It would likely cost them A LOT but if I was CO I’d look at hiring ex Maxis staff that worked on SimCity or even try hire Ocean Quigley as a consultant to help improve the simulation aspects of the game.

SimCity 2013 did many things right and although CS2 had taken some from it, it could do with borrowing a bit more.
Oh come on SC2k13 was a giant turd. It was tech demo at best. Full of bugs and let's not forget the "It has to eun on our servers or it won't work", except it didn't need to.

Come to think of it, this is exactly what CO has been doing with CS2, soooo maybe you're not wrong.

The main downside to SC2013 was just the map sizes, that’s it. SimCity nailed a lot of things that neither SC1 nor CS2 can/could.

I guess another failed attempt at getting folks back to the game. Just stop trying to make this game worth it. This company is worse than EA (and that says a LOT). Either put all hands on deck and do the industry crunch method to make this game what you promised it was going to be 4-5 years ago. My only regret? Wasting money on a fake promise and being scammed and lied to. Game update crashes the game, and even if the creators of said mods fix the issue, its still no point. I'm just glad they didn't try and launch Life by You because that would've been an even bigger failure. Admit CO and Paradox, you guys are a failure at this and no amount of effort you guys try and do, will never make up for the false promises. Be a real company and make your staff fix this by whatever it takes. Better yet? Take a page out of Frontier and see how they listen to their base and how they actually communicate. You might learn a thing or two.

You know things are well and truly dire when people start saying CO should be looking to SC2013 for inspiration and guidance....
To be fair, I still had a ton of fun with SC2013 once they got them offline. It’s just the awful map sizes and weird water mechanics, and improper public transport.. actually when I write this I wonder why i liked it XD

However, I certainly had more fun with it than CS2. There was just a fizz that SC had, particularly when buildings were being built rtc, the graphics and music.. it’s really a nice game

Well, you can't blame CO for broken mods. Using mods is always on your own risk and you know that. Just wait until mods got updated. This is nothing new and the same for every game (maybe you forgot about CS-1).

Thank you for the patch but I honestly have no motivation to play the game when the simulation is not working correctly. The office and specialized industry bugs are too much of a major issue.

We know the meaning of "soon" in CO/PDX's vocabulary, so I shudder to think what they mean by "in the future". o_O

Almost like agent based simulations for cities that are meant to scale up to huge numbers are a bad idea.

This patch it's just not enough...
We are still missing the bigger picture here.
Cities Skylines 1 eventually became a well-rounded game. It worked well with and without the many mods and its community was just great.

Then comes Cities Skylines 2.. an unfinished game that could have really shine upon its predecessor but lacks basic, BASIC, gameplay mechanics already used in CS1.

Why? Why would you give the community a reason to get mad about?
Why not deliver a good, FUNCTIONING product instead without rushing?
Nobody had plans to stop playing CS1 so that you had to rush and deliver something unfinished.. but hey... I guess is gaming industry nowadays ah?!

Just one thought. If you have something like 5/5 sticking around for such a long time without getting fixed. This is not rocket science but it has become that because your overcomplicated code. What we are talking about is a office that don't have anyone to sell to and because of this is laying of its employees. I mean if this is hard to fix for you, then you have to come to the conclusion that it's time to surrender. it's time to accept you will never fix this bug or anything else that been pointed out to you for a very long time now.
My most charitable take is that they are working on a fundamental rework of the underlying system and don't want to just release a band aid patch. Really hoping for that. We have to remember that the game was not released as a simulation game but rather a city painter. They reverted course only after the massive outcry from the player base.

CS-1 without mods was literally unplayable for me, and compared to CS-2 there are still many things which are not possible in CS-1 or not as convenient as in CS-2. However, the success of CS-2 is also heavily determined by the asset editor.

Somehow I blame only Paradox, not CO, for the situation we're in. Without this *** ultimate edition, they would never have had to develop a DLC before not fixing most of the bugs and releasing the asset editor. And life would be more peaceful right now.... xD

Aren't we missing the industrial piers and and cargo port quay mentioned in the Free patch updated plans?
  • Cargo cranes: Those are most probably the upgradable cranes of your cargo harbor. Just click on your harbor and there you have your cargo cranes.
  • Industrial piers: The final DLC is going to differ between leisure and industrial piers. But: This patch is supposed to contain only 3 Leisure piers. It's literally written in the headline "3 Leisure piers".

Unfortunately, the Asset Editor related work has had to be pushed to the background while we have been focusing on other priorities. After the Bridges & Port related work, we will have the team tackle the remaining issues, and the asset editor for buildings will be released as soon as it’s ready.

The plan is currently to support building assets (and props) and expand the supported asset types in the future. Once we have established basic support for assets in the Editor, more complex asset types, such as vehicles and networks, can be worked on.

We’re currently working on:
  • Fixing the issue with too few resources produced by offices being consumed, causing office company worker counts to drop to the minimum amount.
  • Updating the production panel to provide a better understanding of the production and consumption of resources in the city.
  • Rebalancing resource consumption to ensure all companies work as intended.
  • Improving the water simulation and updating the maps to ensure they have water outside the playable area.

The reason we still call PDX mods beta is because the asset editor is missing, is not really any features related to PDX mods, its just to set expectations on modding in general.

More animations and updates to citizens are in the works but we do not have an ETA for when they’re ready for release. Similarly, bicycles are planned but on hold until Bridges & Ports is done.

Bicycles, Asset Editor, and more bug fixes.

Thank you for communicating with the community. There's a lot of us who are still cheering you on and rooting for the Cities team to accomplish its vision of making this the best city builder and simulator on the market.

We may not like this news; we may not like the wait that remains. But at least we know. Thanks again.

I figured this out using the Skyve log files. Prior to the update this would have been the screen where you would see the Error Locating Central Directory message popups (if you were getting those before) due to some old deleted saves that were still in the hidden save game folder.

If using Windows, using File Explorer, with Show Hidden Files checked in the File Explorer settings...navigate to:
C:/Users/YourUsername/AppData/LocalLow/Colossal Order/Cities Skylines II/Saves

Inside that folder, delete any old game saves you know no longer exist - I had 3 which I deleted through the interface over a year ago which starting with the former update were popping up those Central Directory errors you could dismiss. Apparently deleting them back when I did it only removed them from the menu but didn't actually remove the actual save files. After I deleted those 3 old saves and all other corresponding files starting with those same save names and emptied the trash, the game now starts and runs fine and I didn't lose anything with my two good saves that I have been using recently.
Thanks!
You gave me a quicker and clearer answer than the official source.
This method totally solved my problem!

I noticed that when I connect a street with the new pier it looks like a street and not like a pier.
