Not that strange but I liked it: East Iceland and West Iceland have dynasties with the exact reverse of one another's CoAs. Had me picturing a really petty, 500-year blood feud.

I accidentally hit the government form map mode...

Bonus points from being from an established feudal family.

Also, earlier in the game:

He inherited at age 1 yo. Did surprisingly well for an excommunicated kinslayer.

The Isauros Basileus decided to revive the Iconoclast controversy 400 years after abandoning it.

I wonder...If you converted the game, would the Mongols own America too?
No. The realm converts as a single tag, which will be Mongolia. The new world tags are hardcoded, the only check is whether you have Sunset Invasion active or not, there's nothing dynamic to add Aztec provinces to any other tag which might have held the title on conversion.

Aztec also won't be Catholic, sadly.

What if they held the Aztec Empire as primary?

Same as in CM - just norse. Because reasons.

Reason being that the game simply can't emulate the colonization of an empty province, so Paradox took the easy way and gave it to the Norse since they would get it eventually anyway.

Not very far in this campaign, but it's already been pretty wild.

The plan in this one was to start with Haestein, conquer Bretagne and then launch a prepared invasion against West Francia. Afterwards, I would convert to Catholicism and Norman culture (already present in about half the counties in Brittany) and make a kind of 'Kingdom of Greater Normandy.' Unfortunately, the invasion ended in White Peace and not long afterwards I converted to Catholic earlier than intended to put a stop to an Aquitanian holy war.

In the meantime though, I had betrothed my oldest son to a daughter of the Umayyad Sultan who had, through some fluke, become Norse religion. Later she was educated Sunni and the son converted with Haestein to Catholicism, but the betrothal didn't break and the marriage went through. Now they've given birth to mirza, Arab-ethnicity, Norse-cultured Catholic duke of Brittany who will probably convert to Norman at some point in his life.

Of course, now that I'm playing a Catholic mirza dynasty, I pretty much *have* to get waist-deep into the Crusades.

You won't be playing a mirza dynasty, just a single character - it's not a hereditary trait.

Uhm, it is?

Edit: Nevermind, I stand corrected.

Right, I thought it was hereditary like Sayyid but it disappeared on the next generation.

My mirza king still managed to win the first crusade for Jerusalem, so that was a cool moment.

As norse/norman you can still raid infidels even as a catholic, so just grab sayyid girls from Abbasids/Fatimids/Umayyads and seduce them(grab them as little children and raise them as catholics so they don't hate you too much for seduction).
