I started a threat in the main forum about this, but I might have more chance of a reply here. It concerns the following:

I'm playing as the USSR. I declare war on Poland before Germany does. Poland is therefore not in the Allied faction.

I'm in the middle of the war against Poland when Germany declares on them. On the same moment, they join the Allies and now I'm at war against the Allies (so far I can understand this). But with time passing by and EVERY time Germany declares war on a nation, they join the Allies and as a result, my Soviet-Polish war.

Why should every nation that joined the Allies because Germany declared on them also join my war? It's not me who declared war on them. I'm now near 1942 and the USA has declared war on Japan. They too joined the Allies (USA I mean) and I'm as a result at war with them too.

So this started as a war between two countries and has now ended in a war against half the world. Because Germany decides to overrun Europe.

Also, I can't make peace with the war leader despite them being at 100% chance of surrendering. It wasn't me though who brought them to that point, Germany overrun them, but still... 100% is 100% in my opinion.

Is this WAD? If so, isn't this a bit illogical? I declared on Poland because they weren't in a faction.

Yeah that sucks. However, look at it this way. With the allies Guaranteeing Poland they should actually DOW you the minute you attack.

Reactions:
I have a question about airbases and their size limit.

I upgraded an airbase to 10/10 (actually I upgraded a couple of them). I noticed with this particular one that the amount of planes that could be based there did not increase. It stayed at 200.

Can someone please tell me if they have noticed this and why it would happen? If it is a bug, I will report it.

Thanks

Perhaps I wasn't clear in the question. I know how to add units to the front/order. But how do I detach them from existing order, without detaching them from the army. I just want some units to perform a special task, without AI retaking control after the order is finished.

I think that's what lihp answered for you. If you remove them from the army and then re-add them or If you give them a new battle plan and then delete it, they can still be a part of the army and not be attached to a particular plan. In this manner, you can actually have an army where they are assigned to 10 different battle plans, or none at all, or somewhere in between.

It is WAD... at 50% tension, everyone can join factions, and the Allies are the faction of protecting national independence. Whether it's wholly desirable in every case is a separate question, but it should probably be considered all intended at this time.

by pure coinsidence I managed to do what I needed without this go-around problem approach. I detached divisions from order while keeping them in the army. by 2-3 clicks only. And using ctrl H and LMB. I'm trying to recreate it now;)

Playing as Brazil, is it best to just spam pure infantry [+support] divisions until you control all of South America and it's resources? Building artillery to add to your divisions seems nigh-on-impossible early on due to the lack of factories and resources?

Could someone please walk me through how its decided who territory is occupied by?. I'm tearing through africa but despite being occupied by my troops attacking from my occupied provinces and them having no claim on it patches of land keep going to the uk and it's becoming infuriating

select the unit and hit ctrl-h

Build divisions tab. Then edit divisions- you can set three levels of priority there.

Plus I really like this- top left "Division equipment" button. You can set types/levels of equipment that template receives.

I apologize for not being clearer. I know about that tab but I'm asking about already built divisions. For example, playing as Germany in 1936 I start with 24 Infantry divisions. Is there a way to give priority to the 10th and 18th divisions to receive new, equipment before the rest of the starting divisions?

Are light cruisers considered capitals or screens in Hoi IV? I originally though they were screens like in Hoi III, but looking in a config file over starting units I see BB, CV, CA, BC and LC are listed together per fleet, but DD's are seperate from the other ships by a #torpedoflotte tag (or something like that). Don't have the file here at work so I don't remember the excact tag.

I have problem with starting new ironman game on Beta 1.1.0. I don't know what should i do. ;o
My problem is "Achievement cheats" modifier before starting the game. I can't do anything with it. Can you help me?
I don't have any mods.

Hi,

Why when I add divisions to a land army that already has orders (like front line),those do not inherits current army's orders ?
Am I clear ?

I always have to rebuild the frontline etc, boring :s

Thx

Any ship with a blue diamond on it is a capital ship. So heavy cruisers are, light cruisers aren't.

If I understand you correctly: no way. Once their task is finished AI will reset battle plan and add them again.

No need to you can join the army by selecting army and <ctrl> + LMB on the battle plan. Selected units join the army and the battle plan.

Inside the army you can just select whole army and <ctrl> + LMB which assigns the whole army to the battle plan you clicked on.

You can set reinforcement priorities for theaters for sure. I think there's a way to do it for individual armies as well, if you select the army, but I cannot remember. You can also change them to a unit type that is identical except for reinforcement priority. No new equipment, just a new marker.

Well, that's a bit rash, isn't it? He should probably try the "properties --> local files --> verify game cache" thing first before doing a whole re-install.
