@ Allenby, well we could take one of the first land doctrine tech's that everyone gets and have it have a -20% GDE.

@ptan, I have been wondering why don't we replace Germany's tag with Uxx tag to prevent these hardcoded situations with Germany? (Obviously beyond the load of work it would take to change stuff to the new ID.)

Perhaps an AI only event could immediately force peace between Germany and Holland/Denmark/Norway as soon as the former declares war on the latter?

I wouldn't want to make it a generalised event - I think the megalomaniac German player (Stephen ;)) would be a tad appalled to find that their declaration of war had been suddenly annulled...

Well is it hardcoded for the TAG GER, or is it hardcoded somewhere else?

If it is just the TAG we could use a Uxx TAG to replace Germany and name it something like Imperial Germany.

As far as I can tell,

GER = Hardcoded to DOW everyone
SOV = Hardcoded to go to war with GER
ENG and FRA = Hardcoded to go to war with GER when WE is 100%.

I do agree that discarding GER and using something like UXX would be optimal - but it is a gargantuan amount of work.

Yes but a comparable amount of work needs to be done to keep doing round about solutions to these hardcoded problems.

So much a pain, that I won't sanction it.

But it's hardcoded - forcing peace now only means they'll declare war later again........!!!

Presumably, you've tested this out then?

changing GER to something else benign like CAN would solve all our problems.

I see it neither as practical or desirable. The time taken can be devoted to something else, and I'm sceptical as to whether it can be done thoroughly anyway.

Vau Russia is too powerfull man!
By 1915 Viena and Berlin have fallen,France is sending me those
anti revovoultinary troops to fast(by july 1915 I had 20 french divisions).

And game still craches no matter what I do in 1915 September and October.
But the version is playabel now,and MP looks its gona be better than in Hoi or CORE.

And how come that provinces of Split and Mostar have more manpower than
all of Serbia without Belgrade?Oh yeah you didnt do the minors yet.....
Just reminding you :D

Actually Manpower for all the powers are done. The reason Split and Mostar have more manpower is that because the area that should be Trieste is part of the provence of Venezia, thus not allowing it to be Austrian, I moved the population that should be there to nearby provinces to simulate that area.

If you have suggestions for a better distribution of Manpower in Serbia I am willing to listen, but as it is they are not going to get any more manpower though. (Barring of course good data supported by resources.)

1.04b/1.6 correct and clean install

playing as germany in h/n i saw that russian troops have no rivercrossing penalty...its shows up in battlescreen, but says 0 %. this makes defending prussia a lot harder  .
dunno if its the same with france or italy, since ill try to survive against the Tsar and didnt make any offensiv move in the west  .

hadnt this in Vanilla or hoi, so i think its an tgw issue.

if u need save, pm me.

Trying to remove the hardcoded features introduced for a different war than what we're trying to mod seems very desirable to me. Changing the tag might be time-consuming, but it would save us the bother of trying to sidestep the issues of continuous declarations of war after the war is supposedly over...

I agree with Gwalcmai on this one Allenby. This might require a lot of work, but as I see it the benefits just outweigh the costs. We can avoid all these silly WE wars, and other hardcoded stuff just because we must use the GER tag...doesn't make much sense to me.

It's very easy to say that it will require lots of work when you wont be person doing it all.

Well I figured we do division of labor, such as one person going through the event files of the CP powers, one through the Entente, and one through the neutrals. And then we would continue the division through the other areas that needed to be changed also.

Do we actually know for definite that there are hardcoded features of the AI for specific countries? Have Paradox themselves said this? Because it would be silly to go to all that work to change the GER tag to something else, only to find that the same things happen. Maybe the large, heavily armed and powerful non-democratic country in Central Europe is always likely to declare war on weak minor countries that border it, whatever tag it has?

And I suspect that the Entente powers declaring war when WE reaches 100 is more to do with their membership in a different alliance than anything inherent to the GER tag.

It always happens in a particular sequence - once Germany breaks the French lines and starts sweeping south into Vichy and the Atlantic coast, they always declare war on Netherlands, Denmark and Norway - the last two just reek of WW2 hardcodedness. Of course the simpler way would be to replace Denmark and Norway with different tags so the Germans won't declare war on them - we don't have many of their events so it's an easier task.
