All of this discourse comes out of an anxiety from the fanbase over the lack of communication from the dev team largely since 2.0's release. Anxiety I feel too, frankly.

Perhaps it might be in the best interest of the community to hear *something* out of the devs, to at least not feel like we're looking at another March of Eagles situation.

Promoting CK3 instead of I:R is a big LOL.
It's not like CK3 is a major new launch as opposed to a game that was launched an age ago to largely negative reviews.

I agree. I would definitely promote the latter over the former. If I had gone to an American business school, that is. Because otherwise I wouldn't have had half my brain forcibly removed in the first semester.

Plot twist:

The "New Grand Strategy Game" is actually Imperator 2.

Rome 3? I never figured out if we're counting EU:Rome ot not.
It's unknown.

I think there's a decent chance, relative to the normal probabilities, that the entire Imperator coding is extracted from the classical period via a strage Paradoxical transtemporal vortex and warped into the 1800's becoming ImperVictoria 3.

Not quite sure enough to offer the sure thing "Impervictoria 3 confirmed" though :p.

Well, PDX better stop recruiting more business administrators and focus more on coders and designers. Oh wait, the ones they already have actually did a great job revamping I:R, a job that could have been proudly presented at the event.

Ah yes, the rhetoric mastermind who starts every counter-argument with "weak argument", to make sure that his opponent knows that he is wrong. Genius move right there.

Between the end of Imperator and the start of CK3:
  • Two gigantic faiths (see Christianity and Islam) have taken place of the old faiths.
  • Western Roman Empire has fallen apart and crumbled.
  • All of Europe has culturally shifted, after the significant migrations that has happened.
  • The Pope has popped up as a religious leader in Rome, for large swathes of Europe.
  • HRE through Charlemagne has come into existence.
And these are just off the top of my head. It simply doesn't make sense to jump 900 years into the future, and pretend everything would be the same.

Trust me, if it was something we were working on, I wouldn't talk about it here.
But you don’t mention Victoria 3. Victoria 3 confirmed!

You also don’t mention the Cold War. EvW Remastered confirmed!

While I like I:R, I also never consider it when talking about Grand Campaigns. The lack of Imperial and Migrational era is a big thing here, and jumping into CK mechanics from I:R doesn't make much sense. So here I'm more bothered by lack of Vic2, while I feel I:R should have a separate event.
With thatsaid, I have no idea how they intend to play this GC seeing as they lack a save game converter.

"Join the teams of Crusader Kings III, Europa Universalis IV, Hearts of Iron IV and Stellaris for the largest event this side of PDXCON Remixed. In a tale that takes us from 867A.D to the distant future, you, the Paradox Community, will have a deciding say on events that unfold!"

Why no Imperator?

Yes, now the objections come to the timeline.

But they are also interrupted in the 4 games between EU4 1822 to HOI4 1936 and 1949 to 2200 Stellaris.

You could of course have played a world region in Imperator, on almost the same map as CK3.

That Pdx doesn't do this speaks for itself.
from discord: " through all four grand strategy games"

They just consider Imperator "small strategy game", that is all.
