Still not working after update. No RB button on the UI anywhere, the the hotkey doesn't work. Posts on Discord make it look like it's working for some. Created a new playset with only this mod, still not working.
Really nice progress since I last checked the mod! I didn't feel like the mod was mature enough for my needs at release, but I'm leaving it in my playset now. Thanks for the great work!
Aaand now to the less pleasant part, i.e. the issues. Sorry! Here's the issues I've found so far.
Again, sorry for the issues! Feel free to handle/prioritize them however you'd like, just wanted to let you know what I've found so far. Thanks for the great work once more!
- Probably well known, but sometimes segments really don't seem to like joining other segments, so the sidewalks bug out where the segments join. Thought I'd mention it for completeness's sake anyway.
- The new Discover menu has a tendency to crash. Sometimes when I change to another page or another category, the menu closes and re-opens, but instead of the Discover menu, it's the My Roads menu that's open. When this issue occurs, it's very shortly after opening the new page/category (I think much less than a second after opening - but the new page/category does seem to open successfully before the menu closes). Downloading roads works though.
- Narrow sidewalks don't (at least always?) work properly. Try creating a 2-unit 4-lane road with sidewalks, and you'll notice all the citizens walking next to the sidewalk instead of on the sidewalk. This was very consistent in both directions, and I did in fact not see a single citizen walk on the sidewalk, I think. My thought is that either the citizens should walk on the sidewalk or creating such a road should ideally require me to disable some safeties from the mod options (I haven't disabled any safeties).
- Thumbnails might be a bit broken (not sure if fixed on the next game launch, since I haven't tried). There's a fairly generic thumbnail for every Road Builder road. It's the same for all roads in a category, but the Road Builder roads in each category have a different thumbnail than in any other category. This is true even for roads downloaded from the Discover menu where their thumbnails do work.
- Sometimes the game doesn't really like intersecting Road Builder roads with vanilla roads. I tried to create a 2-unit 2-lane road with sidewalks but no parking, and I think I ended up with slightly widers lanes than the similar vanilla road with parking. When I tried to intersect it with the vanilla road I created it from by drawing it through the road at a 90-degree angle, the game just wouldn't let me. I could draw the road from the vanilla road to create a T intersection, but even then I couldn't draw my road to the other direction after that to make it a 4-way intersection.
Ooh, thanks for the tip! I've actually made a (small) mod, which is why I have it enabled. I guess I should disable it when I'm not working on the mod - I had no idea it would cause such issues. Anyway, thanks for the reply! I guess that's one more reason to be so eager for official asset mod support. Most of your issues with the UI are because you have uiDeveloperMode enabled in your launch settings. You should disable this unless you're making mods
As for the rest, they're known issues which will need the asset editor to properly fix
I actually really like this bug because it more closely reflects reality, where drivers don't park in the lines perfectly.View attachment 1186889
I have encountered a problem with parallel parking. When I create them with markings, the markings are only a visual addition and are not functional - as you can see in the picture. Cars park next to each other, also on the parking lines, which looks relatively ugly. In the case of perpendicular car parks, there is no such problem. Is this a bug? Is this the way it should be (parallel car parks with signs then lose their meaning)?
I believe pedestrians will walk on a shoulder- the gravel roads do not have sidewalks, only shoulders. Not necessarily a question about the mod itself, but - Do pedestrians walk on the "shoulder"? I want to have roads with curbless sidewalks, but I'm not sure if pedestrians actually walk on anything other than the sidewalks.
Also, what are the empty lanes used for?
That's exactly what I have discovered. Of course, with a lot of effort, you can use the lane connection tool to prevent lane changes and turning. But there is still no solid median. This can be partially concealed with the help of a pedestrian crossing, but how many pedestrian crossings do you want to install along the road?Great mod, but when use two dividers to design side roads, lanes will be confused at the nodes and cannot be planned with 'traffic'. Vehicles can traverse divider and turn around without restriction at that.
