Is this the thread for problems? Because I can't even run the game - not even a crash, just nothing happens.
No, please start your owen fresh thread with full problem and system details, thanks.

It would normally be displayed on the main menu (bottom left), but that was broken a few patches ago. You can get the checksum by going to the Multiplayer menu and hosting a local game - the checksum is stated under the player list.

You can also see the checksum near the bottom of your logs\setup.log file.

Hello. My save game won't let me continue past August 29th. It crashes at that point. I have 2.36 YRDK.

View attachment optimized.rar
I ran the optimizer on the save game, but get the same results either way. I attached the optimized version, as its a little easier to read.

I posted earlier here with some system specs and whatnot.

Just a humble question.

Do you think you get the time to update this beta when you are done with the CK2 DLC, Doomdark?

Could someone give me a hand in installing this. I've an updated 2.3.2 patch. I've tried 4 times to get this working, i paste the beta over the rome directory but every time i try to start the game, it chrashes before it even starts. i stand dumbfounded as to the cause of it.

Help would be much obliged. Very enjoyable game except for all the errors!

BREAKING HEADLINES I got it working! It seems like there was some problem when i tried unpacking it with winrar, it wouldn't extract the exe. file. For whatever reason.

Found a bug when assigning tributary titles like "Pontifex" and "Tribune of the Soldiers" to characters, they don't get the title. It's like nothing happens at all.

It does give the character the title, but the character browser doesn't update immediately. Try just scrolling down in the window, even just one "notch" is enough to refresh the titles.

Thanks. I forgot about that.

Yeah, it would be wonderful if there was a hotfix for this. The beta is otherwise great but this crash makes the game almost literally unplayable. Hopefully it's a quick enough fix to be done in a free (!) afternoon sometime?

I'm having the same problems as Anreads above, with the subtle difference that I can't fix mine and remain totally baffled.

I cannot start the game and am getting a 'Rome.exe has stopped working' alert every time I attempt to run it.

I'm using a clean install (I've reinstalled the game four times!) patched up to 2.32. That runs fine. I've tried WinRAR and WinZip, and I've tried extracting the file directly into my Rome directory and extracting it elsewhere then pasting it in. All on clean, working installs that then go kaput.

Any help?

Almost certainly you are not successfully extracting the beta file so that the contents overwrite the 2.32 files, instead they are probably ending up elsewhere like in a subdirectory or the Virtual Store. You could try copying your Rome installation elsewhere (like say c:\games\rome-beta\ ), extracting the beta somewhere known like the desktop or c:\temp\ , and then drag it into the new beta dir you made, allowing the file move to overwrite those older files.

Thank you very much for the quick reply, very good of you Andrew. I thought it was the extraction too but it turns out that nope, the solution was to run rome.exe as administrator, which I probably should have thought of sooner given how often that seems to be the answer. Alas, it's gone 2am so Europe will have to tremble before my legions some other day
