(from section 7, I bolded some points) "In addition, Paradox shall also have the right to collect technical information from You, such as computer configuration, browser type, platform type, internet service provider (ISP) and software usage, which are gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, product support and other services related to the Software Product.

Paradox may use any collected information to improve its products, administer the Game, analyze trends, or to provide services or technologies to End User. In addition, Paradox may use End User’s software usage information for the purpose of research, development, administration, support and marketing of Paradox products and services."

I don't think Paradox have a problem with it. It's just standard legalese for a game EULA. But think of it this way, gamers keep giving money to these companies, it's not like they are going to change it.

However, it seems unlikely that Paradox is ever going to exercise their rights. I mean, how often has it happened so far?

and where exactly does it list uses? because I don't see much use it allows for, such as videos

and for a game that allows mods some of these eula restrictions could be an issue

Did you click on and read the thread that Mav12 provided you with? Paradox allows posting to youtube.

He knows too much, catch him!

And the winner of the Don Quichot 2015 award is.... *drumroll*

user700!!!

What a waste of energy to be concerned about things like this.

So you think they'll destroy this game because of some EULA? I'll not even ask if you are dumb. xD

If you dont like the EULA dont buy it. How simple is that? And stop using internet to since your data is probably stored someway. ;)

Software usage usually refers to the usage of the specific software in question.

It's an EULA, they're covering their bases. It doesn't mean they're going to haxx0r your computer in order to offer you things you might like. Every EULA ever says stuff like this.

We have nothing against user700 wanting to discuss the EULA, so long as the purpose is for discussion. You've almost hit the point where it seems you are just trying to cause conflict though, so please tone down your posts user700 =)

And if you have particular complaints about the EULA, please PM me or TotalyMoo and we'll respond. Forum users have no say in what goes into the EULA.

It says that if you break something you can't sue them. It would be illegal (at least where I live but I assume pretty much everywhere) for them to try and charge you for a lawsuit against them that you end up winning.

the eula appears to say otherwise

do you even know of the many Youtube LP'ers of Paradox games? Arumba07, Quill18, Mathas, Northerlion,Shenryyr,Kailvin, Marbozir ect

some of these people have even gone to Stockholm and talked with Paradox employees

Why would they not let this game of all the others not be on Youtube

EDIT: Also do you not realize the EULA is basically the same for most Paradox games, for example, I just looked at EU4s its literally the exact same and I watch peoples Youtube videos of EU4 everyday

Well, it's the fact that developers with their EULA is a bit like saudi-arabia with sharia law.

Even though youtube-ing and showing your own videos of the game is against EULA rules, developers let it slide and don't act upon the Eula code,

So does the Saudi-arabia who has a law, that states for example... death by stoning for adultery, but the judge often let's it "slide by".

Saudi arabia kills people for stupid shit every day. Not the best example.

Yeah but there exist situations, where (for example drinking alcohol) certain things are ruled by the discresion of the judge,...meaning that sometimes, the sentence wouldn't be as bad as it otherwise would be.

Anyway... please ... back on topic of EULA.!

No, I just think it is worrying the positions that it takes, this seems like something that if more people know about they would not be happy about.

please feel free to PM me, but I think the best way to handle the software usage would make this an option on install if you insist on having it at all, with the most ethically be "opt in" and not "opt out". I want this game to be great and hate to see it tangled up in such a thing that is this intrusive without a great benefit from it. Or at a minimum let us know exactly what the limits of such "software usage" information extends to
