time, so it may be due to the beta patch and not to the mod (I think...). After working with the positions the weird paths in the north, wrong-borders provinces disappeared, so the wrong border remains the only problem with the provinces (as well as seazones having no borders at all...).

I've been playing a very peaceful game, like I like to do, so I did not challenge Maurya yet. I have a 600K+ manpower and 40k+ money, with all building available built in all the provinces.

Carthage and Rome will soon have a huge fight in the Pyrenees, Seleucids are pretty stable to my surprise, Maurya is not very expansionist and Egypt took the obvious way of expansion. Recently I allied with the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom to prevent further Maurya expansion, as well as have a clean casus belli (although with my money I can afford to stab all the pigs I want). I had 2 civil wars, both easily won. Korea declared independence 2 times, just to be annexed.

EDIT: I also noticed something. Gaul and barbarian Heta-something (east of Aorsi Magni) are occupied by Rome and Aorsi Magni respectively for years. Is this a bug? Also I tried to vassalize Xiongnu but the smaller tribute I could demand was 1 ducat, that gave 144 war score, so they would never accept. However, I tried to vassalise the Chorasmia League (BTW in 2.31 it seems revolting regions get the <region> League name) and I could ask smaller tributes. I think this is a bug, maybe the one Rome and Aorsi Magni are getting.

You could add some new buildings (libraries, lighthouses, citadels etc), so you have something to do with all the money. Also, maybe you should add a triggered modifier called "overextension" (similar to EU III) to make things a little bit more complicated for blobs. It's good to hear the mod is so stable, btw. :)
 
I still demand that Sweden should be added!(And Denmark removed :D)

i added that, taken from from suteh to be honest:p. For now I chose 50 cities as the limit for minor overextension, 70 for major overextenion...
 
Wouldn't you just stay below 50 or 70 then, to avoid the penalties? Another idea is to add a very small increase to character corruption to the province base values (in static_modifiers.txt). It would be barely noticable for small countries, but large countries would have substantial amount of corruption.
 
One idea I've been throwing around is linking overextention to your ruler's Finesse stat. If you own 20 provinces you need a ruler with at least 2 Finesse to avoid minor overextention (which increases corruption, RR and/or regiment recruitment time), or something like that. The more provinces you have, the more Finesse your ruler needs to avoid overextention. That way, the player can't simply stay under the magic threshold.
 
If you want to see how terrain actually looks like, don't use EU3 vanilla map info, use Magna Mundi. If you get their permission, that is.
