Fourteen missiles, a maximum of 252 damage per salvo, eight minutes and forty seconds apart.

This trap might be survivable. Hope that we shoot some down.

We pick up the incoming missiles at 8.3 million km from the Gunships.

At 78,400 kps they can punch through the full depth of our PD envelope in five seconds. We set all the guns to "point blank PD fire".

We can afford to take about 220 points of damage to our shields.

That's how much we will regenerate in the following eight minutes and forty seconds.

We shot down half of them.

Awesome. We needed to knock down at least three. Got seven.

Third salvo interrupt.

But if they continue firing only fourteen missiles at a time, and if we continue shooting down about half of the incoming missiles, then it's not going to matter how many times they repeat the process. By the time each new wave of missiles arrives, our shield is back at full strength again.

The second salvo appears on the PD RADAR screens.

We want to shoot down at least three missiles.

Shot down nine of them that time.

Five shield hits. Shields at 69%.

They will again be back up to 100% before the third salvo arrives.

And how far away is Red 1 from the jump gate?
I know Red 4 is very close, but that is some other fleet's problem

We'll catch them long before they get near the gate. Hours before.

So the Deux Sevres don’t have the firing range of the Lot-er-Garonne?

That's how I read it, yes.

The same missiles and launchers, but weaker Fire Controls?

Fleet Intelligence did a great job predicting this possibility. Well, @RobbieAB did, but still.

Has to be. Same reload cycle and size means same launchers.

Not enough missiles to attack us with either so they were kept in reserve. The gunship fleet can tank these salvoes all day. Lovely.

A human would have transferred the missiles to other ships - or not have build two different missile designs in the first place. But here we are.

Those shields are definitely earning their keep.

Yes, shields seem to be almost mandatory if we're facing serious opposition.

Our whole navy will need a re-think. If we survive the war.

I think Red 1 is definitely killable. Red 2 is where it gets interesting.

But this is also just that it takes time to play and takes time to create the updates themselves. Plus we analyse this to the bone.

There's no doppler effect from closing in on them between salvos? (PD works well enough to compensate anyway, but I was thinking if you are approaching them there should be slightly less time between actual missile arrivals since each consecutive spread needs to cover less intervening distance?)

Eight minutes and forty seconds between interrupts. That's his reload cycle.

It's a trap!
Bugger.
Does make me wonder why they kept some in reserve.

Was it only a single ship they hit?

What does the A under status mean?

Very much.
If it can have shields, it should.
