hio.....in my last japan game the soveit union had 120 amoured units and 250 infantry...this was in dec 1941....and germany was stuck in front of.. moscow/lennigrad.....while germany had some 50 units in poland ((guess they were sightseeing))
 
hio....in my japan game persia desided to fight the soveit unit and england.....fair enought but india was guarded by less than 10 units...iraq had allied germany and the soveits had no army on persia border....hence persian will be able to expand easly....i really think if you know how ((i dont )) is to make india a british puppet nation with own army (( i beleive in ww2 the ROYAL INDIA ARMY OF BRITIAN had some 1 million men under arms)).....many mods and DH GAME HAVE DONE THIS. ....keep in mind the AI has great problems in fighting a 2 front war.
 
hio.....the nxt issue is something that really PISSED ME OFF in my japan game.....my invasion of china was rocked by massive rebellions in chinese provinces....every two weeks the same damn provinces would rebell ((it explains why in my german game japan lost in china...the AI just wouldnt be able to handle it)).....actually it was just annoying once i realize they would rebel every 2 weeks....security units with armoured cars attached and manchuria units took care of them......the real issue was the effect they had on the front lines.
 
hio....normally when a province rebels....ownship of the said province remains with the occupying nation unless said province is empty of invading units then the rebel gets ownship of the province but in china this wasnt the case....the rebels were granted ownship whick meant the occuping units turned into the attacker and not the defender. OKAY...but...but...(and why it pissed me off)....this means an army attcking out of a province that rebels automanticly turned from an army attacking the next province but an army retreating to the province it was minutes ago attacking....and if the province that they were attacking and now turned into retreating into has a enemy unit...the whole army gets destroyed!!!!! I japan lost 13 divisions due to this. I never seen the like before...the only thing i can think of is that the game is treating the rebel units as paratroopers...anyway it just delayed china conquest by maybe 6 months.
 
hio...i sure there are some more minor things i seem to be running out of time and truth to tell i usually rather play than post....anyway i would suggest that if you havent you look into DARKEST HOUR...its cheap and has many more mods that might give you some ideas....including the TOTAL REALISM MOD which orginally on HOI2 involved some of the people who worked on the orginal condumium mod. AGAIN...THANK YOU for yopu great mod and hard work and looking forward to the next version.
 
hio....the next resouce that is lacking are RARES...its really hard to build a stockplie and the AI is unwilling to trade any to germany....this is due to the massive expandsion of IC and really is a AOD issue...as i dont think it can be fixed in the MISC TEXT file....anyway i edit a save game to give offmap resources to most of the major nations

balancing everything is always very very difficult ... many times I have settled for an acceptable compromise in iron Fist.
 
Historically the Japanese in China have done badly, very badly, big losses and whole units destroyed, I just tried to simulate this.
The human player will surely do better than the AI

How many Soviet armored brigades serve at the end of 41 to equal a German Panzer?
If you look at the confrontation and the losses, for the Soviet it is a massacre ... as happened in history.
 
hio....poor old england was losing badly in africa....she needed a much larger army but while she had the manpower she was building mostly navy units

The British are weak at first, in Africa they can also lose, but in 44 after having developed the right doctrines they will be much stronger while the Italian will no longer have much work force.
Being a game there is also variety, it is not said that it will follow the story with certainty ... for sure the English are strong on the seas, almost like the USA.
 
Certainly iron Fist will have defects, I accept any criticism as long as it is constructive.
The team should also be considered to understand how much difficulty and hard work there was to make iron Fist.
I'll put the following teams together for "Total Realism mod", "Darkest Hour" and "Iron Fist".
Compare how many people have helped me compared to the other games and you can understand how Iron Fist can be imperfect ... or great considering the effort of only 4 people. ;)

hio....i have polayed a game as germany to june 1941(( plus 3 starts i kept redoing opening moves)) and 1 game as japan to dec 1941....at both end points i load to see what the major AI nations were doing.....well they were all dead broke...no money in the bank...in fact all resources were low...partly due to the AI just massively building industry and the number of tech teams they had...but something is wrong when england is -378 dollars....anyway in my next game i will rise the amount of money each IC makes in the MISC TEXT.
I know that the money issues are from AoD (maybe even a carry over from ARM, DD, HOI2, ???). I've played different verions/patches of AoD and it seems whenever the war goes pass (or is in) 1945, the majors (except Ger & Jap) run out of money (usually, as you mentioned, in debt) and out of manpower.

One thing I have on my list to update AoD is to go through each country and:
  • see what their population was in 1945
  • make events that can increase manpower once that country is X% (maybe 5%) manpower left before going to zero
  • allow a country to go up to 20% of population (based on their population that year) before incurring hits against the economy
  • allow a country to exceed the 20% threshold up to 30%, but be penalized for each 2.5% (so 4 events to penalize them)
Of course this only deals with the manpower issues at 0. Maybe we could come up with something similar for the money issue?

It really sucks when the USA stops fighting Germany and Japan because they have no money, no manpower, or both.
 
HIO....just to be clear...i hope i didnt offend you with any my comments....i realize that you working alone and as i said i thought you mod was good. I meanly mention DARKEST HOURS and its mods to be sure you know about them and maybe get more ideas for you own MOD....sadly its unlikely you could just copy/paste events from a DH mod into your mod. anyway keep up the good work.
 
hio....what if you give a dinner party and no one shows up....lol...thats the state of my japan campaign...now at dec. 3rd 1941.....i have some 20 mountain divisions...20 cavalry divisions ready to invade burma and india.....the british have 2 divisions (from nepal) fighting the invading persians. IN fact britian has a total of 11 infantry divisions. ITS AI besides being minus 375 dollars is making factories/ships/planes and way down on the bottom of the list some infantry divisions. Most likely england lost most of its infantry units in france and never build more.
 
hio....usually IRELAND usually plays no role in most games...just a large lump on the map. been that way in HOI2/DH/AOD. IN both my german and japanese games IRELAND has become a factor.....in the german campaign ireland begged me to ally which led me to unexpectly having to rush 6 divisions to counter invading england who want ulster back.(in this campaign the england AI actually made an army).....in the JAPANESE campaign ...germany invaded and conquered ireland (wow) and now holding it with only 3 divisions. AT some point you might considered adding some ireland war events....especially the reaction of the UNITED STATES to it joining the war....i.e. an event if ireland is conquered having the irsh-amercians rushing to join england to free it (adding via event manpower to england and maybe an infantry unit named IRSH-AMECRICIAN FREEDOM LEGION....NEEDLESS to say it is easy for me to suggest you make events etc....since i not doing any of the work...lol...so feel free to disregard any of ideas.
 
hio....slovakia in all campaigns had its economy crash...it badly needs resources and since it can only trade with germany and germany wont trade any since while it has a huge stockpile it wont trade any good if its income of said resource is nil....slovakia cant get any....it really needs some off map resources.
 
hio....ITS been many many years since i played AOD...in fact back then i played it mostly with the old IRON CROSS expandsion which never really fully took advandage of all OF AOD base game features....in fact i only reinstalled AOD to play this mod....so i am unclear of what is an AOD issue or a MOD problem. I will once again mention the problem with the AI mostly running out of money and shortage of resources...especially of rares. (none to be traded for by 1937). THE money issue might((maybe)) solved by increasing how much each IC creates . in the MISC TEXT the ratio is set at 2 dollars for ever ic....I going to start a new campaign...either as russia or usa....and i plan to increase it...maybe 6 per ic...I REALLY FEEL that it just too low as is.....between the cost per tech skill level (( set at 1.65 per skill level!!))...the number of tech teams that a country will have active...the fact money is really the only thing AI is will trade for goods and the need to fund consumer spending . FUTHERMORE while it is expected that central planning states would have issues with making money it seems that the free market nations are much worse off.....maybe a side effect of policy settings.
 
hio....it is very easy for me to offer things for you to do to YOUR mod since i wont be putting in the time nor have the skills to do it...so please dont be offended and feel free to totally disregard anything i say.....anyway something you might look into to solve the resources shortage issue is to add some techs....that add offmap resources when reseached....mining techs for energy/rare and metal.....oil drilling for oil.....this is old ideas from the IRON CROSS expandsion....in the last DH patch they added some mining techs....mind you if you add a new tech you then got to be sure the AI reseach them.
 
hio....on the airplane tech page you have to techs called fighters. ONE is for regular fighter planes...the other is for long range fighter planes....can you clear up the labeling...the only way i could tell the differance offhand is by looking at which model has longer range.....maybe call the long range tech list LONG RANGE FIGHTERS or HEAVY FIGHTERS.
 
hio.....since i never played beyond 1941 i have no idea if you add attachments for planes....if you havent you might considered doing so....not so much escort fighters but other things ((since you made long range fighters a seperate unit)). MAYBE say an anti-tank gun for CAS (( increase ground attack valvues)) .....fuel drop tanks for all types of bombers ( INCREASE RANGE) or torpedo bombs or mines (anti-ship attack) for navy bombers....anyway it is something you might considered and again thanks for you hard work
