I have downloaded patch 1.07 and wanted to update my EU II but when i click on the downloaded file i says that EU II is not installed on my computer, when it in faqt is. I then thought that maybe it was because i had edited in some of the Database files and I therefor unintalled EU II and re-installed it - Without effect. It still will not work.

What shall i do? I cant play EU in the first edition because it crashes alot.:( :(

Please Help Me.......

2 most common causes are in order of probablity.

1.) You download the incorrect version of the patch for your publisher.

Patches actually go by publisher not region or language as may be implied by their name.

ie. North American version is really the Strategy First version and should be used by anyone no matter where they live if they have the SF version.
You can find the publishers logo on your CD. If you don't know what patch you need just tell me who the publisher is.

2.) The registry did not record the correct path to your EU2 install.
The solution to this is to edit the registry entry to the correct path, or reinstall to the default directory.

Hope that helps, let me know.

Thanks a lot, although I already figured out that I shoud try to go with the publisher which is Strategy First and it worked, i am grateful for you reply.

One other thing though. The flags are messed up. e.g. Spain has the Burgundy flag and there are some other flag mistakes to. How do i correct that?

Spains is supposed to have the burgundy flag...;)

it was changed in one of the patches...

The flags were changed to be more historically correct. You can change them if you like just cjeck out the editing forum.

How do I edit the registry entry to the correct path? Or, what is the default directory supposed to be for EU2 for the 1.07 patch to work? I have COTN and I installed it to the default directory. I also downloaded the SF version of the patch twice, and neither one worked.

Use regedit.
Go to run command and then type regedit.

just remeber to backup your registry before editng it, as errors can seriously smash up your windows

Bah! back ups are for wimps. :D

Depends on who your publisher is!

Just reinstall and use the default directory.
It should have Stategy first in the path.

It does, I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice. I have downloaded the SF version of the patch from two different locations. I even downloaded some of the other versions just to be sure. I went in to Regedit, but it looks like it is in the correct file, so I am at a loss. What should I be looking for in Regedit, exactly?

Okay...here is what you do....Go to your search for files or folders...click start and then search...oh wait...what version of Windows are you using? Doesn't really matter per se...but it might...Let it search for Europa Universalis and paradox and Strategy First. All three of them. If it finds anything after you officially un install, delete it. Usually the typical windows uninstall doesn't get every bit of the program. You have to use custom, and get every bit of it.. Once you have gotten it all reinstall. Most people use the typical and put it in the "C" drive in the pathway that includes strategy first/Europa Universalis 2....That is for just about everyone, as they don't partition their hard drives...>I< put it in my "G" drive. But when you extract the patch you have to make sure that you extract in the right pathway....If you are using winzip(And if you aren't why not?), make sure to use winzip classic. Click extract. IT will give you a list of drives. Since you likely only have a "c" drive, click the little plus sign to the left of it. It will show you a list of folders. Next to the Program Files will be a plus sign. Click the plus sign, and then look for the folder that says Strategy First, next to that Folder should be a plus sign again. CLick the plus sign of that. You should see Europa Universalis 2. Click on that folder. IT sets up the pathway for your extraction. Click ok. IT will ask you if you want to overwrite some stuff. CLick yes to all, instead of just yes(Or you will be asked over and over again). It will install the patch nice and clean.

Um!
You say you are trying to install 1.07 on the version you got from CotN.

Word from higher up is:
The answer is, you already have 1.07! :)

Castellon is right...forgot about CoTN part...Might need a beta.....

Spain does NOT have the Burgundy flag. They are similar but not identical. Look more carefully.
