This will be my second AAR, the first one being abandoned due to a combination of laziness, loss of the save game, and few people expressed interest. (Thanks for those who supported me)

This AAR will take place in the 1933 (Beta) scenario in Mod34. I will be playing as Germany, partly because I want to redeem the lost AAR, and partly because Germany is awesome.

Basic Rules/Notes

1. Try to stay at least semi-realistic, ie. not invade the US immediately or declaring war on Tibet to gain war-time IC bonus. (This may be hampered due to my limited knowledge on the majority of smaller events in the time period.)

2. No cheats/console, except for an 'aid package' of 10k rares and metal, due to the rapid loss of materials and to eliminate dissent from liberating a fascist nation, or creating a puppet of logical choice, such as Poland civilian government area, etc.

3. Nukes, should they appear, shall be restricted to no more than 2 per country, per year. (Because I feel it just isn't fair if I launch 20 nukes at the US)

4. No reloads, except when crashed.

5. All trades at 100%

6. Expect updates to be infrequent, possibly once a week or a week and a half, due to severe restriction of free time.

7. Comments are welcome at any time, and please tell me if you spot mistakes, gross inaccuracies, or very unhistorical actions. (Actual events, I will have a free hand. Declaring war, not so much.)

8. I will try to respond to every question that is brought up, just be warned it may take until the next update till I read them.

Game Settings:

1933
Germany
Normal/Weakling
No Full IC/Tech Team Takeover (Former because it is too overpowered, latter because my tech teams are numerous and already decent enough.)

Important Goals:

1. Build up military and industrial capabilities during the pre-war period.

2. Try not to annex nations unless events or such require it. (Due to the fact that there are more military units to use.)

3. Defeat and annex France, allowed to puppet Vichy France. (Will force into alliance, because I'll need their support in Africa.)

4. Defeat Britain and its puppets, annexation is preferred except in the case of those large nations like India.

5. Annihilate US and/or USSR if war is declared. (Puppeting)

6. If possible, dominate the world with at least 9/10 of VPs. (I am still getting the hang of Mod 34, and have barely played Normal difficulty, the most was 3 game days)

Very interesting to see super Germany come from the '34 mod. You should have no problems in this game with the extended time, but why weakling? Why not at least normal? Anyways I shall follow this German crusade.

i'll follow too. good luck.

I agree.
Unless you are not familiar with Mod34 and especially tech tree, difficulty settings seems to be not challenging enough to have some fun.

It will be easier than stealing toys from a child, but good luck anyway :D

Here we go, then. World, we ready, for Germany is after you!

TheEnlightened1 and alan_le_cowboy: I understand your point, however I have never actually played on Normal difficulty before and thus feel that some handicap is in order. Thanks for feedback though.

BritishImperial: Thanks, I'm gonna need it. Good to see you again. :D

Inner Circle: Not for me it won't. ;)

Kurt_Steiner: Indeed. Good to see you too as well. :)

Expect some form of update in a few hours or so. (I suddenly have to type up a relatively large lab report and read some English stuff)

Chapter 1: The Meeting Part One

Rare Color Illustration of the Reichstag, Unknown Date*

January 31st, 1933
Berlin, Germany
1600 hours

Normally, this revered building would be a meeting place for the great democratic institutions of the Wiemar Republic, and there would be great debates on the new laws of the great nation. Today, however, was a special day. Today, was the beginning of the Third Reich...

"I hereby call this special cabinet meeting into order," stated the young Adolf Hitler standing in the Reichstag's chambers. "I have called this meeting to put foward the new national plan of 1934. I believe it goes as follows..."

"I'm sorry, but is von Hindenburg supposed to be doing this?" asked Werner von Blomberg, Minister of Industy and Armaments.

"I believe von Hindenburg was feeling unwell today, and thus could not attend," said Wilhelm Frick, Minister of Internal Security. "However, his presence is not required as he has already read this plan a multitude of times."

"Indeed," said Hitler. "I have taken the place of the President for the moment. Now, I believe it is time for me to brief you on the current state of the nation. Our people are currently content with our rule, save a few Communists. Actually, that's all my responsibilities to report. I believe we hear from von Blomberg next."

"Right, let me remind the cabinet of our current industrial situation," said von Blomberg as he straightened out his notes. "We currently have 101 government factory complexes that are ready for use. However, due to peacetime restrictions of industrial output, we have had to cut 10% of our output, or about 10 factory complexes. This has been slightly alieviated by technological advances of the previous year, which expanded out industrial output by 1%, or a single factory complex. Overall, we have 92 factories open for production."

"Currently, the following production is in place. We have gone with the plan to expand the industrial output of our nation by building 6 new factory complexes each in Hamburg, Hannover, Berlin, Rostock, Magdeburg, Leipzig, and Munich," continued Blomberg. "To supplement this, Siemens is currently trying to improve our electronic valves. Their estimates believe it may increase research equipment speeds by up to 3%. Also, I.G Farben is collaborating to begin 'War Industries', simpler put, ways to improve production efficiency and easier ways to build fortifications, at the cost of a longer and more expensive process to create necessary war materials, like armaments and airplanes. Luckily, naval production time will decrease slightly, according to estimates."

"Finally, we have finally agreed to Admiral Raeder's request of a larger navy. However, we needed to avoid diplomatic incident over the Versailles Treaty. Thus, only one ship is allowed to be built for military purposes, the KMS Graf Spee, a Deuscthland-class Heavy Cruiser, which shall become our most modern capital ship. Meanwhile, our mercantile fleet will expand by 450 ships by 1939. This is due to the required convoys to ferry resources to East Prussia and back, as well as increased international trade."

"Thank you, von Blomberg. Now I believe we can move onto foreign affairs with Constantin von Neurath.

"Thanks for the introduction, Chancellor, said von Neurath, Foreign Minister. "Our current relations with the Allied nations remain agreeable, except the French which dislike us, and the Egyptians and Indians whom hate us. The Soviet Union has neutral relations with us, her Asian allies hate us as well. We have amiable relations with Austria, Portugal, and Hungary, as well as good relations with Sweden, Finland, the Baltic States, Romania, Yugoslavia, Turkey, Denmark, Switzerland, and Bulgaria. The Italians, Czechs and Spanish dislike us, while Norway and Poland hate us. That's all for European relations. For the major countries, Argentina is amiable toward us, Japan remain agreeable with us, the Chinese are indifferent, the US dislike us, and their puppet Liberia hate us. That is all to report. I believe Wilhelm Frick speaks next."

"Indeed," said Frick with a frown upon his face. "Firstly, we have huge problems with our security. We probably have over 50 spy rings operating in our country, most of them probably from the Allies and the Soviets. This leaves our county's secrets open to prying and thus, I have created the first counter-espionage team to exterminate the rats in our country. On a happier note, our manpower reserves are currently at 341,000**, ready for deployment in any form."

"Thank you for these report gentlemen. Now I believe the armed forces are to come..."

End of Part One

*Not sure if this is older than the Reichstag fire. I made it look a bit older and darker than it originally looked. Tell me if it's awkward or not.

**I'm assuming a German division had 10,000 men, so 1 manpower = 1,000 men. This is more for simplification, but if the number is totally off, then please tell me.

the manpower thing is right.
what happened to the other aar?
nice overview anyway.

BritishImperial: Thanks for the confirmation. Details on why the former AAR failed is the first sentence in my first post. :p

Update coming soon, after ten pages of mathwork is finished...

Chapter One: The Meeting Part Two

"While we wait," said von Blomberg, "I would like to announce Hjalmar Schacht, former chairman of the the Reichsbank, has begun to formulate theories of the economy which can be used to help develop methods to give our economy a much needed boost. Also, we have received a rather favorable aid package from Romania and Scandinavia for 10,000 units each of fuel and raw materials* to help get our economy back on its feet. This will help us deal with the regular loss of raw materials to our industry. Luckily, our oil, energy, and supply stocks are growing fairly well."

"I forgot to brief the factory queues earlier. 34 factories are producing goods for the people, 54 are producing the Graf Spee, convoy ships, and equipment for new factories, and 4 factories are dedicated to supplies."

"That's good to hear," said Ludwig Beck, Chief of the Armed Forces, as he walked through the aisle of the Reichstag. "Meet Werner von Fritsch, Chief of the Army; Erich Raeder; Grand Admiral of the Kreigsmarine; and Hermann Goering, Air General of the civilian aircraft. My job as Chief of the Armed Forces is simply to coordinate all three branches. I believe von Fritsch will want to speak first."

"My fellow ministers, our army is currently one of the smallest in Europe. We have but 10 divisions of infantry, a headquarters, no tanks, and little artillery. We must expand our army if we are to compete even with Czechoslovakia, let alone Poland or France. There is good news though. Our army is the best trained in Europe and it will only get better as we begin to stop using a drafted conscript army and begin using a a standing army system. Currently, I have switched most of our experienced combat leaders with those which are known to use less supplies to help allocate our industry for more important things like expansion of the military. Only Major General Busch of the I. Armeekorps in East Prussia keeps his post. Hugo Schmeisser, a weapon designer, has decided to develop new weapons and help with our training. He already has the tactical blueprints, he merely needs to implement his plan. Also, Heinz Guderian is developing his Einheit Doctrine, a decentralization of the military to help our units fight and move better, especially at night.

"I am Erich Raeder, the Grand Admiral. Currently, our navy consists of only a battlecruiser, a heavy cruiser with one more being created, two light cruisers, three destroyer groups, a submarine pack, and two transport flotillas. We desperately need a larger navy if we are to control the seas."

"I am Hermann Goering, the Air General. Currently, our air force consists of Lufthansa's civilian passenger planes. We have no military planes to speak of. We control the skies of our country with civilian transports. We desperately need military aircraft if we are to terrorize our enemies."

End of the meeting.

*Raw materials are metal and rares. If you can help me on real life measures of 'units', it would be much appreciated.

hmmm. i wonder if you would have any military planes if you could "speak" of them ? ? ;)

nice start ! !

no air force? got to remedy that.

Good Luck.

I'm not sure of this...

... I thought Germany had two battlecruisers to begin with???

As for Raeder, not sure if he actually wanted to *control the seas, but maybe control and destroy anything *on the sea.

TheEnlighted1: ... I thought Germany had two battlecruisers to begin with???

IIRC, in the 1936 (vanilla) Mod Germany starts with two BC. however, this is the Mod34... ;)

Just so you know, I've been extremely busy with schoolwork and thus haven't had time to update. I'm wondering what I should build after the new convoys and the Graf Spee.

Should I build more factories, more infantry, more airplanes, or more of something else?
