A few notes:

CO & Paradox Local Things

This is super helpful to communicate, things such as the mandatory vacation time, and how that affects release schedules. That gap in summer would be SUPER frustrating as an American, because I simply don't know about that normal fact of life where you work. But because you communicated it, I have absolutely no problem with that at all. I've worked as a developer at a game studio, I would be doing cartwheels if the studio had been required to give me 4 consecutive weeks of vacation during summer.

My boss doesn't get to cancel my sick time because I screwed up a bug. I get that, I can be patient if I understand enough to make sense of it, and now I do.

Economy Rework

I'm very happy to hear this. This is the central thing that, if you get it fixed right and continue paying attention to it, the other stuff can keep being worked on. I absolutely cannot play the game until this is fixed. I can play it without painters, or props, or more services, or better traffic, etc. But I cannot play the game until the economy is in a place where it feels like the things I do matter.

So long as we are kept in the loop, which again is the main thing that I think drove SO MUCH of the anger, I support taking the time to get it right, work on the feedback, and make sure it's in a place you are happy with. This is one of the only things that I think mods will never, ever be able to really address, so I cannot stress enough how important it is to get this right. This is the thing that will determine if this game gets another 2 years of support, or another 10 like you had hoped for.

Looking forward to the patch. Just watched City Planner Plays' stream about the upcoming beta and I hope some of his ideas will get integrated into the game. Especially his point about being able to lose the game. I'd love to get some sort of a challenge.

And allow us to turn off the DING DING DING DING sound yes :)

Upcoming Creator Packs
As a result of this extended feedback and adjustment period for the economy patch, the Creator Packs will be pushed to post-summer. Even though the Creator Packs require relatively little time for implementation from Colossal Order, we want to make sure the upcoming economy patch has the intended result, and that we have time to also evaluate your feedback before we release any new paid content. This means we will move the Creator Packs to release after the summer lock.

Are CO implying here that the 8 regional creator packs are going to be paid DLC?

This has been communicated previously as being free additional content, and given the disaster that post-launch has been this would murder any vein of recovery CO/PDX would hope to create

Good question.
I stumbled upon that as well, but I think that as long as they are planning to go on with CS2 it won't be paid content. That would just be the death penalty for the game.
If however they (or PDX) would decide that there is no way to fix the game, they might be inclined to make some last money. There are certainly people who would buy those packs either way.

LET ME REMIND YOU Of WHAT YOU SAID BEFORE YOUR LAST VACATION XMAS 2023

@co_avanya

"You know in a couple months well be happily playing the game, you know well have forgotten, you know well look through it with rose tinted glasses, ah you remember the release, sad, didnt go great, but now, fantastic"

source

@co_martsu

"The gameplay is good, thats what Ive been telling everybody, the gameplay is, gud.... If the game is not fun, and the simulation sucks, where do you go from there"

source

Its going to be the one year anniversary of CS2 release soon.

One more patch, then be told to expect nothing til after August, close to the anniversary. That means since release we got a handful of bug fixes, some minor performance improvements, Paradox mods for code mods and maps and them acknowledging their simulation is broken and actually fixing the economic part of it.

Enjoy your new 4 week vacation. It must be well deserved in the world you live in. At least your digging your company's grave faster by doing so. Now back to Manor Lords.
Damage control and marketing. It's called community management for a reason, you know.

Game was released at least a year too soon. I don't expect a (semi-) fixed game before 2026, if ever. In any case it's gonna be a marathon, not a sprint.

According to City Planner Plays it has been confirmed again at the recent meeting with PDX/CO that the region packs will be free.

I just want the product that was promised at the time I bought the game, pre-release. Is that really too much to expect after another seven months have passed? You need to stop console development entirely and concentrate on fulfilling your obligations to the people who have actually financed your development work, i.e. me and every other PC owner who trusted you. I feel cheated.

They're talking about the creator's packs DLC: Urban promenades and modern architecture. Not the region packs which are mods.

I would be very upset if I paid money for this game. That's why I just laugh at this nonsense.
I was upset for the first few weeks after launch because even with a pretty decent gaming laptop I had crappy performance, but after the first few iterations of bug fix releases the game has been fun to play. Each progression step has made it better, and once the code mods became available it jumped to a new level. I have not regretted either the purchase or the price because I always thought part of playing the game was the challenge of working within the game to get it to grow in the way I wanted.

If you play on a higher-end PC I think you will enjoy the game as it stands today. Yes, it will slow to a crawl at some point if your only goal is to grow to the biggest population possible, but it won't stop working- it will use every ounce of power in your PC to crank through the computations until you give up.

If you are a city painter-type player, you can build absolutely anything you want right now. The only thing missing is the asset editor and copy/ past so you will have to build each area one at a time but so what?

If you want to play in the simulation style anyway, you can go as slow or fast as you like. Build a new area then watch how it gets used and how it affects the economy. Add the first-person camera mod and explore the city as the citizens walk around.

If you want a more varied building for a prettier build, no problem! Just zone each building as a different style- 4x4 na low res, eu low res, na beach low res, eu beach low; 1x2 1x3 1x4 1x5 1x6 na row, eu row; zone lots for na mixed-use buildings next to eu mixed-use and mix in low res lots for na or eu commercial or a low office. It takes a little time, but you will end up with a very nice-looking neighborhood. To make it even nicer, leave some open spaces between the buildings or vary the depth of the lots along the street so that you can save the fully grown trees that exist. This approach also leaves space to build pedestrian paths between and behind buildings which the people will use more than you think. It rather quickly becomes a very satisfying and alive area.

Can it be better? Absolutely. But if you stop bitching long enough to open the game and see what you can do it is completely playable and very enjoyable right now.

These "influencers"/"content" creators are as trustworthy as Avanya is when it comes to what CO is going to do with the game.

Don’t shoot the messenger. They reported about what was being discussed in the meeting. There’s always the interpretation noise and things might go lost in translation. So let’s just wait for the next patch and see if it can make cities skylines less of a boring colour by the number and more of a simulation with challenges.

The Region Packs are different from the Creator Packs. While these and future Creator Packs will be paid, the Region Packs that are only waiting for some more development of the Asset Editor will be free and available as soon as we are able to finalize them!

The Region Packs will be available for free on PDXMods!

A lot of us are. But there's nothing anyone can do. I've moved on to Anno 1800, which is beautiful and insanely complex and there are enough great mods to keep me busy for at least a couple years. So I'm not coming back to actually play CS:2 anytime soon.

"Available on PDXMods"

Wonderful! Now make sure PDXMods actually works properly, and in a manner that doesn't waste a half hour of time just starting and restarting the game/playsets to get things to properly load.
