Such as perfecting my French cavalryman? ;)

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten. I'm getting to it. And the planes, and the tech bars. (Actually, tech bars are done, I think).

I've upgraded the machine, so things should progress better now.

Marvellous :)

How many planes have you made?

What are we thinking for our relase package? JUst a collection of files in a .zip folder, or an installer program?

Can we use the mod dir function? I know it works with EU2, but did they ever implement it into HoI?

As for an installer, I can probably get something put together.

I'm pretty sure moddir works (although I've not used it myself) - isn't that what Josip's mod used?

Depending on how large the mod ends up, one possible suggestion is to put the graphics into a separate file, so people low on bandwidth can just download the essential elements.

Also, we need to explain to people in documentation exactly how to install the mod, and what changes it will make to their system - I remember when Josip released his version a lot of people were nervous about running a strange .exe file on their machines!

If you don't mind, Stephen, perhaps you should write the documentation seeing as you are the team's most fluid writer, as you demonstrated with your AAR. :)

Mod_dir works very nicely in HOI. OK, with the exception of the province.csv and ai files, that have to go in the normal directory. The province.csv will definitely be an issue. As for the AI files, naming them TGW_something.ai should keep things sep'rate.

Afterthought: If a full blown installer can't be done, a self-extracting archive might be good enough.

I thought someone, NightY perhaps, offered to do an installer for us.

If we can get a real installer, that would be excellent. If not, the self-extractor that Gwalcmai mentioned should work just fine.

When is The Great War mod available

When The Great War mod is available for download email me ---My Emal---

The 'release' of the Release date is very good news. I hope that the beta product will be juuuuust stable enough for me to write an AAR using it, an AAR that has been planned for some months now which is a sequel to this AAR here .

Well, i'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

Good to see so much interest in the mod.

I think we'll have it like CORE or the unofficial mod - whereby all files are placed into a separate folder, and all you need to do is either manually (or the installer program does it) alter the target of a new shortcut icon to include TGW-mod

Two weeks remaining

Seeing as time is running out, I thought I'd start issuing orders in a gentle and kind, if quasi-dictatorial way, so that we don't trip at the final hurdle. ;)

Technology - Completion of the tech tree is the main priority. It would seem that Johan did not have time to complete the naval and air techs, and so I have decided that they ought to be complete in any case. SK will complete the air technologies, and Steele (hopefully) will complete the naval technologies. Hopefully, they'll be organised into a tree, as opposed to a long list, and each tech will be given attributes that will be tested next week and adjusted accordingly. Therefore, the tech trees must be complete within a week, and ready for testing.

AI - I have recieved little feedback from any of the folk who volunteered to script AI files. I shall chase them up and see if they are still working on them, and if not, will give the work to any team member who wants it. If not, I'll give it a go.

Ministers - It should be quite easy for me to be able to script the numerous minister lists that still need to be done.

Leaders - KB hasn't emerged and still holds onto the most important leader lists (German, Italian and French). If he doesn't turn up, then I shall just have to go through the leader list and pick up any of the posts he made. As far as I know, he did not post the Italian or French lists, so I may well be forced to create temporary new ones until he arrives.

Province Information - Has this been finished and scripted yet?

Convoys - Still needs to be scripted, as far as I know.

Descriptions - Most important countries are done. Other countries can simply have the generic version but by slicing off post-1914 references.

Sprites - Gwalcmai has promised to complete my French cavalryman and still has some aircraft to do as well. This area doesn't require urgent work.

Propaganda Posters - Steele is compiling (compiled?) them, and are largely done. In any case, they are not vital components of the game.

Events - All crucial events complete. Two events of great importance that still need to be done are Ulster's independence and the Twenty-One demands (the latter is being worked on).

Stephen has the honour of compiling the final version, so work to be included in the first version should be sent to him.
