Cross and Middleton are two of our civvie shipping companies.

And we don't build Freighters (or anything else) that large.

Ah. In that case I stand corrected. Good.

We've maneuvered them into AWACS range, and we count 15 enemy ships.

7 x Lot-et-Garonne missile cruisers
3 x Gard AMM-PD vessels
3 x Vosges Laser PD vessels
1 x Sarthe Heavy Laser Gunship
1 x Deux-Sevres missile boat.

Weren't there two Deux-sevres in Red 1?
Otherwise pretty close to Red 1.

Having followed Red 2 down the chain of waypoints, we are now leading them back up the same chain of waypoints, toward the jump point ambush.

This feels a bit like a soap opera. To follow, or not to follow...
Exactly.

Despite their clear technological advantage, our opponents strike me as a bit of a one-trick pony.

Admittedly, it's quite a trick.

Size-12 strength-18 missiles that travel at 78,000 kps and reach out over 200 million km. One missile hit killed every Pop on Harmony.

... but once you get past that, there's only the one Sarthe to deal with.

Or once they run out of ammo..

There were some civvies in the area -- between Harmony and Red 2, in fact -- but right now they're ignoring that again it seems.

Well... HOPEFULLY we can keep their interest and lead them into the jump point ambush.

I'll get back into it later.

Actually I hope they waste their shots even before that. But either thing would be great :)

We'll have to come out with a class of warships named after cats.

To drive off the mice.

The Gunships are closing in, intending to take station 275 million km in front of Red 2, and then escort them to the jump point.

Now in formation. On our way to the jump point.

One billion km to go. At 13,600 kps that will take about 21 hours and 45 minutes.

Good morning all. Are any of you guys mods over at Aurora? For some reason, I couldn't log in under my old account so I tried to create a new one. I no longer have access to the email I used back then(10+ years ago) nor even remember for sure which one I used. I would prefer to continue using this identity over there if possible so people know it is me making the comments over there. Any suggestions? I already tried some variations of the name but apparently they are all taken.

I had exactly the same problem with Steam only a few months ago (locked out of my old account, and my recovery email account no longer exists) and I simply got in touch with one of the head guys at Steam (contacted him directly, I mean, not through their customer management channels) and it was all fixed in two days.

Is there any way to contact Eric? He manages the Forum, yes? How about GarfunkeL? He knows Eric and perhaps might be able to contact him.

Now 687 million km from the jump point, and everyone still seems satisfied with the cruising arrangement.

Fourteen hours to go.

The particular formation that we're using is due to the fact that we have to keep our Gunships out beyond his maximum missile range (until we reach the jump point) but we can't keep him within our own RADAR coverage from that far away... so we're using a pair of stealthed Intel ships to relay data to the Gunships.

I sent @GarfunkeL a pm. Hopefully he will be able to help.

Edit to Add: I have to login to be able to message Eric over at Aurora.

Those reconnaissance ships are proving to be extremely helpful.

LOL.

NOTE that this "contact re-established" notification includes exact tonnage figures (7,330 tons).

That means that it was a RADAR that made contact, not a Thermal or EM sensor.

Exact tonnage figures require a TCS (Target Cross Section) that only RADAR can provide.

Is he really cruising a fleet of out-of-ammo vessels straight into that Fighter ambush that we laid MORE THAN A WEEK AGO?

Very helpful indeed.

Those three ships are headed toward a point only 14 million km from our stealthed Fighters.

Of course... our Fighters are exhausted after a week deployment with no chance to rest. They will have serious penalties to-Hit.

But the good news is that all three of those ship classes are ECM-0.

Most enemy types are ECM-6 instead,

The unsuspecting opponent is now only 77 million km away.

Against ECM-0 opponents, we could already open fire.

But the closer he comes, the less effective any turn-away maneuver will be.

Don't fire until you see the purples of their eyes!

He turned around again!

*sigh* - It appears that he was just swanning around after all.

The group of three out-of-ammo ships also reverses course and heads out of the Fighter trap.
