I have never lost a naval invasion in the game. Mostly because the AI is crap.

I was wondering if you have your troops driven back into the sea do you lose everything? All of the manpower and equipment or is some recovered? Is it the same for the AI?

Is it possible to convert medium armor III to a modern armor variant?

And if so - is it also possible to convert heavy armor III to a modern armor variant? AFAIK, each of MARM and HARM lead to modern armor.

You wish to send lend-lease to a country. Is there a way to see what equipment it actually needs (other that tagging over and looking at its stockpiles)?
AFAIK that's the only way. You can't see it because it will allow malicious use of the lend lease screen to check other countries' stockpiles. In MP you can just ask, in SP I'm afraid you will have to tag switch to see.

Bummer! Of course, I would NEVER tag over to do a malicious check of the stockpiles as opposed to seeing them in the lend-lease function.

Where can i find a comprehensible list of general traits that still get applied when the commander gets a post as a field marshal?

What is the net bonus a field marshal having such a trait grants to a subordinate general?

Is there any noticeable effect if both field marshal and general have the same trait - i.e. do the bonuses stack?

Unless something has changed:
* ALL 'General' traits are retained when promoted to Field Marshal
* 50% of their effects are passed down to the subordinate units
* They DO stack.

That's actually pretty good news! ;)

Thank you!

Hey, a few questions regarding the new France tree.

1. There is a focus that gives civilian factories in metropolitan areas already invested in. Now how do I invest in these metropolitan areas? Is the only investment the one national focus called invest in metropolitan France?

2. The focus that gives help to Finland. Does it lead to decisions or events that would let the allies interfere in the Winter war, or is it just one time weapon shipment?

3. Yesterday I did one game where I interfered in the Spanish civil war by declaring war through the decisions. No other European country acted on this. In the development diaries it was advertised that interference or non interference in SCW might lead to a larger conflict. In what scenario can this actually happen?

Dumb realization: I just realized that I don't know how to see claim/cores on the map like in HoI2. How do I do that in HoI4?

how to see claim/cores on the map like in HoI2
They're shown in the Foreign Claims box in the upper left of the state dialog displayed when you click on a province.

As far as I know, there's not a map mode that emphasizes cores and claims. (That's important info in EU IV or CK 2. But I, at least, haven't found it particularly relevant to HoI 4 gameplay, unless you're playing around with particular achievements or desiring to form particular countries.)

I'm playing a non-historical USA game in which Japan went the Shogunate route. Since the focus tree leads to war with USSR, I figured I wouldn't have to worry much about the Pacific theatre. However, it is Feb '39 and Japan has just DoW'd Communist China. I tagged over to see if I could determine why and discovered that Japan also has an annex war goal against China which it hasn't activated yet. I thought maybe China had triggered this with its 'Pick a Fight with Japan' focus but it hasn't taken it.

Does anyone know how this came to happen since the Shogunate path has no focus which I can see which would cause this?

Not sure how or why but I have seen this as well. I don't think Japan will start a fight with the US.

If you get a production license for a ship, can you change the design? Say if you are UK and get a license from France to produce Surcouf, can you put seaplanes on it to produce a scout?
