How do you even use this mod in Linux
Probably with great difficulty. Communicating with external programs in Linux with Proton works completely differently to communicating with external programs on Windows. Since Skyve uses this for a great deal of its functionality, it would most likely need an extensive rework in a separate fork to have the same functionality. I don't think the Skyve team needs that extra workload.

Edit: Fixed-windows defender was being silly

I'm getting a Skyve out of date error with new version.
When I go to the mod, it shows it is for the previous version. When I select the new version, it reverts back to the February version again

Part 1
I have come to a very unusual (and startling, plus probably erroneous) conclusion about the CTDs that I have been seeing.
The story so far.
Multiple, consecutive CTD, with no explanation, and not much in the way of evidence, I reported a good sample of these to the feedback forum, and plodded on.

Part 2
I decided that I'd try something radical, so I,
- used Skyve's "debugging" tools to try to identify the problem (with no success, but they did make it easier to report problems),
- completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game,
- deleted all my Mods
- deleted all my save games
- effectively deleted everything, except a playset that holds all the new country / region packs from CO (which are inactive), and Skyve.
I ran the game again - same issue, CTD, CTD, CTD.

Part 3
SO - I deleted Skyve from my (single) active Playset, uninstalled it, and started the game again, in complete Vanilla mode. I used Easy mode because I didn't want the challenge of 1 tie and limited money, and started a new city.
I took my time, and set up a city grid, and an industrial grid, connected it all to the outside power, put in waste water outlets, and started sucking up groundwater.
No CTDs!

Part 4
I started getting fancy, putting in some basic services, mining and harvesting enterprises, and, guess what - still no CTDs!
Then I started laying out residential areas and industrial areas, planted a circular forest and started to harvest it, laid in an oil well and an ore mine, and - still no CTD.

Part 5
I then started setting up the industrial yellow rectangle, and industry started arriving, and pretty soon started complaining about lack of workers, which I'd already seen from the water supplies, transformer, etc.
No CTDs.

Part 6
Then I started adding housing, and the people in their taxis started flooding in. 4,000+ in a very short period of time. I currently have the city (town) chugging along very nicely with commercial, offices, industrial and services, and guess what? NO CTDs!!!

Part 7
My conclusion, based solely on my observations - Skyve may be interacting with the game in some way that the game doesn't like, and is crashing the game.
I REALLY hope that I've got the wrong end of the stick, but my "smoking gun" is currently pointed at what I consider the most useful Mod that we currently have available.
Please consider.

Sorry about the number of posts, but I was limited to a very small number of characters to get this all across to you, with all the steps, observations and inferences along the way. I hope you can make sense of what i've reported, and can /will do something with it.
thanking you in anticipation

Thank you for this great mod.

You need to put together a method for installing the Skyve app from a website, or an .exe installer. Some of us cannot get the app to install at all, since there is no "Install Skyve" button or prompt showing up in the main menu of the game or the launcher, after installing Skyve into your mods playset
