Hey myers when is the new version of ATF is coming out .

Great, put me on the spot would you? I actually haven't done much yet. I think I'll try to rework the Babel event, and add cultures to the revolt.txt, and then release that. More substantial things are further off.

Re: the Babel event. It seems that some of the effects disagreed with the game for some reason. I removed a few and it works. The next version of the event will include massive badboy to try to induce civil war if you have the latest patches. Actually works quite well. Too well, I think; I was worse than dishonorable scum and DOW'd on by a bunch of the new nations. And had a civil war.

Aha, progress! And no one can blame me, then. :D Okay, maybe the tech editor causes a bug in the EU2.exe with the latest betas. What do you all think? Mosby, are you running with an exe from the betas, then modded, or is it a vanilla 1.08 .exe modded? We might be on to something here! Thanks LadyFabia!
I have made some experiments and I got CTDs when I played as Japheth and Ham and the Tower of Babel event occured.
I played with original EU2.exe 1.08, original EU2.exe 1.08 last beta, EU2.exe 1.08 edited by Tech Editor, and EU2.exe 1.08 last beta edited by Tech Editor. And the result is still the same.
When I played as Shem I didn't get CTD.

So the error isn't in Tech Editor and this time I'll blame you, not Tech Editor :p
What happened with Japheth and Ham?
The son cursed by Noah is only Ham, not Japheth! :D

Another thing :
Could you remove former culture when a nation is created?
I've found that China have Semitic, Sumerian, and Chinese culture.
Isn't that odd?

Giving the 3 orignial coutnries some BB is actually a very good thing to do. After a short time they will be partitioned between all other new countries.

good idea, keep it going....

I told you to do some research on the clustering of religion like I adviced you to do. Alas I could not find enough information to be of any help altough I did some extensive library research.

But still I think it is better to do cluster them in order not to frustrate relations between emidiate neighbours not to hamper country growth and province incomes and so on.

Last, I am currently reading a very extensive book on the history of India and certainly hope this info will be of use to you.

The story of Manu

I like to tell you a little story about the flood I read about yesterday. Noah's story is off course the best known but there is much more evidence the flood really happened next to the information found in the bible.

For one the Sphinx in Egypt tells us its story by some massive erosion. It is clear it has stood in an entirely different climate for a long period as can bee seen by the erosion of long periods of rain, a thing quit uncommon in Egypt. Next to this the Sphinx shows it has witnessed a large scale flood and stood below water level for some time by horizontal erosion marks on the sides.

But, the real story I like to tell to you origins from the Veda's the original Hindu scripts from India.

One day Manu, a young farmer was walking along the shore near the mouths of the river Indus when a fish suddenly spoke to him. “Please help me, I need protection.”
To Manu this did not sound very strange and as he liked to show compassion to the little helpless fish he carried the animal out of the water and put him in a jar. The little fish thanked him for this and trough a period Manu fed the fish and kept him as his pet.
After a certain time Manu’s fish had grown too large and so Manu dug a pond for him near to his farm where the fish lived happily for another year until he had finally grown to its full size.
At this point Manu took the fish from the pond and brought him to the sea where he set him loose. The fish thanked him and told him he would repay for Manu’s compassion one time in the future.

Almost every week Manu and the fish met at the beach where they talked and Manu fed the fish. Until one day a worried fish appeared at the beach and urged Manu to build a boat. “There is a flood coming which will cover the land in water. Build yourself a boat and bring a large amount of food to it and I will repay you with my gratitude for the compassion you showed.

And so Manu build a boat. The day after he had finished it it started to rain and before long the country started to flood and he entered his boat. After only a few days Manu was totally alone as all of the world had disappeared below the waves of the flood and then the fish appeared again.
‘Toss me a rope and I will bring you to land” And so Manu did, tossing a rope to the fish which swam him to the north until they reached the Himalayas where Manu could get off his boat. And so he did on a mountain which is still named ‘the mountain of Manu’s ascend’ today.
Manu thanked the fish and here they parted and did not see each other for the rest of their lives.

After a few days the floods subsided and Manu could descend from his mountain to re-develop India. He is still revered as the predecessor of all mankind.
(By the Hindu’s that is….)

I'm reworking the events entirely, and with the newest betas it should work excellently. As I said, I am adding the cultures to revolt.txt. In the Babel event there will be four options for becoming four different nations in four different areas for each of the sons of Noah. Much more interesting. It will add +35 BB, I think, so you are very likely to get civil wars ( :D ) until your government falls and enough nations declare independence to lower your BB below the limit. Also it will do the proper things with the cultures, removing the old one and converting a few provinces to your new one. It seems I forgot to convert the culture of the capitals specifically in the nation setup events, so I will make that change as well. Also, with this rework, the CTDs have mysteriously disappeared  . Okay, so it was my fault, I admit it now :p

Ehh. I still think that the flood actually layed down all of the sedimentary rock that we see, and the sphinx would have been post flood. However, we also have evidence that the Sahara was once well watered, with plenty of rain. That would likely have occured shortly post-flood, as the ground would have been saturated and there would have been plentiful evaporation for the rainfall seen.

As for the flood stories, hundreds of cultures worldwide have similar stories, which is definite evidence for a worldwide flood and/or common ancestry within a fairly short time interval.

Well, make whatever changes you want, editing the religion entry in the Nations.csv file that has all the nation attributes, email it to me in the next day or two, and it will be changed for the next release. I leave for a trip Thursday, and I want the release to be before then...

I will take a look at it and hope I will be able to do this. but I am not sure I will succeed within a few days as I have some heavy stuff comming up at work comming thursday.

Where will you trip go to?

I hope you can make it. It would definitely help.

The trip will take us to the Catskill Mountains of New York for a week and a half.

I might have made this too hard... As Ham then Canaan, I freed several vassals, then got bored and annexed a few nations, then got in the BB wars, then had a civil war that crushed my nation. Still fighting the BB wars, but as a 2 province minor

Looked at it and I do not know where to cluster which religion.

Are there any historical guideliness?

Which country had which type of religion for sure?

Catskill, that is way to the north (some 3000 miles or so...) tell me what you think of it when you return...

Unfortunately, on religion your guess is as good as mine. Actually, I would call them all either Idolatry or Nature-worship. Those are the broad categories, I think, other than godliness in Israel eventually.

But, for eaxmple was the entire religion of Egyt godliness. ?

At the moment i am reading a book on india and the harapan culture (which is futured in the mod IIRC) but no one knows what kind , not even what type their religion was. Adn they know pretty much about them.

I think it wil be better to just group some religions around a certain centre like godliness around Israel and the Middle east. Idoalatery in India Nature worship in the west and north of Europe and so on.

Israel was the only Godly country. The others of the area worshipped Baal, Ishtar, etc. Egypt was by no means ever a Godly country. For a short time, they were monotheist (under Akhenaton), but they worshipped the sun god, which they called Aton. But normally, they worshipped a whole bunch of different gods, headed my Amon, I think

I don't have to download the graphics, right?
And are the files in your website uptodate?
I prefer downloading from yours to Paradox's.

No. I forgot to. And now, since I'm on vacation, I don't have access to the internet with my laptop, which has all the files. And you don't need the files, but it would be good to get graphics for the user defined nations from somewhere, though all I did was borrow Kaigon's IES graphics (with his consent, of course.) Someday, maybe there will be dedicated graphics for this scenario, but I doubt it. There aren't any historical flags known for over 1000 BC
