Redownloaded, can confirm that the problem with the saves hasn't recurred. Thank you!

With Ck2plus 4.7.1, my checksum is IILI. No obvious problems yet.
Can anyone confirm they have the same checksum?

The upcoming v4.7.1-compatible version will have at least one bugfix, so the checksum will be different anyway.

After winning the investiture controversy, when the Pope died, the next Pope reignited the controversy, and in doing so he became independent.

Is this WAD? In any case I guess it has to do with this:

Code:
letter_event = {

    id = rexteut.2024
    desc = OK

    is_triggered_only = yes

    trigger = {
           has_global_flag = "investiture_imperial"
           NOT = { has_global_flag = "permanent_investiture_imperial" }
           religion = catholic
           controls_religion = yes
           NOT = { has_character_flag = "emperor_installed_pope" }
          }

    option = {
          name = YES
          ai_chance = {
                   factor = 2
                   modifier = {
                               factor = 10
                               has_global_flag = "unlawful_imperial_coronation"
                              }
                  }
          clr_global_flag = "investiture_imperial"
          clr_global_flag = "unlawful_imperial_coronation"
          set_global_flag = "investiture_controversy"
          set_defacto_liege = THIS

In particular set_defacto_liege = THIS

v1.7.1
Just a small compatibility patch. There are a couple of other bits, but nothing to get too excited about.

DOWNLOAD v1.7.1
Checksum: NPMP
  • Minor tweaks to ensure full compatibility with CKII+ v4.07.1
  • Fixed an issue where winning the Investiture Controversy by vassalising the Pope would result in multiple event pop-ups and a subsequent tanking of Catholic moral authority
  • Gave the province of Van another holding slot
  • Reverted Rugen back to feudal in earlier starts. In addition, the Rani (Rugen and Rostock) are independent between 867 and 1066, and start out with some event troops

Enjoy!

(Checksum for bookmarks-only should be LMAW)

Thanks, but the problem of multiple event pop-ups also happen to other events triggered by the new holder triggers, for example I had it happen this time when a new emperor inherited the HRE (it fired as many times as the number of titles I had (in this case it was the event where as successor you may choose your policy about the investiture)).

EDIT: In this case it's rexteut.2027, triggered on_new_holder, on_new_holder_inheritance and on_new_holder_usurpation.

As an idea I'd move most of the events (those set to happen when there is inheritance (both the HRE and the Pope)) to on_yearly_pulse (at most events would take one year to trigger but you can justify it as the Emperor/Pope taking their time pondering their options with the new Pope/Emperor).

What's more I would only move events (and those that begin an event chain) that modify values (prestige, piety, imperial decadence) and those that show pop-ups. It doesn't really matter if a flag is set (or unset) in parallel 5 times silently (also using on new holder triggers makes it more exact) but it matters if the buffs or debuffs are applied multiple times.

As a very very raw fix I moved every event (but those of maintenance) to yearly pulse and the event that fired 8 times now fired once a couple months after succession.

Obviously with the move to yearly pulsed events some flags should be added after some events ( though most already set flags to prevent this).

Bookmarks 962 and 950 are perfect to start playing Poland. The ruler of Polanie Mieszko was baptized historically in 966. He should of course have the sympathy for Christianity and be able to go on to this faith, but he should not be a Christian. Of course, it would be great if there was also an event chain associated with the baptism and change of religion by the Polans after 962.

Hey, there are some small issues I noticed in the 950 bookmark. The ruler of Strathclyde isn't Cumbrian like the tribal provinces he controls, which he then gets "Wrong Holding Type" modifier for. The ruler of Northumbria also begins with a son and heir not of his dynasty.

Could you please upload the edited file?

As I said I just moved events to on yearly pulse, at first glance it seems that flags are already set to prevent the events from firing when they shouldn't on the next pulse, but I didn't look extensively so use it at your own risk.

In an observer game i had, paulicians became a heresy to tondrakians, and i later saw a paulician liege switch to communal government. Not sure if thats intentional or not?

edit: Converted the game to eu4 for shits and giggles. The peasant's republic government form that communal realms get seems to be missing ruler titles? At least, the two minor greek realms that were communal, one tondrakian and one paulician, had "norulertitle" as the ruler's title. I dont know enough about localisation to know what's useful information, sorry.

Hi! I went back for CKII after a long pause, and I tried your mod, which seems super interesting. I just have a problem: in CKII+4.07.2, in the TOG bookmarks, Magyars and Bulgaria do not start at war with each other. I know Rex Teutonicorum is not yet compatible with 4.07, I just wanted to signal the problem if you are working to make it compatible.

Thanks for your work!

Been a bit busy for a while now, so updates have been a bit... sporadic. That having been said, having looked at the CKII+ v4.07.2 changelog, I don't think there's any major incompatibilities, so the current RT should at least be stable until I have the opportunity to put out a compatch (there are a few other issues I need to look into which are delaying it, sorry about that).

Of course, think and should are doing a lot of work in that sentence.

Having now checked it, RT v1.7.1 should basically work fine with CKII+ v4.07.2 (the only issues are the "only once a month" employment constraint and the lone Italian Count of Corsica). I'll see if I can put out a new version with a correct checksum in the next few days (after I've sorted out the aforementioned issues).

Also, the Magyar-Bulgaria war was moved to the 888 bookmark, as that's closer to the historical date that the former invaded the Carpathian basin (sometime in the 890s from what I can remember).

Thanks for your interest!

Thanks for your reply!
That surely explains its lacking in the 867 bookmarks.

May I just ask if one starts in 867 if the carpathian invasion is still bound to happen around 888, with also the abandonment of the land in crimea and kiev? I ask just because magyars have still a lot of event troops in 867, and if they receive more a dozen years later it may be a bit unbalanced. On the other hand I really like the old gods start, so may I ask if there is any console command to start the invasion in 867? (one may always start a regular invasion, but that does not lead to the land abandonment)

In any case, thank you very much fro your work and efforts!

EDIT: Never mind, a normal victorious invasion (possible if one raises the population via console) is also doing the trick of the volgan land abandonment. So I can play this mod, and having the 867 with hungary. Yay!

Thanks again, time to start a new campaign!

I came across a problem. In the case of bookmark 1066, some western units use muslim models. What can this cause?

No idea what could be causing that, because this mod doesn't touch unit graphics.

Is it only with RT enabled that this happens?

Copoffers, that's why I was surprised. I have looked through the files and found nothing that could affect the unit models, but some influence exists, in the screenshots attached.
Vukica, it is possible that there is some influence, but it seems to me that it is mainly a matter of RT.
