The first time I've seen the Latin Empire appear when using one of the earlier bookmarks.

The Byzantines are blobbing in my game, nothing strange about that. What I find odd is the direction they've decided to blob.

I have to wait a few years to see whether they're heading to greet the Mongols when they pop, or if they've decided to head to India.

My game of CK is beyond any doubt the greatest soap opera of all time

I am married to the queen of HRE, while sleeping with the queen of Byzantine Empire.
Who is married to my son and heir.
Who is also my secret illegitemate daughter from a love affair a couple years back:

The HRE queen I am married to helped me plot to kill her own husband so I could marry her. Unfortunately her sister is married to the king of Norway/Ireland/Scotland, and the HRE is in continous war. I am trying to keep my wife as the empress, her sister has gone to war several times to claim my wife's title, all with the backing of the king of ireland-scotland-norway.
The Queen of Byz is carrying my child (My son thinks it's his), who will one day unite the crowns of Sicily and Byzantium. The current queen's mother was also sleeping with me.
In other words; my daughter-in-law the empress and my grandson are both my secret, illegitemate children.

My savegame right now is absolutely priceless. There is a lot more melodrama than this going on :)
Europe sure is turbulent.

The Golden Horde converted to Orthodox and married into the ERE. When the basilissa died, the Khan got it all. Meanwhile the Ilkhanate has gone Hindu.
And Georgia's not giving a damn. :D

Its not really all that surprising when you consider the situation. Georgia is de jure, so they'll always go for that, and once they have it there are a bunch of relatively weak infidel's right on the border ready to by holy war'd into oblivion.

Yeah, I've seen the Byzzies go that way several times.

Yeah, they've just decided to balloon.

Devouring every territory surrounding theirs, expanding ever outwards. Of course, right after I took that shot I glanced back to see this:

Civil War to lower Crown Authority. The Byzantines called in the Holy Roman Empire, but I'm still rooting for the rebels simply on principle. Despite being nowhere near them, they're starting to scare me.

It's player facilitated, so it's not really Strange, but I got a kick out of this. My long designs on Iceland developed...an unexpected hitch.

Because what better bastion of defense against the goddless heathens then in the absolute backwoods of beyond.

Finally, scoping out the southern end of the map in consideration for a new playthrough as Miaphysite Christian (Conquer from the far south clear up to Alexandria), I discovered this.

With the Youkhanns - and honestly the entire Iberian - going up in flames, I think I just found my new "pass time" dynasty to root for. He usurped the former king's title, but I'm just trying to figure out how. Unrecognized Bastard becomes King. There's one heck of a story there, I imagine.

Hmm. This Pope is something that you don't often see.

The strange thing as well that he was married and had kids. More than once he was married apparently and he has a ward. Wait a pope has a Ward ?. And a heir... Which is weird I suppose. But yeah I am wondering what happened to the world Catholics that the college of cardinals elected a Barbarian Mongol to pope.
