yeah so this is getting pretty dissapointing

where is the update from anyone

jfc its easy af to just be like

"yeah its not ideal, we didnt know this was going to be an issue, we dont have an eta for gamepass and we dont control their timelines HOWEVER we are working with MS to look into ways for this to not happen in the future as we recognize this isn't at all ideal and its taking much too long!"

its extremely simple to just COMMUNICATE...and its dissapointing that after 4 days there is zero comms on this issue from CO at all

Gonna pile on here... I want to play this game, what I can play is great. Unfortunately playing through the Windows/Xbox store leaves me with a bug that whenever i try to place anything larger than a fire station (ie college, university, airport, power plant) the game either crashes to the desktop or flat out blue screens the PC.

Going a week without even a word about the ETA on a patch the Windows store is ridiculous. COMMUNICATE.

They had a really great and professional marketing campaign. But man, the performance has dropped since release. And I am not talking about the game's performance.

Agree with everyone here, It would be really great to get some sorta info on the MS Store/Game Pass version. I wouldn't mind even if they told us that it's gonna take another week. At least knowing what's going on is better than not. And besides, Game Pass has been around for quite a while now and there's hundreds of games, Microsoft's gotta have some guidelines for how pushing updates works and how long it takes...

I get it that you are frustrated, however talking about "downloads" is difficult terrain, to say the least.
Deleted some posts, no infractions given. Yet.

I get this same BSOD on my PC, gamepass version as well. At least now I know it's not just me, I haven't found anyone else mention this until now.

I got it first when connecting power to the small coal power plant right at the start, and second time placing the water pumping station, again really early game. I didn't want to try it again because whatever it's doing, BSOD is not good and I don't want it to fry my PC.

PC is a 7800X3D, 4090 and 32GB RAM. I also used all the suggested settings, apart from playing at 21:9 1440p with everything else (other than the suggested settings being off) at high.

What worries me is that I assume the patch coming to gamepass is exactly the same as the steam version, and unless others on steam are having this same issue it might need a specific patch for game pass.

I also don't really understand why it takes this long to push the patch through. I play plenty of other games which are on both steam and gamepass, and they all update within a few hours after steam.

Anyway, rant over..

However, the silence from CO is becoming deafening. An update on the progress of their post launch work and any eta for upcoming patches would at best be greatly appreciated by the community right now, before the simmering tension boils over.

Communication, is everything.

I'm loving the game, but you'd expect many more hotfixes and for these hotfixes to reach those on gamepass, by now. No excuse here. Look, we get it, publishers wanted their pay day so you were going to release it as a beta - unfinished product. Okay, you did it. Launch was terrible. You've managed to lose yourself any respect you once had with a lot of people. But the way for you to improve this situation is to communicate and get to work - fast.

I kinda of look at it this way. 2 people go to 2 separate retailers and purchase the same SKU item from the same manufacturer, but both are broken and have to be repaired. So both go to the manufacturer for them to be fixed, but they help one person while the other stands there waiting to be helped and they tell them "we'll be with you soon". Time goes by, and they've helped the one person, but haven't said a word to the other one standing there. Then they walk away for a few minutes, come back and still don't say anything to the person standing waiting to be helped. Now imagine you're that person waiting to be helped. Would you feel as though they considered you a valued customer? Would you feel as though you were treated the same as someone who bought the product somewhere else? The principal in the situation is the same, only difference is that it's taking place online rather than in person. I personally don't have any ill feelings towards the folks and CO and PDX, and I have both gamepass and steam versions. But I do think the people that have been waiting since launch for the same patch that people who bought it through another retailer got deserve at least a short statement, even if it's just "We don't have an ETA at the moment but we're working on it". Yeah people will still be mad that it's not patched, but at least now they have information. It's the unknown and feeling being left in the dark that's frustrating people, in this day of social media and a constant online presence, I can't think of why any major company wouldn't be able to keep people updated in my opinion. But this is all just that, my opinion. Take care.

The manufacturer sent repair parts to both retailers, both retailer received the parts at the same time.
One retailer was faster than the other to proceed with the repairs.

We are now shouting at the manufacturer to take action on a task that is out of their reach.

I get your point, however in general you don't make a contract with the manufacturer but with the retailer.

Good ol' car analogy:
When you bought a Dodge from a retailer in - let's say - Paris, France, you won't go to Michigan if the car breaks down but to your retailer in France.
You can't really blame Dodge if that retailer is slow in processing your case.

Now we have the situation which would be best described as a recall if we stick to our Dodge example. So Dodge made the decision to recall their cars due to some problem and to refit some parts so they work properly. The actual refit then again is done by the retailer in France, not Dodge in Michigan. Dodge from Michigan only provides the parts.

For all we can tell PDX/CO provided the "parts", ie the patch, to all retailers. Valve made the rollout; MS, for whatever reasons, didn't.
I won't say that there aren't some reasons in the contracts between PDX/CO and MS that lead to that delay, I honestly don't know, but giving all the blame to PDX/CO seems to be a bit misguided.
/edit: Apparently there is information out there which would indicate that indeed PDX/CO is to blame here and didn't provide the "parts". So grain of salt...

And the manufacturer has provided zero communication on the issue - for which this is the reason why people are shouting at them. Speak up.

Can you blame people? PDX/CO seem to think a lack of communication is a way to conduct business. So even if Microsoft are to blame here, how would people ever know, if the issue isn't being communicated effectively by PDX/CO. People are paying customers - speak up.

Is there a way to transfer a city made in the PC GamePass version to Steam?

I'm not at the point where I am going to throw in the towel and get the Steam version for reliable updates, but if this is a problem with all future updates, it may not be worth the hassle to keep it on GamePass.

Shouldn't be an issue, just copy your saved city. Xbox saves should be in: User/AppData/LocalLow/Collosal Order/CSII/Saves

Thinking about moving to Steam if this continues. Tbh I don't use GamePass, only renewed it because I wanted to see if CSII will even run decently on my PC. Tho now, because of all this silence and poor communication I'm not very keen on giving them money xd

As a developer myself, you have no idea what are you talking about.

This is not on MS.

MS Store has it's own process as any platform would have, it's the developer / publisher responsibility to understand how things work when they decide to distribute a game via a platform (same thing we do when developing apps for iOS / Android) and create the necessary internal steps to handle patches properly.

MS Store has it's own channels and options when the developer expects to have to launch hotfixes/patches, CO/PD did NOT prepare for this considering how much time has passed already AND the lack of communication.
