Merely updating to Java 8 worked for me, haven't downloaded the newest change.

Still I did check my version before updating and it was 7 like it had been for a long time, seemed very weird.

Most likely some problem in the deployment process on my side. I probably had a class in there that was compiled for Java 8 while I was intending to have it work for Java 7. That's why only people with Java 8 installed could run it.

Those who had problems with the new version: Please be so kind to re-download from the same link (I updated the binaries) and check if it works now. If the error persists please tell me what the console prints out when you issue the command "java -version".

I probably have another error, since I don't get the error message. Am I maybe doing something stupid :D ? I will go through what I did thoroughly.

I am trying to open CK2Tools Executable Jar File with the Java(TM) Platform binary. I believe I have correctly installed Java 8 version 25 (but when I try to install it the installer says it removes version 7 and then completes the installation, even though I have already installed Java 8, and when I try to verify it I am forced to go back to the 8.25 installer).

I am nor sure what you exactly mean with your version problems. It should now work with both Java 7 and 8 (not 6!).

Are you using .bat file? Clicking on the CK2Tools.jar will most likely not work.

Yeah well I just find the java installer overly complex :). Not entirarly sure whether I have java 7 or java 8 after having run the installer a couple of times (it kind of hints that I don't have java 8 when I have run the installer), but anyway. Yes I was trying to click on the CK2Tools.jar file, so I should change it to Ck2Tools.bat and click on that ?

Yes. I just realized that the OP did use the old name of the .bat :eek:

You can have both Java 7 and 8 installed. One is used in the console. This is set in a windows system variable. If you want to use which one is in use type "java -version" into the console.

My modded map crashes on start. If I delete all the files (including default.map) created by the mapfiller (but still use the new map), the game loads just fine. I do suspect that it is most likely connected to default.map (because if I delete all BUT that file, the game still doesn't load - but it could be for a different reason, like the number of provinces being wrong).

It looks like this:
Code:
max_provinces = 9
# stats:  8 provinces
# unused:
definitions = "definition.csv"
provinces = "provinces.bmp"
positions = "positions.txt"
terrain = "terrain.bmp"
rivers = "rivers.bmp"
terrain_definition = "terrain.txt"
heightmap = "topology.bmp"
tree_definition = "trees.bmp"
continent = "continent.txt"
adjacencies = "adjacencies.csv"
climate = "climate.txt"
region = "region.txt"
static = "static.txt"
seasons = "seasons.txt"

sea_zones = { 5 5 }
sea_zones = { 3 3 }
sea_zones = { 2 2 }
sea_zones = { 4 4 }
sea_zones = { 6 6 }
sea_zones = { 7 7 }

ocean_region = {	# Lake Garda
	sea_zones = { 1 }
}

ocean_region = {	# Ligurian Sea
	sea_zones = { 2 }
}

ocean_region = {	# Adriatic Sea
	sea_zones = { 3 4 }
}

ocean_region = {	# Lake Geneva
	sea_zones = { 5 }
}

ocean_region = {	# Lake Constance
	sea_zones = { 6 }
}

# Define which indices in trees.bmp palette which should count as trees for automatic terrain assignment
tree = { 3 4 7 10 }

major_rivers =
{
	# Lake Garda
	5
	# Ligurian Sea
	3
	# Adriatic Sea
	2  #Adriatic Sea
	4
	# Lake Geneva
	6
	# Lake Constance
	7
}

Doesn't help (I simply removed all the entries from column K except for the actual provinces and the Po river). I'm pretty sure a major river is necessary on the map - but for some reason, the exact same provinces map works with the vanilla file, but no after running the filler. I'm pretty sure I used all colors on the map except black and white. Do those need entries as well? I don't think they have entries in the vanilla definitions.csv.

As far as I know major rivers are not necessary. In the past a portage was a necessity but I bugged Groogy long enough and they fixed that bug ;)

Feel free to post changed files if the error persists.

Well, I really can't find the reason for this error. I reduced the number of colored provinces to 3. I only had more because I thought that river was necessary. Which files should I post?

default.map now looks like this:
Code:
max_provinces = 4
# stats:  3 provinces
# unused:
definitions = "definition.csv"
provinces = "provinces.bmp"
positions = "positions.txt"

I could just upload the entire mod, of course, I you're willing to have a look at it. But the files look OK, actually.

Are there any shennanigans I have to do with cultures, religions and titles etc.? I tried to add dummy titles for hre and papal_states, since I vaguely remember someone claiming they're necessary, the same for cultures, but no luck, both with and without those...

Here's the actual mod:https://www.dropbox.com/s/iszqer7npo5zi0y/switzerland.zip?dl=0. It contains some unnecessary working files in the map folder, but the map as such loads, once the files created by the mapfiller are deleted.

With the new patch I am experiencing oddities with map filler generated maps as well. I can't rule out that there's some bug that I am yet to address. The Witcher mod map starts up fine atm but one province shows up as grey ingame for no obvious reason.

The thing is you can always verify yourself if the files are correct. The map filler tool only generates text files and those can even be run through the Validator.

I will take a look at your mod once I am home from work (our corporate proxy blocks all kinds of "personal storage" sites)

I had a look at the generated files, they SEEM right. The Validator doesn't complain either (except for the empty maje rivers, same as the guy in the other thread).

Still, it could very well be an issue with the game itself. Maybe it's better to wait for the announced patch/hotfix before investigating further.

Well, waiting -14 minutes didn't help, it still won't work ;).
