Well, does Genoa work as a trader nation?

Well, survival doesn't appear to be an immediate problem, if that's what you mean. I'm sort of worried that Genoa is going to eventually end up at the mercy of her neighbors due to poor expansion opportunities early on. Maybe this isn't 100% bad, but I don't think its good for a supposed major power to be in such a tough spot.

Other than weak domestic power, Genoa seems to work alright however. I think all I need to do is work on the Republic's place in Italy again. Some early(er) generals and casus bellis plus more flexibility in gaining shields and I think it'll be ok.

I'm going to work on it right now. I don't think anything I do will impact the Genoa-Byzantine stuff, in case you're worried, Byak. :)

Edit: While I'm at it, I think I'll do a few balancing changes for Granada.

Ok. Bunch of re-balanced events and stuff heading your way Archduke. Let me know if it passes muster.

Cheers.

Well, in vanilla, one does not expect Venice to fight with Austria on it's own with it's starting power. How come the leaders of Milan make allying with it lousy? Do they always steal sieges or something? Couldn't Genoa jump on Tuscany or some other smaller italian and take some land from it in 1 on 1?

Checking, reading now. Will icq you, MM, can I have it again?

ICQ # 171237816 -- I should be in your message book by now, methinks. No worries.

I'll comment more on Genoa and my odd experiences playing it once I get some sleep. Cheers.

Yep, but I had you on my american ICQ, gotcha now.
