can someone help. I started as the united states in 1939. I started with the division templates for marine brigade mechanized brigade infantry division calvary division and I think one other. after doing some research on tanks I was hoping to get armored division as a template but I did not. and I did not get paratrooper as a template after researching paratroopers. is this a bug or is it something else? has anyone else run into this problem?

I have a general with 10/24 units, 2 marines, 8 infantry divisions sitting in nagasaki with a battleplan to naval invade with the two marine divisions assigned to it. They are at the start of said battle plan. They are definitely assigned to the plan. Yet they are not preparing for attack and the plan still has a -20 still preparing penalty. What am I doing wrong here? Do all units have to be assigned to some form of battleplan in order for the marines to start preparing, and if so what on earth would I assign the 8 infantry divisions to?

Any idea what the higher level synthetic refineries do? I see no effect in game, still 5/2, and I get no option to upgrade in the construction queue.

As far as I know, each level of synthetic oil tech lets you build another refinery in each state.
So lvl 1 means you can build 1 in every state that still has a building slot free, lvl 2 means that you can now build a 2nd one in each state that already has one in it(assuming you still have building slots free).

edit -

Is where I found the refinery info, plus has a lot of other tips/answers to common questions.

I don't think you are meant to get a whole new template for those no.
As far as I can tell having Only tanks in a division without any support will likely get them killed off fast anyways.
Because while they often have good armor and breakthrough values, but their hp is crap compared to infantries so once they start taking hits they will get ripped apart fast.

I was thinking it was possible to convert outdated equipment to a variant, rather than just switching the production line. IE if I have an existing stockpile of obsolete Panzer IIs I was thinking it was possible to convert them to Marder TD's but I've only figured out how to switch the production line for new construction. Am I wrong? I mean I can certainly use outdated equipment on 2nd line troops or give it to allies and hope that they use it intelligently, but it does lower the value somewhat of obsolescent stockpiles.

I am missing something apparently obvious since this isn't like the number one repeated question on here.... I have various newly created carriers and the starting 3 carriers for Japan. The three originals have their planes on carrier missions automagically while all the ones I made, their planes are constantly demanding I give them missions and I can't figure out how to give them cag duties. What am I missing???

@Vince75
Looks like you need 10684 infantry equipment and 269 support equipment. You are making 5.5 inf eq. every day so it is going to take some time. Reinforcements has priority so your existing divisions will get equipment before new divisions.

Edit: Pfft. Didn't see there were two more pages on the thread :)

Sometime when retreating from battle the fleet get set to "Do not engage". If you manualy interfere with the fleet before it is done repairing you may have to set it to "Fire at will" yourself.

Edit: Fire at will should set the cags to cag duty automatically.

The infantry can just sit there while the marines do the invasion. No orders needed for them.
Possible problems could be:
  • Not enough convoys
  • Too low transport ship tech(bottom of naval tech window)
  • Do not have naval superiority in every sea region they will pass through.

What in general is a good composition for screens for a 4xCV fleet? Also info on how different fleet compositions counter each other (will 4xCV and CLs always wreck everything else?)

I had a CV(4) + CL(12) fleet like in HoI3 and it got wrecked by a doomstack Japanese fleet of slower ships double it size.

So yeah I'm still trying to figure this out. Trying 8CV and 24CL to see what that's like.

Is there no way to create a division template by scratch? I want to create a Heavy Tank only division as Germany and I'd prefer not to spend points modifying the existing Light Tank division to make it happen.
