Events pertaining to later wars dont work at all - the flags are set but nothing wants to happen..........for now your best bet is to remove the Russian "we are too weak to support them", the Austrian "do nothing" and the German "do nothing" to ensure that war happens historically.

Due to the size of the thread, I honestly can't be bothered searching through... I get a CTD at 0000 August 5th... There appears to be an event that pops up just as it crashes, you can hear the even sound, then it CTD's...

Any suggestions?

Forgot to mention, I'm playing as Germany, and have a save just days before the CTD...

I refer you to post #202 of this thread. :)

I've found a bug :)

When I see election events for other countries, the event result is shown as "unknown string wanted" (or something similar). This definitely happened with the Brazilian and Swiss elections, maybe more that I didn't notice.

Is something missing from the text.csv file?

It isn't the text file, but certain minister files - for some reason, some elections now indicate an option 'ELECT_R', when no such command exists. It should be 'ELECT_B' which translates as 'Elect Right' in the text file.

Everything jsut gets weird

Greeting TGW team. I'm in the middle of my first game with this MOD, a hands-off game as Costa Rica. First off, A-H puppeted Serbia after the assassination in 1914, so war didn't happen till :drumroll:: August of 1918! So that was a nice time to read a book, etc, while i wondered if the war WOULD ever start. It started, of course, because France's war entry got to 100, causing an immediate DOW (And an immediate dissent hit, of course.)

So I'm all excited, I'm watching this war on CNN or something. The Germans go to the trouble of declaring war on Belgium even though they've already taken Dijon, circumventing the French forts. Eastern front is shaping up to be a slugfest. Then it happens. October rolls around and the Russian Revolution begins. Suddenly there are 800 new countries.

Now comes teh part I can't understand. Russia leaves the Entente to fight her civil war. But all the gains Germany has made in France and Africa disappear. All the starting borders go back and troops are stuck behind enemy lines, with enemy soldiers marching right by them, no battles occuring.

Also, French elections happen a lot. So do Swiss elections. And after 1916, all the elctions have results of "Uknown String" somethign or other, instead of "Elect Left" or "Elect RIght".

The Mod is good, gentlemen. I hope you keep at it to make it great!

Well, the "unknown string wanted problem is known (look at the post previous to yours). I think the french elections things is working as intended, the french government was quite unstable. (and I still haven't gotten around to actually code the portuguese cabinet changes, those should take up half the game log when they're done ;))

About the russian problem, you should check the diplomacy screen. You'll probably find the war is over... :( There's some bug with the russians leaving the war, they make alliance peace instead of a separate one.

As for the late war start, there's a group of events supposed to make the war start in 1915 if the July crisis doesn't cause it...

Theoretically, that should be the case. Strangely, they don't seem to work, yet I can't find any reason for them not working - every outcome in the JulyCrisis sets a flag 'balkansX' which forms a necessary part of the trigger for any of the 1915 war events. I've decided to remove the flags and replace them with events to form as a 'marker' - we'll see if they work.

Greetings,

Thanks for the mod, guys :) It looks awesome. The problem is, however, that I can never get past day 2. The calendar goes from January 1, 1914 to January 1, 1935, and then the whole game CTDs. The install was clean, and I've tested several countries. Has anyone had that happen to them?

Thanks!

Looks like you dont have the 'no time limit' mod working - set the target as the HOI.exe in the TGW folder and then your games shouldnt leap forward to 1935.

Bug?

Hi,

sorry, this thread now has 10 pages and I quickly browsed it and saw my problem mentioned, but no solution to it. So here goes:

I tried my first game as Germany, using around 70 divisions in the West and some 45 in the East. The game was pretty stable except for the occasional STRING WANTED message during elections. I have seen bugs WAY worse (not in this mod I mean), so no big worry here.

By Mid-September 1914 first Gardearmee and my three other Armies had encircled and taken Paris. TOO EASY! Then it happened, the events fired which effectively ended all my wars, even in the east (where I had taken some 4 or 5 Russian provinces in Poland). So here I am, stuck with my troops in a post war France and post war Russia, seeing my glorious armies slowly losing org and manpower. France wouldn´t give me access. A couple of days later France declared war again (probably joined Britain again), thus my army was now moveable again, but cut off in France, since I had no units in the border provinces. France than easily took Köln

Now I have read here that this problem has been solved, but HOW and WHERE? How do I solve this?

Otherwise, really a great job so far, I love the mod. I have even started a MP game with a friend of mine today, him playing Germany, me playing France. So far, we are having great fun and just one crash after 2.5 hours of playing.

Aug 5th 1914 CTD?

Happens over and over again, while at war with France (I'm Germany).

I had the Frenchies on the run, too!

Mine is crashing on August 5 too now :) It's related to the events where Serbia is asking Russia for Dow methinks. There are twelve or so of them.

Thanks for the hint about the no time limit mod, Allenby :)

Ctd

Playing as Germany, my game crashes on 5 August 1914 every time before I can get to 6 August. The Central Powers (including Italy) are at war with France and Russia.

In my current game, I noticed that the "Japan allies with Britain" event happened - and when I checked a few months later, Japan was still at peace. This might be related.

One thought - could it be to do with war entry? If the country is a democracy and war entry is below 100, events putting them at war simply don't work? Might be worth experimenting with...

Copy the text here and paste it in the light_aircraft_tech.txt file, overwriting anything written down there.

Best you just put a '#' infront of the lines referring to defeat.txt, peacetreaty.txt and revolution.txt in the events file. :)

Are you saying that Japan joins the Entente without waging war on the Central Powers? I'm not entirely sure it has something to do with war entry, as Britain doesn't seem to have a problem with joining the Entente and going to war with Germany when Belgium's neutrality is violated.

Another Bug

I now started a new game as the US, the game ran very stable for about 1.5 years of playing time. Germany chose a Russia first strategy and is close to St. Petersburg, whilst it is stuck in Belgium. I experienced a CTD which has to do with Latvian independence I guess.
I can (unfortunately) reproduce this CTD every single time I load my autosave, it already crashes on the loading screen now when "Initializing Scripts". Anybody care for the save game? The history.txt reads as follows:

1915-03-00 : 0:00 April 1, 1915 : Germany went with Grant limited independence. in Create a puppet Latvia?.

1915-03-00 : 0:00 April 1, 1915 : Russia had Latvian independence .

1915-03-00 : 0:00 April 1, 1915 : Germany had Tributary Latvia .
