Well, the point is that this is not getting easy...
I finally got updated drivers from fujitsu-siemens website, but when I try to install them, it says that I need to have VGA controler installed. I have read in internet that I should use Driver Cleaner, and I did it, but still the same problem... this is the tale which never ends...
And it escapes to EU2 affair (even if it only happens with it)...
If somebody else has an ATI Radeon and has updated drivers...

I'll try to get other...

Well I have a Radeon, just not the Mobility version.

Why not contact fujitsu-siemens and ask them the procedure for installing the drivers they supplied to you.

Yeah, it's what I'm gonna do. I haven't found a F-S center and I'll try to pass this week. Hope they'll provide me a cd with latest drivers and specially hope they will work... If it doesn't work, I won't be able to play EU2 !!

Get the Radeon ATI drivers from www.omegacorner.com, they've had all the tricky and stupid OEM stuff removed, much nicer.

I finally got to update my drivers... I install the last version provided by omegacorner website... very easy (not like ATI updates).
BUT...
Still the same problem...
It shutdown again, and I made a dxdiag to check any problem, and it seems that is the Direct 3D which gives me problems: after a shutdown from EU2, I checked (dxdiag) and when I was checking Direct 3D it shutdown again, and for another second time...

I think this is more likely to be a power settings issue. Please do the following:

1. Click Start->Control Pannel->Performance & Maintenance->Power Options
2. Click on the Power Options tab if it isn't already selected.
3. You will probably have the Portable/Laptop power scheme running. That is fine.
4. Below this are two sets of settings: one for when running on AC (plugged into a wall) and one for when you're running on battery power.
5. In the AC column, make sure each option is set to Never.
6. Now click on the Hibernate tab.
7. Make sure that the Enable Hibernation check box is not checked.
8. Click Apply and then Okay.

I expect that this will resolve the problem (unless it really is driver related).

I already did, and everything was ok, so it can't be the problem, neither.

It has to something related with Direct 3D, as when testing it, the computer got shudown. I tried to play disconnecting Direct 3D, but didn't work either...

I don't know what to do...

(It's not a virus, as I scanned it yesterday)

Well, after reinstalling several times BIOS updates, ATI drivers (from 2003, I finally found ones!!), checking everything, and have visited a lot of websites, I feel I have advance... a little bit.
I have tried this afternoon the game and it was running for an hour... that means something, maybe, or maybe it's random... the question is that from a time, I could only play for about 10-15 minutes...
I checked after the crash today, dxdiag, and it crashed again testing Direct 3D, and it's not the first time it happens... how can I see if it's a Direct 3D problem? How can I check where the problem comes from. The Windows XP Event Viewer doesn't say nothing...

I did, and it happened what I told you: when I start a check for Direct 3D, the computer shuts down, as if I was playing EU2...
I put the refresh rate on 70 Hz... do I change to 75?

Then the problem is not with EU2, since Dxdiag will crash when trying to run the test.
75 Would be a good standard to test at.

Hi!
I've tried with 75Hz and it lasted for an hour, and it crashed again. Then, I did the dxdiag and it crashed again too. The point is that doing dxdiag usually crashes when I have suffered a shutdown in EU2...
It strange that it happened in an hour, exactly the same as yesterday... it's like a cycle... 'cause before was 20 minutes, but always more or less the same time...

I'm afraid you're going to have to reboot your machine every time you finish EU2, whether voluntarily or by a crash. There doesn't seem to be any other way to get DirectX going properly again on your machine, for some reason. Sorry.
